Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

So I finally started playing Pokémon Sun, I didn't get very far but I chose Rowlet and caught a Yungoos.

So far I am enjoying this more than X and Y as I get a sense of scale of the Alola region something that Kalos was lacking.

Use ditto. If you don't have Ditto, Wimpod needs to be female. The female will pass down its species.

Hyper training artificially boosts your IVs. The stats only show up during battle. If you were to breed it, the child would not inherit the boosted IVs, but the natural ones. Breeding is the better option because you have to train the Pokemon to level 100 to hyper train.

I still don't completely understand.

If I have a 6IV neutral nature Incineroar at level 100 that I got through breeding, and doesn't use Hidden Power, and then I have a level 100 Incineroar that I did Hyper Training on and got "6IV" on it, and also doesn't use Hidden Power. Both having the same EV spread, what is the difference between them?

I'm pretty sure nothing would be different about them when you're battling. If you used hidden power, then yes, it will be different if their natural IVs are not the same.

Edit: Although different natures would also affect their stats, I would imagine.

The warm fuzzy feeling I got from the main story quickly disappeared when I reset over and over trying to get an Adamant Solgaleo lol

I know a lot of people are disappointed with Ultra Training, but it has a lot of obvious utility for unbreedable Pokemon and your story run through.

I forgot to mention in my scenario the natures would be the same. So then they would effectively be the same. That's useful to know.

I got my Lunala with a Synchronize mon leading, it was easy to be honest. You can even fly away to get it, you're not locked to that place.

So what teams you guys are using/building for battle tree? I'm using a baton pass team but I always eventually get fucked by a focus sash user that gets lucky with a stab crit one shot on my espeon (only pokemon with actual offensive moves in my team of 3, and crits bypass all my buffed defenses). I think I'll ditch them for a pure fast offensive team with the widest move coverage possible as I can't rely on baton pass buffs.

Dumb question about Hyper Training: According to what I read, it doesn't actually max IVs, but if I understand it correctly it still gives you the stat benefits as if they were maxed, correct?

So in another words, for all intents and purposes other than Hidden Power, it is the same as having the IVs maxed, right?

Trying to see if they actually effectively got rid of the old tedious method of getting a 5 or 6 IV Pokemon. I really hope they did.

IMO breeding a 5IV Pokemon is way easier than getting a Pokemon to level 100 and getting enough bottle caps to levels 5 stats.

Yeah. I'm not 100% sure personally but that's definitely what I've read from other posts/sites, and it makes sense. The big drawback to Hyper Training, of course, is that your pokemon have to be level 100 for it to work.

Does anyone have a magmarizer or a Magmortar I can have? I'm dying trying to get one from the wild Magbys.

On the plus side I have a small army of female Salandits now if anyone wants one.

You get a free Magmarizer and Electerizer on the 4th island.

Metroidvania

People called Romanes they go the house?
Urgh, Sophocles is trolling the shit out of me with Festival Plaza level ups.

First it's a bunch of 1/2 star friendship cafes and ball shops....and then I get a 5-star blue dye shop, lmao.

Go to the above posted thread and post there. I'll trade you one I wont ever need.

Pretty much. Seriously, who thought needing to have them get to level 100 and needing a ton of shards for bottle caps was a good idea?

Finally got my Bold Mareanie. IVs are shit tier, but I'll just breed another one when I actually start to think about making a decent online play team.

Got the Everstone from Ilima. Thanks to everyone that told me how to get it. I would've completely missed it otherwise. That's gonna make breeding a whole hell of a lot easier in the future.

On a side note, I think that trying to find a Sandygast is right now my #1 example of why the encounter rates are fucked up in this game. You've got this cool looking brand new Pokemon with an interesting type combination and you can only find it in this one place. But, because the encounter rates are fucked up for Alolan Pokemon, you're WAY more likely to find a bunch of Staryu instead, a Pokemon that's been in more of these games than I can count.

It's like Gamefreak has gone out of their way to make Gen 7 Pokemon as annoyingly hard to find as possible, while making plain old Gen 1 Pokemon super easy to find. I fucking hate it.

That's interesting... Anyone confirm?

So in another words, for all intents and purposes other than Hidden Power, it is the same as having the IVs maxed, right?
Well, not totally. It depends on why you want high IVs.

For example, that would mean that you still need good dittos, since you can't up its IVs with bottle caps to get a 6-IV ditto.

Trying to see if they actually effectively got rid of the old tedious method of getting a 5 or 6 IV Pokemon. I really hope they did.
I don't think it's that tedious, and using bottle caps is probably more tedious than breeding efficiently for 5-IVs. It may help for 6-IV, but probably not if you want a 0 IV. And it definitively won't help if you want a specific HP.

So no, I don't think it'll change much for normal pokemons (breeding time is far lower than most think).

The main difference is that you probably won't have to SR legendaries for great IVs, which is far worse than IV breeding.

Yep. Bottle caps will strictly be for Legendary / event Pokemon for me. Breeding IVs is so simple now.
How do you get bottle caps?

True in Gen 2, not true in every other gen
I see... I thought they somehow put this back into Gen VII. Too bad :/

Tapu Bulu destroyed the market because people built it around its secret place. Is it the Pokemon Jesus? lol

I'm hoping the follow-up deals with the events that come to pass now that the tapus all live in some kids pc. Do the police break down because they have to do their job now? Does commercial expansion run rampant in the once sacred places?

Can someone please explain the differences between sun and moon? My cousin asked me to get them for his bday and I don't know if I should get one or the other or both. Thanks a lot!

Maybe they continue to do their normal jobs as dieties, and only to come to the player's aid once he or she needs it.

Or they're like my Lunala and they work in the coal mines

All the best attack TMs are post-game dammit.

I feel weird about TMs in this game.

On one hand, you find Brick Break and Scald really early on and they are much more powerful than any of the 40-60BP moves your Pokemon have naturally at that point. Having a puny little Pikipek with Brick Break changes the experience drastically.

On the other hand... I actually don't know what point I was going to make. TMs just feel unusual. Like, I can teach Brick Break, Rock Tomb, and Acrobatics to a Mankey I just got and wreck house non-stop.

But I have no good fire or electric moves at all.

Aside from each having a couple of Pokemon unique to them, the biggest change is that the clock in Moon is off by 12 hours, meaning noon IRL = midnight in the game.

Is there someone that wants to trade me a female salandit with a good nature? I've trained a male one since I didn't know that only female one can evolve. Help! :p

There's far more Gen 7 Pokemon that you find normally than those odd ways. I like having a few hard to find Pokemon. That being said, why not use the GTS? It pretty much makes rare encounters moot anyway.

whats up with the massive frame drops whenever there are more than 2 pokemon on screen? does the new 3ds help alleviate that? might be worth trying to track down the $99 BF ones.

Nihilego, Buzzwole, and Kartana down, just Guzzlord (I think?) left to go.
Got a really good Kartana, so I probably can start taking on the Battle Tree.

Bewear hits like a freaking truck. Loving this guy, especially with Hammer Arm dropping Speed for further Trick Room shenanigans.

In other news, just got Wonder Traded a Vigoroth. Hacked, I assume?
