Looks amazing, how do you improve that..........;)

I'm looking forward to absolutely no jaggies in GTS, the graphics are already pretty stellar, but I imagine better shadows, effects like rain, dust, particles snow will be a touch better including a locked framerate.....Knowing Kaz he may even go beyond that. I hope he does not sacrifice framerate this time around and won't do something silly like 4k native...ha!
Easy. Replay/photo mode quality effects during realtime gameplay. Huge upgrade

Man, that lightning in this gif. Just awesome!

DrPmO32.gif

That's insane. Squint a tiny bit and you could easily believe that was real.

In that case, I hope you are right. If the increased shadow maps and af aren't exclusive to 1080p mode then I can't possibly imagine how good the graphics will be if they crank up the lighting and other effects in that mode. Great news for us 1080p tv owners

TBH, I wouldn't expect such situation (having different configurations: slightly increased details in 1080p and a gimped settings in checkerboard mode) from a first party studio. Horizon is checkerboarding from 1080px2 to reach 2160p. I don't think they need to settle for 1080p to improve such little details especially when Infamous Last Light still has increased particle effects in the high resolution mode and didn't need to gimp the res to 1080p to increase graphical fidelity. I think Days Gone and Spider-Man are following the same route.

I'm basing that purely on common sense because there's no artistic or technical benefit in making the (checkerboard) image of a lower quality on a 4K screen than on a 1080p.

I can't say that they aren't doing that as they haven't specifically said that but the reason they haven't is surely it is absolutely common sense that they wouldn't even think about doing such a thing unless there is specifically a version that renders at a lower resolution, like Tomb Raider, to free up resources that can be used for other benefits.

I do apologise to everybody as I seem to have taken over this thread and I really don't want to do that but there has been misinformation on GAF so it's entirely understandable that people keep posting it.

You'll all be please to know that I'm going for hike/scramble/climb now so you'll all have peace from me for a few hours. :)

Signal is always preferable to noise JP. I like Gaf, but sometimes the signal/noise ratio goes too much toward noise.

Enjoy your hike!

I really hope they will add their awesome DOF and Motion Blur in the gameplay itself. So far they only used it in replays.
If they add replay effects in game with 60FPS at 1080p, I don't think any racing game will look better than GTS for a long, long time. That would be pure perfection. I would actually buy a PS4 Pro for that.

Seeing some Tweets re Gran Turismo being shown in 4K with HDR, someone had uploaded a vid of Kaz talking but it seems to have been taken down fast. Can anyone else confirm?

I hate when they mention HDR for 1080p sets because it doesnt exist, unless the newer 1080p sets do but I would be surprised.

The one community manager who uploaded shots from devs on the stage took them down.

Lol did they? Well, I guess at that time the Scorpio wasn't known about.

This is such a boring line of conversation that I see everywhere. Scorpio barely even exists outside of a 90 second trailer and Phil Spencer's Twitter account.

When Microsoft inevitably uses the same slogan next year, perhaps Sony should just casually namedrop the PS5 to invalidate it, too. Zzzzz.

I guess we are going to have to wait until after the event to hear this via the invited journos, not much action on twitter.

Interesting they are showing those third party elite type pads along side the official hardware.
I was wondering wtf those where. Endorsement? Since Sony has them on display like that one would think they stand behind the quality of said 3rd party pads. I want one, but only If there worth a shit.

Exactly, if I can go in the store on November the 10th and pick up a 'Scorpio' then I'll agree that it's false advertising. But we really know nothing of Scorpio other than targeted specs.

The more I see it, the more I like the "super charged PS4" line. It communicates what it is incredibly effectively.
