How do I get the definitive update if I own the regular version? The store is trying to charge me full price instead of $5.

Xbox support say the offer is over. Although some reckon it'll come back after the Ultimate Game Sale is finished.

Replaying the Definitive Edition now that I got my PS4 controller hooked up.

Did you guys optimize this version technically? I haven't played a PC game in a while but I can do full screen 1080p with no slow downs if I turn off vsync and motion blur. I had to run windowed mode back during the original release. I did get a SSD.

Also the Ginso Tree is still probably the best thing in gaming. Just finished it getting all collectibles on Hard and I've got goosebumps.

Loved the new content and new mechanic, especially since you can bash off of it. Great job with the definitive edition guys. This'll be one of those games I boot up every year.

When I finally got my GamerTag back this was the first thing I bought. Have waited so long to try it and so far it is glorious.

Dem feels at the start even although I seen it coming a mile off lol. Played a few hours worth now.

Yesterday i bought the DE and i have started with the game. It's not like this is the first time i am playing it though. I've had the Ori and the Blind Forest since launch and i played it a lot but after a while i started to play some other games and eventually i just never got around to continuing with it. Since i've been out of it for so long....why not start over completely with all the extra added stuff?

How much extras does the DE actually contain? I figured the 5 dollars would be more than worth it, no doubts about that.By the way, am i the only one who has disabled motion blur? I like the constant crisp look and with motion blur enabled it's of course different. Not sure yet if i leave it off though.

Finally got around to playing this and finished it over the weekend. Great game! Thanks for taking the time to work on the Definitive Edition. It was GOTY for a friend of mine last year and he has recommended it to me for a while so I was finally able to tell him that I'd played it (and cried at a few points).

Beautiful artwork and music. Heck, all around gorgeous game with animations, etc. too

Any good aa options for pc version via nvidia control panel or inspector? I want to play in 3d but being limited to 720p means good aa is important. Thx.

Walked into an EBgames up here in Canada for the first time in a bit and was surprised to see the retail version of Ori up here. Ended up importing it for me and my friends via a US GAF member when it looked like it wasn't going to release in this region but I'm happy to see it finally made it over.

I wonder how the retail version ended up selling?

Finished this a few weeks ago. I hated the escape events, but the rest was easy enough. Wasn't as thrilled as I thought I'd be given the reactions I saw around here.

I just finished my 100% run of this game today (which was also my first time playing Ori). This is a gorgeous title with swell background music. But the difficulty, whoo boy. On Normal Mode the game had me perishing left and right. I thought I was a platforming veteran. While that helped me pick up on using multiple abilities quickly within the environment; I was not prepared for how many times I'd die.

I was thinking during play that maybe I was a great outlier here and was just playing the game very wrong. I cussed Ori and their Blind Forest many times from some of the deaths, to which a vast majority were avoidable (in retrospect). Yes, there is an Easy difficulty, but I trucked through Normal because I didn't want to neuter an average experience of the game simply due to some of my own frustrations. Plus, with gaming experience under my belt, I assumed I didn't need to. I wonder how more gaming-lite players take on the game though.

The game is good and I respect that it obviously came from a place of solid level design knowledge and platformer/adventure game experience, but did Ori's environment have to be so ruthless?

In case you guys haven't seen it yet, we just released our official Ori plushie :)'

I know, price seems a little hefty at first, but that thing is huge and heavy and it's basically 2 plushies in one :)

I beat this 2 weeks ago, still have the extra content to go through. Overall it´s an awesome game, really gorgeous looking, with a ton of personality and with some really intelligent and creative gameplay mechanics and systems. But there were also some things I didn´t like at all:
  • Too many glowing things: Between Ori, the collectibles, the enemy attacks and some pieces of the scenery sometimes it´s hard to see what´s going on.
  • The escape sequences: Pure trial and error and huge spikes of difficulty. They were really espectacular, but ultimately became tedious due to their trial and error nature. Once I´d seen them I had no problem getting through each one of them, but the process of getting to know them was not very fun and too frustrating.
  • The game ends too quickly: I´m not complaining that it´s short, but rather that after the third dungeon I was expecting a final temple or something. I left many secrets for later in the overworld and was very surprised that the game ended just after the volcano :S I still have the extra content pending, but the main story felt like it needed something else after the last dungeon.

Just with better escape sequences this would´ve become a masterpiece for me. Still, it´s a great, great, great game.

I actually didn't mind the escape sequences and didn't have to try a crazy amount of times with them. They were rather straightforward, I found.

I'm also glad the game ended where it did, as while I found the game largely good, I did not enjoy exploring it and new areas. If the game were any longer, I'd likely just curse it for being too long. It teetered right on the edge of that for me and ended in time for me to not have to completely drag my feet into more free respawns.

However, I will add that the default Stomp command being activated simply pressing down on the analog stick mid-air was a poor control decision and hampered my enjoyment of controlling Ori.

Just started Ori and have reached the sign post pointing to Spirit Caverns, Hollie Grove, and Black Root Burrows. Does it matter which areas I go to first?

I'm playing on normal and would appreciate any tips for a beginner?

Oh, and this game looks stunning.

It's a metroid style game, you'll get stopped soon enough going the wrong ways, and exploring is half of the fun. In other words, no it doesn't matter :)

I started the game crying with sadness and now I'm crying with happiness.

This game is such an incredible feat. I would like to give my gratitude to everyone working on this.

The game, it's mechanics, the moving story, audiovisual work. Amazing.

I applaud you, Moon studios.

Just reached final artwork on credits. My eyes. Onions.

Guys Ori games got me puzzled, which one should be played first? You get 2ver after it's downloaded, thx.

I bought it days ago and started with DE. I don't think I will try original.
DE has new moves, locations and such - well, check the OT! Haha.

Such an amazing game.

Thx, interesting. So the original BF should be completely skipped as you pretty much looking at identical gms only DE having more bells and whistles..ok will fire this up soon.

i got this during the sale. it looks beautiful but i found it so frustrating. only managed a couple hours before i had to stop. usually i enjoy these type of games but this is doing my head in. might give it another chance though.

the controls feel awkward at times. mostly when climbing or trying to land on small platforms. i always seem to slip off which either kills me or makes me need to climb up again. i'm playing with a 360 controller. i doubt playing with keyboard/mouse would make it any easier.

i can't seem to figure out where to find the keys to unlock the doors. i needed 4 but couldn't find any. so i was just wandering back and forth not a clue what to do. and i just simply kept dying at some parts. one part there some kind of laser things shooting and i had to keep climbing on the wall to wait for it to stop and even then i kept dying because i couldn't for some reason climb another wall and there was little time to jump over the laser.

i'll give it another go at some point. it's probably just my own fault anyway :)

Stick with it. The game opens up once you get more traversal options and increase your Spirit Flame.

They're playing it on PC.

I see! Use the map a lot if you're not a one for remembering areas too well. It's great for seeing routes and unexplored areas! The platforming is quite harsh in the beginning, but remember to level up stuff that suits your style better first. One you get double and later on triple jump, traversal becomes much easier!

Oh and save often when you have enough energy before going into new and dangerous areas! Backtracking can be a pain if you die.

He's probably playing it on PC.

Does the $5 upgrade pricing still exist? The sale on Xbox One caught my eye, but when I go to the product page, it is saying it's $10 even though I own the original version.

I had the same exact issue yesterday, but it was that price because it was in a sale, which overwrote the reduced upgrade price. The sale is over, so if you check now, it's cheaper.

excited to play this game, bought the limited edition on an amazon flash sale the other day. supposed to come in the mail soon!

So just how difficult is this game? I enjoy a bit of challenge but am not into the idea of consistent frustration. Do you guys recommend Easy or Normal? I don't play too many of these types of games but don't want a cakewalk either.

I've beat the game on Normal and tried Easy for a bit for a no upgrade achievement run. From my experience Normal and Easy feel really similar at the beginning since you die so easily, but maybe the difficulty stratifies once you gain power ups and abilities.

The only real challenging parts are the timed escape sequences and I don't think they're different regardless of difficulty.
