PlayStation 4 Pro Reviews

well you got lucky as hell selling off your launch ps4 for 300. not many people will be able to achieve that.

and OF COURSE a ps4 is worth it if you can sell your lauch ps4 for 300..

Even if you only get $200 for your launch ps4, in an era where people pay $600 every year for their new iphone how is $200 for an upgraded PS4 not worth it ?

I dont see the big deal, new people coming in get the slightly upgraded PS4 for $400 or if they dont want to spend that kind of money they can get the launch version of PS4 for 250 or whatever the price will be.

People that just want to upgrade can sell their old one, pay 200 - 250 to upgrade, and call it a day.

The important part is , IMO is that none of it feels like its being forced. Im upgrading because i have the extra cash , but I didnt feel like I was being left in the dust with the old PS4 either.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Congrats to Sony and to everyone whos gonna get it.

A healthy game industry is awesome for us gamers.

My brother got his.

Enjoy it fellow gamerz :)

Remember, You are the reviewer of your own bought product.

Don't let let any review control you or your purchases', You like it, You buy it.

Bottom line its an opinion. Some will agree and some wont.

But isnt that like the first words that came out of Sony? It's for an improvement to current games. When all these site where talking extra work for developers and leaving behind current owners they thought the pro was not worth it. Now that it's for new adopters and current owners that care about image quality it should be treated as such. Overall the reviews do say it's worth it.

Just have to remember that most gaming sites are just bloggers that dress up as journalist. Anytime you expect professionalism it will be dismissed as opinion.

Well that's what you get with non technical oriented journos :p A lot of them could not even tell the difference between 720p and 1080p when it came to Xbox 1 vs PS4.

For many, that difference isn't tangible enough to be worth a purchase, and that's a reasonable argument to have. Just have to get the information right the first time however.

The reviews made the decision to wait for a good bundle a lot easier. As a 1080p owner there just isnt enough to make me want this day one (I cant believe im.saying that as I am a serious day one tech junky), I saved the money and its there but I cant do it to myself knowing there will be a decent bundle available soon enough.

So basically, if you already own a ps4 there is no super compelling reason to get this (yet!) unless you're the kind of person who meticulously scrutinizes graphics, although PSVR stands to potentially benefit the most.

All this just makes me even more undecided. I told a coworker I would sell him my existing system for $150 if I go through with it, and I have a 4K tv but it's in the damn living room. Meh.

pretty sure most people don't spend 600 every year for a new iphone for the most part (At least in america). Most people have that stupid upgrade program with thier wireless carrier where if they upgrade their phone every year, they return their old device and pay monthly for the new device.

me personally, i went from iphone 4 to iphone 5, then went to iphone 6 and haven't upgraded since. I only upgrade my phone when I feel it's worth it (usually every 2-3 years), and I am on an old program where I pay only 200 to upgrade and I extend my contract.

my point being, value is in the eye of the beholder.

but the point of my post is...most people won't get 300 for their "launch ps4" and that it's obviously worth upgrading for 100 bucks. don't know what you're going on about.

Basically. If your in the market for PS4 however, and don't mind spending an extra 100, Pro is a very good choice.

Personally i think Pro hurts the slim version significantly, Sony has to work on lowering that slim price before anything else to differentiate their two products

It seems like opinions will vary. But nothing is making you go buy it Thursday. As with any new technology the smartest thing is always to wait. If you can. Here at gaf you have a lot more enthusiast than the average Joe so a lot more people here are early adopters.

Any word yet if this does count as a PS4 in regards to PS Vue? I want the Pro downstairs but won't buy if I can't use it to watch TV while my family is in another room on the PS4 watching TV.

Because uninformed purchases are the best kind of purchases.

I'm confused, In an era where we seen reviewers not "telling the entire story and being select with what information they will write up", you suggest people should take the word of someone else than what they see for themselves?

If you are a gamer you should at least know the basic. Its not rocket science.

I might need a review or an opinion about something that's uncharted water for me. Like buying a helicopter or whatever.

But needing a review to buy an enhanced game console which I already own the basic model for? Come one.

If someone is uninformed about what PS4 pro is or what an enhanced model means than a review is not their biggest issue here.

The one thing I wonder about though is it seems like the target audience is more likely people who already have a PS4 though. The people who aren't price conscious and who do care about image quality and graphics that much likely already have bought the system. Those who haven't bought it are likely more price conscious. I do think if you're just now getting your first PS4, the Pro is the way to go, but the extra $120+ (remember, the Slim comes with a game while the Pro doesn't) seems to go against the grain of someone who is price conscious. It'll be fascinating to see if we ever find out a rough percentage of who upgraded versus who bought for the first time.

I don't know what bullshit is this ,but the patch ain't live to show any differencies.

How polite.

There *is* a difference. BF1 on the PS4 Pro looks sharper. I've seen it with my own eyes, played it with my own TV. It looks better. It's noticeable. Same input on my TV, same everything. Some of the differences are subtle, but they are definitely there.

You have never, ever worked retail have you?

Customers and gamers being uninformed is the NORM.

PS4 Pro. I was hoping Sony would consider it something else as the one PS4 streaming at a time policy is assinine.

The reality is, the number of people who will own more than one PS4 in any model will be very small. It's such an edge case that I doubt Sony addresses it.

I'm sorry if these types of questions are getting annoying but do we know what the pro upgrades are for watch dogs and dishonored? I can only get 1 right now. Hyped for them equally
Edit: actually I'm reading WD won't have pro support day 1. Decision made

Not just graphics. Performance increases also.

I was merely talking about the people who already knows about the system. Who uses forums. They know what they will get. They should at least have the basic info and knowledge.

We need more SSD & PSVR details/specifics. In the next couple of days more info should start trickling down yes?

Researching something before a purchase is not the same thing as "do no critical evaluation of everything you read and just take everything at face value." And part of that research could include a personal evaluation before buying, yes. Blind purchases should not be encouraged for anything.

Basic info and knowledge doesn't tell you if something is actually good or not, or if it has much of an affect on the game.

Reading reviews of an unproven console upgrade is the wise decision.

What do you want to know about PSVR? I'll try and get some videos done
Specific gameplay/IQ improvements game by game if applicable. Video comparisons although very challenging to show proper difference are also very welcomed, thanks!

Good job Sony on the Pro. I'm looking at it from the perspective of a launch console, so you're going to have some half-baked implementations of Pro support at first but things will get better over time. Even at that though, the noise reduction and supersampling is a solid upgrade for even badly patched games. Looking forward to the 10th.

I agree, I don't think anyone buys anything blindly, the only issue I have is too many "reviewers" are not equipped enough or objective enough in their reviews.

Reviewers need to be taken with a grain of salt until they have a proven track record.

Similar to taking everything said on neogaf as fact =)

So no site tested SSD speeds?

Most places only had one Pro, and they had a ton of other stuff to test.

The market of people who'll put SSDs in is significantly smaller than those who will buy a Pro.

I wish I didn't laugh when I read this.
