Anyone have any luck putting the NES classic controller PCB into a Famicom controller shell? I'm sure the rounded edges would be more comfortable.

1. Create more.
2. Take preorders.
3. Tell stores to set a 1 per customer limit.

1) Scalpers would just then be purchasing more.
2) Scalpers would be the ones scooping up pre-orders.
3) Scalpers would be getting friends and family to pick up units for them.

It ain't these guys first rodeo. They know how to game the system.

I don't think you understand how supply and demand works.

Got lucky today. Started at Target this morning at 7AM and they only had 6 with 20+ people in line. Tried Toys R Us next, they had 22 but all tickets had been given out. Ended up at best buy grabbing ticket 42 out of 45. No controllers or extension cables at the mentioned locations. This thing is tiny!

While that's in part true, it'd give more opportunities to those of us who can't line up on a Friday morning. Which, as of now, that was option one and option two is the mad scramble on Amazon in just under three hours.

Yes it is. The purposely didn't allow preorders and it feels like trickling out stock. It wasn't acceptable for amiibo and it isn't acceptable now.

The only people this low amount of stock benefits is scalpers and resellers.

Yup. I just wanted to get like 3 as presents for my younger cousins and now I'm probably not gonna get one due to the low volume.

If there were preorders, scalpers wouldn't bother. Everyone else could preorder, as well.

So scalping the console would be moot.

Why would scampers buy em if they are readily available at stores? More systems means less scalpera i think.

Regarding intentional scarcity, requoting for new page:

From the other thread:

Nintendo presents it to retailers six to eight months ago, who write minimal orders. Nintendo uses that to forecast demand and then places the manufacturing orders many months ago as factory time in Fall is incredibly scarce. They unveil the system and the hype greatly exceeds their forecasts. They try to book more manufacturing time, but find limited capacity left from their suppliers. They likely have small orders in, but will likely not see a large increase in supply until early 2017.

People claiming that the scarcity was planned have no understanding of modern supply chain management.

That said, the lack of second controllers is really weird and makes me wonder if they had a production defect/issue that limited yields.

I'm kind of shocked that anyone here expected the NES Classic to be anything but a massive success (sales-wise), but I guess a gaming forum is by definition somewhat of an echo chamber. (And hey, Nintendo apparently made the same mistake.)

This thing plays on the nostalgia of folks aged 25-99, and all of those people want to buy one for their kids and grandkids. That was the story from everyone I spoke to in line this morning. I was the only "gamer" there, but these people had November 11th marked on their calendars for weeks.

Scalping isn't an issue if you have patience. Just wait a bit for the initial wave craze to die down. I'm sure plenty more will be produced and sold.

Both Nintendo and Amazon have said that additional units will be available after today and before Christmas. Doesn't make it any more ridiculous that they didn't allow pre-orders and their initial shipments were so low when it should have been obvious to everyone (especially Nintendo and retailers) that demand would be high. I agree that they (Nintendo) probably intentionally only produced a limited initial supply to create an artificial scarcity but why exactly they would do this I am just not sure...

We knew it would be a massive success. We also knew that Nintendo would be their usual short-sighted and stupid self and not make nearly enough units for launch.

Pros: Everything involving actually using it. :D

Cons: Good luck getting this setup on any proper TV setup unless you have your own longass HDMI cable and power adapters. :p

I'm disabled and have to sit pretty far back. I have already ordered a 10 ft hdmi. What do I need to order to power it up from 10 Feet away?

Is the preorder decision Nintendo's or the retailers' to make? It feels like retailers underestimated demand.

Is anyone purchasing either of the EMiO products? The Advantage or turbo controller?

Has anyone heard about the quality of either controller? I am hesitant as neither are Nintendo products.

Negative reviews on Amazon say the gamepad neither works with the NES Classic nor a Wii U, and people on Reddit are saying the joystick isn't working in either slot on the NES Classic and even with the original NES Classic controller still connected in the other slot, so looks like their products are a total dud.

What? That sounds like someone got a defective product. If it doesn't work on either of those, what's it supposed to do?

Gamestop.com has them up. It's strange though. You have to click add to cart from the search page. Won't come up on the product page. I got order confirmation though. Good luck.

Welp, that answers that.

Thanks.

4. Have stores vet the buyer to make sure they are not scalpers.

You want to prevent scalping?

"NO RETURNS. ALL SALES FINAL."

The reason so many people scalp is because it is risk free.

If they can't flip in 30 days, it goes back to the store for a full refund. Scalpers literally have no skin in the game. There is -zero- risk except time.

I guarantee you that lady would have never bought six WiiUs if she ran the risk of being on the hook for the full retail cost.

Any retailer can offer pre-orders, but without a stock guarantee from a manufacturer there is the risk of pre-selling more than they get and pissing off customers.

Six? She's got a hell of a lot more than that, yo.
