Nier has some DLC.

Outfit DLC, I mean.

nier had a dlc which had the brother nier costume (unless it was a younger version of father nier). and Drakengard 3 had paid costume dlc (which also came with a weapon and music track iirc)

Oh alright.

Loading screen animation DLC when.

Fantastic demo. Still hard to believe this dev team-up is happening, let alone delivering.

re:costume DLC - we'll 99% get some. Platinum usually offers a stupendous amount of alternates.

I know that we're going to have different models for the floaty robot thing (which i think is voiced by Wesker's (RE) english voice actor
which would be important to remember he voiced the other book in nier

Holy shit, I didn't make the connection.
If we get a Liam O'Brien voiced pod, ow-ow-ow, my heart.

This is exactly what I hoped for.

This isn't a Platinum Action Game with a Nier skin, this is Nier with a Platinum-styled gameplay with set pieces. Huge focus on ranged attacks, an absurd amount of glowing red bullets, constantly changing camera angles and the transparent letter boxing for cutscenes. I can see some of those things being a turn-off for the crowd who came for another Platinum game only.

My main concern was that with Platinum doing the heavy lifting that we'd get a standard Character Action Game that didn't feel like the original. This doesn't feel like that. This is the first time the gameplay of a Yoko Taro game hasn't been awful. I'm very thankful the game seems to have kept it's identity.

The game plays perfectly and is so visually striking. The boss of the demo was already a great experience and that's before it goes into it's final phase and goes nuts. Music is still on point and voice acting was superb.

My most anticipated game along with Persona 5. 2017 is gonna slay.

Hell yes to all of this, I'm pleasantly surprised how much the demo still has that Nier identity, whilst still having that Platinum polish.

Just finished my first playthrough of the demo. Loved every minute of it, easily my GOTY next year. I'm calling it now at least in terms of the kind of gameplay and world atmosphere I've been looking for.

Did my first playthrough on Normal. Seemed a bit too easy with that setting, I would assume most Platinum games fans recommend Hard? Having no lock-on is a strange omission to the setting though, why not just make it harder?

Definitely go hard. Using the lock-on is kinda awkward anyway.

Just beat the demo on Hard and it's the 2nd best thing i've played this year right next to Doom.

The combat, music, camera angles and especially DAT Boss Fight are pure awesomeness

Yeah, I'll be going Hard in the full game. The enemies are noticeably more aggressive, which makes combat a lot more fun. Losing lock-on is a weird trade-off, but the game plays fine without it.

Nice, gonna do another run tomorrow on Hard. Game feels wonderful, it's gonna be long 3 months.

Yeah I bet the game is a nice balance on Hard. The lock-on sometimes made stuff look cooler and more cinematic but I agree I never felt like I needed to use it.

As a ninja gaiden black master mode player, vanquish and metal gear rising platinum collector...I approve of this game.

Long live platinum games studios.

How do you do that launcher?

All weapons' moveset depends on the slot it's equipped in.

So switch to set 2 to get the katana in the second slot, then to do a launcher, quickly jump then hit Triangle while low to the ground to launch the enemy. If you jump too high you will do an attack that grounds the enemy instead.

Oh, that's cool, I didn't experiment much with the alternate weapon loadout. Interesting that it's the same launcher input as The Wonderful 101 :p
