Gun store owners 'seeing up to four times as many black and minority customers'

The only thing white America hates more than politically active black people are black people with guns. I wonder how this will pan out.

I'll ask my boyfriend to take me the range sometime. Isn't owning a gun expensive?

It all depends. You can go all out and spend tens of thousands, or keep it simple and spend no more than you would spend on any other hobby. A casual day at the range isn't too bad, usually $30 to $60 depending on what you're doing. The gun is the only big one time cost.

It's what we tell ourselves to feel better about losing the election.

These people don't count.

Literally just told a friend yesterday out of the blue "I think I'm going to get a gun."

I had never wanted to be or ever considered being a gun owner, not even for a second, my entire life.

I'm one of them, was planning on getting a pistol eventually but Trump kinda accelerated the process. I'm not getting a concealed carry license, this is for home protection only. In public a small can of pepper spray on a keychain + running away works well enough for me.

Read up on them. Buy what is right for you. Take some classes with a professional. Lock it up when not in use.

I took a concealed carry course this year. My job requires me to be on call and work late at night. Our business was broken into twice since I've been working there. Every time I go out on call, I carry a 9mm pistol. I keep it locked up when not in use. Also buy a good holster.

I've hunted my whole life, but I was a little nervous when buying a handgun, but the people that taught me were very professional and I learned a lot from them.

Remember when the black panthers exercised the 2nd amendment? yeah that ended up with gun restrictions in california, and if I'm not wrong the governor at the time was the saint Reagan

Be careful with a gun. First time i went shooting i actually seriously cut my hand cause i held the handgun in the wrong place when i cocked it back and let go. It closed and cut my skin. They can be dangerous in unexpected ways.

But yeah go buy guns. Another anomaly of this election is i went from being anti-gun to 'gotta buy me a gun' overnight almost. Im not a minority though. I just fear hatred.

So your biggest concern here is people having guns and not the PoC needing guns because of white people assaulting them?

Yes, because more guns is never the solution. Never worked, never will. It will only escalate the level of agression directed among them.

Was this on a shooting range?

The hand thing is something I wouldn't have thought about, but it's one of the first things our trainer told us about.

Good, the more minorities get armed, the more quickly gun ban will happen.
This is a naive way of looking at it. Ask that will happen is that certain people will find it harder to get a gun

But certain people I mean Minorities obviously. Even if you support a total gun ban you have to see that piecemeal legislation and laws aimed solely at a certain demographic is unjust

The Right protests while carrying openly and I rarely(never) see the same show of force in response to them that we see to BLM-related or NoDApl protests who aren't typically armed, as far as I know. Liberals need to take a break from concerns over gun legislation. That's not something I would've said 6 months ago, but it's pretty God damn clear that we've got bigger fish to fry. Plus, as far as political expediency goes, being the "anti-gun" party disqualifies Democrats for a ton of one-issue voters.

I remember Killer Mike getting shit for his stance on guns (I don't trust these mother fuckers enough to NOT be armed). Hell, Sanders was admonished for being relatively centrist on the issue. The fight for sweeping gun legislation is a guaranteed loss in this country so we might as well adopt the "if you can't beat them..." strategy for at least a while.

It was in the waiting room of an outdoor range, you werent supposed to take the gun out of the case but we broke the rules as most didnt seem to care.

I've really been going back and forth about getting a CC permit as well as a shotgun for my home. My wife keeps telling me that she's against it, but understands why I'd want to do so.

While I'm glad to see people exercising their right to self defense, I'm worried they might fall prey to the same risks as other gun owners in not properly understanding and securing their firearms. I brought my friend whose an immigrant to the range with several of my other buddies and we showed him proper safety and handling techniques.

He and his brother will be getting handgun permits soon as well, and I've been considering resuming work on my own build as well. Not too comfortable buying used mechanical parts, but I'd also like to avoid buying from anywhere that would see my money given to the NRA.

DC gun laws are super strict. I can't have handgun but a shotty is a-okay.

But I expect someone of color to get shot because "they had a gun on them and it made me uncomfortable."

Getting a gun is not going to be a problem.

There is a reason all the gun control laws in Chicago aren't diminishing gun crime much. As the police there will even confirm, most guns used in crimes just get bought outside the city and the state and get brought in and sold.

This is also why the whole conservative line that "X or Y has strict gun control, look at all the crime!!!" Is so ignorant.

It is not a difficult operation to just go to lax states, get a front man to buy on the private market and hire a couple people to help transport the guns into major cities.

What hate crimes were being committed against white people again?
I know a few coworkers who bought guns when Obama was elected. It wasn't really about hate crimes, half thought Obama was going to pass legislation to Outlaw guns and the other half through crime was going to increase cus the Democrats are soft on crime. It's the whole Liberals want to neuter police tactics, decriminalize drugs and release lots of criminals from prison.

Statistics say you are increasing risk to your family with a gun in the home more then reducing it.

Any thoughts on the Sig Sauer P238? Just threw some gun ideas at my SO and he chuckled about my interest in guns. I told him the other week when hate crimes were starting to boost that I was considering getting a gun. He teased me because he knows how I don't like guns and that he was kind of surprised. He said he'll personally teach me how to use a gun if I get one and it'd make a fun date. Yay? He likes going to the range sometimes so he's shocked I've been won over to the "side of reason" lol.

Good, the more minorities get armed, the more quickly gun ban will happen.

So the most important thing about this is that guns end up banned... not that minorities feel the need to be armed.

And your hope is that they lose the ability to defend themselves from real threats like white supremacists feeling like they can do whatever they want, as opposed to nonsense like having your guns taken away by Obama's power of condensed Islam.

Okay then.

NRA/Gun lobbyists have won. There will be no support left for gun control laws because people have given up and decided to just turtle up and protect themselves.

I remember this statistic and it's why I'm so nervous about this. My heart says to ask myself while my brain says I shouldn't. To be fair, my reasoning isn't one for home defense but self defense period.

We don't have kids (yet) so it's a big reason I consider it.

I mean do you. I'm not willing to take the risk. Here's the thing. The way a lot of people are feeling in this thread....that's the way I've felt since I read my history and lived my life. I was never under any illusion that I live in a place where a sizable portion of the population would like to see me dead.

That is such a shame. No one should live like they're not wanted.

Lot of these incidents of racial intimidation are happening to women, children, what these racists think are targets who cant put up a good physical fight.

I'm really glad I've Ben doing martial arts because it forces me to carry myself extreme confidence. This will put some off from messing with me but this won't stop someone who is really trying to push it and I'm not naive enough to want to solely rely on my martial arts training if shit hits the fan.

I asked before, but what was California's gun ownership like before? If open carry wasn't something many people did, then it seems easier to pass some anti-gun legislation and apply it to everyone, even if it was created solely because of black people owning guns.

Do you think the same could pass today? If more minorities started to carry in a state that allowed open carry, would a bill get passed that banned open carry?

It's christmas for the NRA. After seeing minorities arm themselves, the remaining whites not yet carrying will buy guns for protection because they will feel even more uncomfortable, and the white supremacists and cops will be even more trigger happy (if that's possible).

What could go wrong ?
