ReCore T8NK Trailer

I'm not sure if I want to click this link. Someone care to explain what we're talking about here? New PC, new levels?

the T8NK corebot that (I can't really remember if this is true) was cut from the game? His parts could still be found in drops though, so it was kinda weird.

Isnt this content that was missing from the release? Like I think the tank stuff was hinted at in some of the promo stuff pre release.

I REALLY wish this had been in it when I played through last month haha. The amount of time I wasted just boosting across the desert haha....hopefully there's a bit of DLC story or dungeon content to come with, give me a good reason to go back in.

I just started Recore this week. What a fun game! Reminds me collecting jiggys in Banjo Kazooie. How did this game sell? Any chance of getting a sequel?

This is how I'm thinking too. I went through and got 100% achievements for the game because I loved it, but unless this robot comes with more content as well, it's a little useless now. There are literally only two areas currently in the game that "require" it. I do wonder what actually happened, because it's clear that T8NK was always intended to be in the game (promo screens, the blueprints, etc). Did they run out of time and think it was better to do it this way, rather than delay it? Or, is it going to be a more sinister situation, where they cut content to sell as DLC? If it is anything other than free, I can see there being quite a lot of conversation about it.

P.s give the game a try if you're on the fence, it's really great!

It didn't sell or review well but I think it could find an audience over time if they commit to fixing all the technical issues--it's a game that people really want to like.

Kinda weird they're supporting this game so much with HDR and now T8NK considering how badly it sold. QB for comparison was dropped like a bad smell. Wonder if this is hinting there'll be a Recore 2?

Yeah I've had an instance where I fell through the floor to my death in a dungeon. The load times are also quite long. Otherwise though the game itself is really fun to play. Combat, platforming, crafting and puzzles are all fun to do.

Are there any other games this gen similiar to Recore? Third person action game with fun combat and platforming.

I'm playing this game right now and it's so cool and fun. Obviously it's a flawed mid budget game but it gives me PS2/GameCube platformer vibes with metroid prime lock on and side boosting. I'm loving it. Still only have Mack right now. I'm taking my time.

Well that explains why the last desert area is so damn large. Really wish this had been there at launch.

In any case, I'm glad I kept it installed. Looking forward to playing it again when this releases.

I was sort of tempted by Recore, but wasn't struck on any of the three current robots. This has flipped circumstances into a "Yeah, I'll buy that".

Is it still Windows Store only on PC?

I would bet that QB was moreso developed by Remedy with very little hand by MS where I see MS more involved with ReCore. I think Phil has been hinting to that and I think (hope) it will be bigger and better in the sense that it can be their Zelda/Tomb Raider type of game. I wouldn't be surprised to see a ReCore 2 in 2019.

I keep all games installed. :) That 4TB external I bought at launch hasn't let me down. (still under 30%)

Yes. I doubt you'll see it outside of the Windows Store.

T4NK, surely?

I got sidetracked from Recore a while back. I'm glad it's getting updates, seems like it'll be a more fun game for first timers and might have replayability for people who've already played it too.

Should I put it off further in the hope of a 60fps Scorpio patch though?

I cant find the article now because im at work but microsoft has stated before that the game released at $40 to help gather interest because they wanted the game to be a series with multiple entries.

Has anyone from MS talked to how releasing an unfinished game helps them achieve that goal? Or how pushing out one of the most technically unpolished games ever from a major publisher helps them build franchises? Would love to hear how those decisions made any goddamn sense.

Maybe it didn't sell as bad as you might think ;). There is more to selling than first week sale. If it sold like 5000 a week world wide since release... (including digital releases) it might actually be at a "decent" number now.

I mean there must be a reason why it is supported ;).

Seriously there is FAR worse out there in case of "unfinished", people tried to treat and review the game as a big budget AAA title with super high expectations. When it was always scheduled to be a cheap average AA title.

But oh well... it's gamers so... OUTRAGE RAAAAAAAH! :D

It's really disheartening to see how little post launch support QB got. QB really needed it to add extra replay value because after you 100% you can close the book there.

On the up side Phil Spencer said they were pleased with the sales of ReCore during the Black Friday deals so I think there's good hope for a sequel.

Darn it, was hoping it'd get a separate release like Quantum Break did.

Quantum Break was an exemption, not a rule. I'm personally pretty sure you won't see a lot of 1st party AAA games from MS outside of the Windows Store. Minecraft being one of them cuz that game is any and everywhere.

While i agree it was very unpolished and felt rushed I do think there are much worse from major publishers. It still is not an acceptable state for a game thats supposed to start a new series from one of the big 3. It needed more time and if they want ReCore 2 to sell well at $60 they need a whole lot more time and money and polish put into it.

Really a questionable decision, the game didn't sell gang busters and has to rely on word of mouth but instead of delaying it and including things like this tank they push it out early with an inordinate amount of bugs... Doesn't seem wise

I'd like to know this too. It's penny wise and pound foolish.

Microsoft already had Forza Horizon 3 and Gears 4 for their Autumn lineup, pushing ReCore out of the door with cut content and serious performance issues was really stupid. If it ran at 1080p60 without the horrible load times (low and mid 20s fps during combat is unacceptable) and had twice as many story dungeons it would have been getting 8s and 9s in reviews and it wouldn't have needed a budget price.

This should have been a cult-classic and the start of a franchise, instead it's going to die like a fart in the wind.

I was wondering when we were going to hear anything about this.

ReCore may be pretty flawed (mostly things like loading times and seemingly-arbitrary framerate drops), but it's still definitely a fun game. I'd rather see more lower-budget-but-riskier games like this, than I would more super-safe-AAA-budget-UbisoftGame™ games any day.

He's not wrong though.

I think it's obvious at this point that the game needed a few more months of development given all the patches and content updates it's been getting. It's gotten the same "Get this game done by a certain deadline for sales purposes" treatment Microsoft gave the Master Chief collection which really hurt the franchise so it sucks to see them do it with ReCore.

Granted the game is in much better form today than it was during launch but for a MS owned property it definitely shouldn't have launched the way it did if they wanted it to succeed. Still, I'm really happy to see the game get the support it needed even if later than I would have wanted.

Just because it's AA does not mean I should set my expectations for all the glitches. I've played indie games made by a single person with more polish than this game.

I had the game from launch and experienced every glitch I've seen documented such as falling through the floor, platforms and geometry not loading forcing me to exit and reload, getting sent back to the beginning of the game, getting stuck in geometry, being respawned on platforms with moving obstacles only to knocked off repeatedly, crashing, etc. all multiple times.

Despite all that I am still very fond of it and that's what upsets me most. MS found a team to make something special and fun, something with a unique hook in a genre they lack, something they expressed interest in wanting to be a new franchise, and they handicap it worse than I've seen them do to any other game in a long time.

I'm glad they're adding in the bot, but they still have a lot to do to right this wrong if they truly want a new franchise out of it.
