EA Will Bring “One of their Bigger Games” To Nintendo Switch

They were all late ports. All of them. Nobody would buy them. It was EA's fault for expecting people to buy inferior late ports. That's the point.

Fifa wasn't a late port. It couldn't have released earlier because there was no Wii U earlier. The same with FIFA on PS4 and Xbone at launch who was also "late" by that standard.

NFS was a remaster practically. People bought remasters on PS4 and Xbone. Even even only 9 months after the original game.

Yes, EA also did some dumb moves, like Mass Effect port, but there was also no market for their games on Wii U. EA didn't blame anybody. EA analysed the situation and took appropriate action.

Realize that 'one of their bigger games' could very well mean any game they have that isn't mobile. Because they create a shitload of mobile ports as well that bring in a ton of money.

Considering how strong Fifa and esports is pushed (bein sports announcement today), and yhe esports part of switch's trailer, I'd say it would be the most likely EA title.

There's nothing mishandled about Batlefront 2 if there is no market for it on Switch.

You seem awfully confident that there would be no market for it based on no data, and that Disney would be fine just being told there is no market based on that very same no data.

You didn't follow the discussion. It all started with this post. So no, I'm not confident that there will be no market on Switch. I actually hope there will be one. I like the idea of playing 3rd party games on the go. But I'm pretty confident that EA didn't already make a decision to port a game that's coming in Fall 2017.

I think Garden Warfare 2 would be a good one. It appeals to the same demographic as something like Splatoon, has local multiplayer built-in already and would be a good test case for Frostbite on the platform.

FIFA will also probably come, not at launch.

FIFA is their biggest game, so it should be something smaller but still big. Also I think FIFA/Madden/NHL 18 are going to hit the Switch like they did with the Wii U, so those shouldn't be considered.

Garden Warfare? Mirrors Edge? Titanfall?

Also I'm pretty sure they did a FIFA 3ds port at one point. Maybe they also did Madden though, not sure

I guess it depends on if you think Star Wars Battlefront has sold what it has because it is first and foremost a Star Wars game, or a Battlefront one.

If you believe the former, the only way to assess the market for Star Wars games is to actually release Star Wars games. I'm pretty sure Disney believe its success is down to the Star Wars brand. I know I do.

If you believe it's a Battlefront game first and foremost, and Star Wars is just the gravy on what would otherwise have been amazing sales even with EAs own iconic characters and environments, then okay.

"One of their bigger games" screams either Battlefield, Star Wars or FIFA, but going with the Switch's reveal trailer alone, we're inclined to believe it's FIFA 17 with some on-the-go features.

Would be surprising if BF1 ends up being on Switch.

It's still a very traditional (mostly) multiplayer shooter. The first one was not even a great shooter in my experience. The shooter market is still huge enough to drive those sales.
How Star Wars fans who don't like shooters do you think are buying Battlefront? Those people are more likely to buy Lego Star Wars or upcoming adventure Star Wars games, but those are farther in the future.

And there is no guarantee that Nintendo still has the Star Wars fans audience that much, with no real Star Wars game here in the recent years.

Can't say I'm excited to see FIFA, knowing it will control worse than the PES games on Wii many years ago. How are their NHL games these days?
Other than that, I'd probably buy Battlefield but not sure how well that controls on a dual analog setup...

Yeah, don't even bother EA, we don't care anymore.

Based on their Wii U support, it'll be 1 half-assed port of a game every other system has had for at least a year and a half released within weeks of these other systems getting an enhanced port as part of a compilation, and at a lower price. Then no further games because they used the game they sent to die as an excuse for not supporting the system.

Who's ready for some launch-tier Star Wars: Battlefront?

It's going to be FIFA. They even shit that out on Wii U.

EA's statement there does not fill me with confidence with regards to third party support. Though I can't imagine what would drive me to buy a non-exclusive third party game on the Switch over my PC or PS4 Pro.

"one of our other games we've been involved with"

It's going to be Star Wars. They probably have no choice.

EA wouldn't put a home grown game on a Nintendo console.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
I really hope that whatever they do bring, it won't be an absurdly late port. Even if they're empty-handed for launch.

#1 selling point of the console

Shitty console confirmed.

You know this joke had to come, sooner or later, come on

Recently?

And I'm guessing FIFA.

I think that image "only just" solidified in the Wii era, so yeah I'd consider 10 years relatively recently in Nintendo's big history.

Before the Wii era, even though they had a lot of kid-friendly IPs, they weren't inferior to the "mature segment" that Sony and Microsoft have kept building on gen 6 and onwards.

Tantalus has worked with EA on the Mass Effect 3 port. They teased they are working on a port, so it might be Andromeda. Testing a simultaneous release would be a better indicator of the market than late ports, which is the only thing EA did on the Wii U.

It's already clarified that it's mostly likely not Andromeda.

Death is the pause of multiplayer games.
You never experienced the "incredibly fast running to go pee when you're dead in [insert_shooter_game] and come back before the respawn" ?

Well, *cough and gets the trailer voice* Now you don't need to sacrifice your future health for short term gains. Switch the way you play games and pee. Once you feel the need, take Switch out of the dock and continue playing while maintaining a healthy body. *drop mic and cut out to shooting noises coming behind a toilet door*

They've had the "kiddy" stigma ever since the Mortal Kombat debacle on the SNES, really. Even though they had some adult/mature-oriented games on the N64, GC and Wii, they were still thought of as the kiddy/family alternative to Sony and MS.
