EDIT: FIFA as a launch title makes me even more likely to just get one at launch. Off-TV FIFA 17 would be a big draw for me because I play FIFA a ton.

I think Madden will be on Switch in August.
I still question if FIFA at launch when a new one is coming in September
Madden and Fifa are a given tho, seems like it would be something else for a tease like this

That's a good point. FIFA is the most likely candidate then. This means that they will have also Frostbite "ported" to Switch in case it makes business sense to bring other games.

^^^This and Fifa. Fifa comes out at launch. Mass Effect seems unlikely. Mass Effect only stands a chance of happening if if the Switch is a Wii-like hit even then I doubt it'll ever come to the Switch.

That's not a good start at all, if EA will support Switch with just one game i think we can already abort our dream of PS4/XB1 multiplatforms support...pretty curious to see what it is and if Switch version will be on pair, at least content and feaures wise, with the PS4/XB1 version.

FIFA is selling constantly well all around the clock. Check some sales data, it's always in the top 5 if not top. So this is a non-issue. EA will not expect sales like at its launch, but normal sales for the kind of install base Switch gets. There's no conspiracy.
They have to put at least one version of Madden on the Switch, since EA as exclusive rights to the NFL they must put Madden on every main console or handheld that comes out. That is why WiiU had Madden at launch and 3DS even had Madden at launch. Also they have fifa rights which they have to put it on the system too.
At least one version of Fifa and Madden will be on Switch regardless, I really doubt this big game is Fifa or Madden, when they were a given.

If they were to go with Fifa then hopefully their plan would be to have 17 at launch and then 18 as soon as that comes out.
If the whole hook is "hey, it's Fifa but now you can play it ANYWHERE" then hopefully that would take the sting out of it being a late port. A game like that should probably be on Switch as soon as possible.

We don't know that they're only developing one game for the Switch, just that they're testing one of their bigger games (I assume they mean budget wise which is likely Mass Effect) to assess whether they'll continue to support it. They probably have a handful of Switch games in development. I don't imagine the porting process for Fifa is that tricky assuming the system can run Frostbite, I'm probably wrong though.
Nope. They will use Frostbite, it makes no sense to port an old engine, as Nirolak pointed out.

It's unclear if it's just one game, the first quote they gave is:
“In terms of Nintendo, in their announcement they announced that we’ll be supporting with a game or two on that new platform. We haven’t yet announced what game, but you should assume that it’s one of our bigger games we’ve been involved with.”
It sounds like a handful of games, 2 at least. Either way it doesn't sound like anything crazy but hopefully it will lead to bigger things.

Hey, if they finally put out a remastered collection that comes with all of the dlc it would be totally worth $60. Certainly not the kind of thing you want to kick off a system launch with but I'd be into this. lol
