Overwatch Quick Play getting single hero limit (Arcade mode has no limits 6v6)

http://m.ign.com/articles/2016/11/04/blizzcon-2016-single-hero-limit-coming-to-overwatch-quick-play

Overwatch's Quick Play mode will have a single-hero limit, Blizzard announced today during its Overwatch panel at BlizzCon 2016.

In addition, the Overwatch development team shed light on the game's upcoming Arcade mode, which will feature a no-limits option when selecting heroes.

Didn't see a thread about this. Quite a change to the game and settles a debate that's been raving in the Overwatch community.

Regular quick play is now in Arcade

But isn't arcade limit only 3v3?
So the only way to play with full stack is in bot or custom matches? Can't say I approve. Why not just jucut quick play and make it competitive only if they awant to go that far.

Anyone saying this is a good thing should just be sticking with rank anyway.

Oh ok that's fine then, though might start thinning the player base a bit.

Since they went with that decision in comp, I'm glad to see them implement it into quick play.

Before it felt like two different games

I've seen a lot of people complaining that there isn't a mode where they can semi play seriously that is not ranked. Personally, I'm not a fan of this change but it does seem they are still leaving the option there, albeit a lot less people will probably play that mode. But it's there.

That... kind of sucks. Glad to see it's sticking around in Arcade; but I can't help but think this will definitely shrink and compartmentalize the player base.

I'm for this.

Quick play is a fun, mess-around mode where you can learn heroes without needing to worry about competitive meta, team compositions, or whether or not you're going to be screwing over your team by picking a character you like instead of the one the team needs, but it's a bit of a shitshow with too many people playing characters like Genji and too many matches devolving into teams stacking characters like Bastion, Reinhardt, Zarya, Tracer etc. to both frustrate their enemies and exploit stuff the game isn't designed for to get a cheap win.

People that like that sort of chaos can still access it through arcade mode, but the default 'player match' analogue shouldn't have any differences from ranked play aside from pressure and determination to win.

Single hero limits is the one reason I even contemplate going ranked so this is great.

Having a separate mode for those that enjoy the mindless fun is the way to go.

I never really believed Blizzard when they claimed Overwatch was "balanced" for hero stacking. I suspected stacking as allowed due to fear of making casual players confused and angry at not being able to always play the character they wanted, because they didn't understand team composition. They really pushed Overwatch hard for the mainstream (which worked).

The problem with Overwatch was a lack of modes and playlists. There's no way to play with structured teams without dealing with people fighting over esports points. Which in turn prevents experimentation to learn new characters in something that resembles the "official" game.

So I'm all for tightening up quick play a little more, if other modes are introduced for people who want to just mash around with bizarre and possibly non-functional teams for fun.

Edit: all they have to do in order to keep various modes populated is offer daily missions requiring those modes to get an extra loot box or something.

i thought quick play was about NOT playing it so seriously, never got really bad matches on ps4 because of hero stacking, and now we can't go 6 Symmetras on hanamura, really?

This will only make my friend who gets already pretty toxic while playing QP worse... Are there that many trolls on PC?I can't see how that would benefit the game at all here...

if there won't be any mode where there is no hero limit then the game will lose a lot of it's player base including me

i trust blizzard, they created the best MP shooter since Bad company 2 and i know they won't fuck it up

That's excellent. Put free for all in Arcade and let people who want to enjoy themselves without having to deal with Six Mei Fuckery or Ranked Mode Assholery do it in Quick Play.

That... kind of sucks. Glad to see it's sticking around in Arcade; but I can't help but think this will definitely shrink and compartmentalize the player base.

How? All you have to do is click one extra icon if you want to play no hero stacking. I don't get the logic on this compartmentalizing attitude as if this is something that has to be bought.

LAME

6 Mei is super fun.
Bullshit. I hate this crap.

Thank God they did that. It will also solve my other pet peeve. When I'm using one character, say, Tracer and another asshole who joins in late chooses her too. Ugh.

This goes more with the spirit of the game. Forcing you to use diverse team compositions.

Not sure how I feel about this, since Quick Play isn't serious. It'll force people to play/learn more characters.

Should've left quick play and just added unranked (ranked rules). It's going to suck not being able to pick the hero you want consistently.
