Upcoming Vita Games (200+ Upcoming games in ENGLISH) || 2016 Edition ||

Could one of you check if there are other languages on the cartridge besides english? German for example? The back says english only but former Vita Asian english releases from Square Enix were similar to the european copies.

Dragon Quest Builders SEA has the same product code as the NA version (compare the url: SEA, US, EU). IIRC SE's previous SEA versions were based on the NA version.

I checked Spanish for someone who asked:

There's no settings in the game options to manually change the language, but it seems to switch with system settings yeah. I haven't tried it with every language, though.

FFX-2 was definitely the same game on the cart. It installed right over the digital version when I put the cart in the first time.

hmm... so if I buy the day 1 digital DQB off NA's PSN today before the store updates, I'd probably be able to install that bonus DLC onto this one. Nah, I can't justify another $40 just for gold blocks.

Good to know I could cloud save between a digital and a physical copy sometime down the line, though.

Could you check german aswell? Spanish could be on the NA version aswell, but german probably not.

As someone who has no Dragon Quest background but likes Minecraft and having some goals to work towards, is it worth checking out DQB? Will I be lost?

In an update from the other day, sites are reporting that Akiba's Beat Japanese audio will be DLC on Vita.

I became a bit suspicious about the Vita version releasing at all after they delayed it in Japan, but XSEED still seem to think it's coming and they're more likely to be in the know than most.

Considering how many lines they're dubbing for the game, I would assume they're making the Japanese track dlc because of space. As for the game releasing on Vita at all, surely Acquire knows just how much a Vita version is needed in Japan. Quality be damned, it will be the only one that has any chance of selling even remotely well there. Because make no mistake, the Vita version of this game is going to chug hard.

I am honestly amazed that Xseed is going all in on this game of all things.

I remember, although I can't find the source, that XSEED went all in on Akiba's Trip 2 too, with budget on dubbing and stuff. Think it was an interview with Ken Berry where he said that.

I don't know why they're going all in with Beat since I don't think it'll sell as well, but I guess we'll see.

As for the Vita version - I agree, it's all but a given it'll be a framerate nightmare at this point. I'll still be buying the portable version though.

Im probably passing on it but yea if i buy itll be vita if at all even though itll run like shit.

I know this is mostly off topic, but I was just wondering if you guys could help me. I was interested in looking back at examples we've been given by developers/publishers of the sales of their games on Vita. Either a passing comment or some actual figures. Examples:

- Ubisoft 'pleased' with initial sales of Assassin's Creed III: Liberation; following by announcement that game had sold 600k.

- Axiom Verge "did pretty well on Vita"

- Ethan Meteor Hunter sold 2,763 on Vita.

- Shovel Knight sold 48k on Vita.

- Machinarium sold 280,000 across PS3 & Vita

- Mike Bithell saying thanks to Vita owners for buying copies of Volume prior to launch due to cross-buy

- Retro City Rampage developer saying Vita is a "healthy market" (thanks, Shizuka)

- Sword Art Online Hollow Fragment ships 400k worldwide.

I was just wondering if there were any other updates I missed? Any sales data we've been given that I wasn't aware of? Thinking of throwing an article together about it.

Brian Provinciano mentioning that the Vita was RCR's strongest platform at some point.

Good shout. I found this so far:

PS VITA has been a very healthy market which is completely counter to the misappropriated console's stigma as a failure. With less AAA competition, it's easier to get store placement and store placement is what sells games. Over the past two years, sales on PS VITA have become proportionately higher than PS3.

Thanks!

Sorry for all the posts lately, I like Vita news!

Famitsu scores:

Berserk and the Band of the Hawk (PS Vita) – 9/9/9/8 [35/40]
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO! Game (PS Vita) – 8/7/7/8 [30/40]
Neo Atlas 1469 (PS Vita) – 8/8/10/7 [33/40]
Saka Agari Hurricane Portable (PS Vita) – 7/7/7/6 [27/40]
Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization (PS Vita) – 9/8/7/8 [32/40]
World of Final Fantasy (PS Vita) – 9/9/9/9 [36/40]

Side note, seems they really didn't like Crows:

Crows: Burning Edge (PS4) – 7/6/7/6 [26/40]

Maybe that's why Vita got cancelled, they realised it wasn't a great game and wasn't worth optimising, lol.

Scores for multiplatform releases are the same, I doubt they played all versions and they ended up having the same performance.

Hollow Realization was supposed to be a mess on the Vita, yet it's the same score as the PS4 version.

Well I mean, Toukiden 2 was supposed to be a mess on Vita, yet they mostly pulled it together for the final release. I know the game's performance wasn't great, but it was a damn sight better than they made it seem pre-release.

So maybe Hollow Realization turned out fine. I do find the score pretty low in general though. I'd have thought a grindy game like that would be right up Famitsu's alley.

Citation? Still deciding which version to get (bit leaning PS4.)

VitaGAF, is it time for me to give up on ports of Borderlands and Minecraft Story Mode?

I'd kinda given up on them, then in February they gave a glimmer of hope on the matter. And now it's October and nothing since.

(As you can tell, I'm having a slow day in work today).
I believe Minecraft might still make it because of Japan.

Toukiden 2 was a mess on PS4. Sure it was graphically better but performance wise.. it's not good.

The director said it a few months ago, I saw it on Gematsu.
Why would he say that?

I swear I read it on Gematsu, but I can't find a link right now. It was a quote from the director saying that the Vita version was less than ideal, something of the sort.

The interview with the producer said something along those lines, but extrapolating 'downgraded' into 'a mess' might be a little strong.
We’ve only see the PlayStation 4 version of the game so far. How is the PS Vita version coming along?

Futami: “For the PS Vita version, of course there is a difference in the hardware, so things such as graphics and frame rate are a little bit downgraded from PlayStation 4. Any other thing, such as the MMORPG-like gameplay experience you can find in the PlayStation 4 version can also be experienced in the PS Vita version.”
(link to the interview).

iirc I posed something from a Ryuzaki tweet where the director was saying it was sub 30 fps.

I have a lot of content planed on 3WIREL today for the Vita but my first bit of Vita content is an interview for Rogue Raiders Online!

http://3wirel.lostsig.com/2016/10/1...interview-with-creator-cristina-martin-ramos/

The game's developer was kind enough to answer some of my questions about the game, so I hope you enjoy the interview if you consider reading it :).

RK: That is very impressive! I enjoyed the Vita Phineas and Ferb title, so I am happy you are pleased with the final release of the game. My big question is what made you start development on a Vita prototype for Rogue Raiders?

Cristina: Sadly after the last game, no publisher was interested in working anymore in a Vita title, I asked the community if they were interested in a game like Rogue Raiders and I got a big YES, so I decided to try going indie and getting it done through crowdfunding.

RK: Where you surprised at all by the positive reaction you received from the gaming public regarding this announcement? I know I was surprised personally to see this title get announced! Enjoyed what I saw of the game a lot!

Cristina: Yes! I am overwhelmed by the response the game has got. I’m really happy and committed to create a great, fun Vita game.

I have to say your unintentional pun got a laugh from me :p.

Rouge Raiders indeed!

(It's Rogue not rouge btw).

My backlog has grown so big that both my 64gb memory card and my ps4's hdd are completely full... I need to stop buying games.

But these damn sales :(.

Great to see the game getting some coverage and always love reading your stuff man!

Nice interview. Felt a lot less scripted than a lot of stuff I read.

Anyway, I'm super excited for the game and I really hope it gets the money it needs. I really respect what she's doing.

I knew she worked for Virtual Toys previously but didn't know she was lead programmer on Phineas and Ferb. That was easily the most impressive VT game so it bodes well; probably makes a good framework for her skills with 3D programming as well.

Bit disheartening to hear her say that no companies wanted to fund Vita games after that title though. We knew it already, but I guess that's the point where even Sony Europe pulled funding on Vita stuff.

The head of PlayStation Iberia, James Armstrong, left Sony last year after being with them for over 30. I don't think it's a coincidence that once he was replaced, SIEE's regional Vita projects ended.

Pretty interesting how much can change with just one person going. I know he's not liked as much around the Vita community these days, but the indie drive has slowed down substantially since Shahid left too (although he was more focused on VR towards the end of his tenure anyway).

Leaves Gio as pretty much the only Bastion of "works for Sony and is allowed to do things for Vita", then, since not even Japan Studio seem to have that luxury any more.

Gonna be interesting to see what happens to all of these ex-Vita developers out in the real world of AAA console stuff. Virtual Toys already suffered massive layoffs after their MOBA bombed. Armature sound on shaky ground thanks to Recore's reviews and Dead Star's failure.

While at least the studios who are still doing the porting under Gio's watch are finding consistent work (Code Mystics; Sickhead Games etc.)

The shocking thing is that Japan Studio ditched Vita in 2014, despite their last releases doing well and the platform having a audience there. They were the first one after SIEA.

I was a bit sad hearing that part of the interview honestly :(. But at this point, Sony has no interest in making major titles for the platform and I'm okay with it. The games they DID make for Vita are some of their studios best works (Tearaway, Killzone, Gravity Rush, LBP Vita, ect).

And I'm happy you liked the interview! I asked the basic questions first and used my lessons from my interview with a Crash Twinsanity developer earlier this year as an example for this interview.

Very happy that many enjoyed the interview and hope that it gives needed coverage on this promising Kickstarter project.

Is it really going to be a one-woman-project? Did you discuss that with her? Because I'm finding it awfully ambitious if it's just her doing the entire game, and she's not exactly planning on making Pong for Vita...
