IGN: No plans for Mass Effect Andromeda on Nintendo Switch

IGN link.
BioWare has stated that it currently does not expect to port the new entry in the Mass Effect series to Nintendo's latest console, the Switch.

"We’re not planning on it," Mass Effect Andromeda Producer, Michael Gamble explained to Stevivor. However, he did make clear that consumer demand could change that stance:
"If the Switch launches and everyone’s just yammering for Mass Effect, who knows. [sic] We never want to close doors like that.”

Does anyone remember how well Wii U!ME3 did?

Edit: God, I hate IGN's all caps headlines.

Better launch it when Audromeda 3 ships... and release the whole trilogy elsewhere for the price of one.

But I suspect this is most likely performance related.

I thought we already knew this?

Are we going to get a multi-page thread every time a game isn't coming to Switch?

Hard to say, Intel GPUs will probably run the game on PC and they have lower performance.

But we'll get Mass Effect Trilogy at the same time the other devices get Andromeda, for a higher price, right?

That's the strategy they used on Wii U :p

I'd suspect this is going to be just one of many titles passing on the Switch due to mainly or at least partly the specs.

Extremely disappointing.

Nintendo should be paying a lot of money and trying as hard as they can to get these big western third party games on Switch.

This isn't a slight against OP but rather against IGN UK: Why is this being passed as news? I recall reading that same exact comment around mid December at least.

Yes, the source on the article itself has a December 19 date. So IGN randomly decided to grab something that had already been reported elsewhere weeks ago and treat it as new without actually updating the info at all?

I know this is a joke, but I feel obligated to once again remind people that Andromeda is not a trilogy.

Bioware is done making Mass Effect trilogies. Now it's just going to be connected games a la Dragon Age.

There are technical limitations to be considered. It´s not about the money.

Heh, thought that's gonna be the EA game for Switch, coincides with the launch nicely.

So I guess it's gonna be FIFA from EA then.

Also hoping this will cool down those dreams about third party games on Switch.

It's certainly a stupid idea to miss a new market with so much buzz in the same month that you are launching your product because Millions of your potential customers are spending 100s of dollars on a new platform and games for that platform. In the end Mass Effect 4 will do well, but this is a loss of sales, I wouldn't be happy on the decision if I held EA Stock.

That'll just leave them with shitty, expensive ports. Bioware aren't going to go out of their way when there's far more money to be made elsewhere. They should try as hard as they possibly can to get stuff like Persona 5 though and games of a similar size.

Depends which ones. Desktop ones might be faster than Switch. Also, in what conditions. Game is likely running at 720p on Xbox One. If not lower. So for Switch... well.

Maturity, bitches.
Even if there was plans, wouldn't they still say there are no plans considering all announcements seem to be on hold until the Switch event?

It's kind of a shame, really. A collaboration seems like it'd be in order. Like an N7 Edition Switch, because it's the 7th Nintendo console.

I don't think shareholders will be upset, I doubt anyone is buying any Nintendo platform for 3rd party titles.

Disappointing? Given the technical limitations of the system, this is a good thing.

Inquisition was demonstrably crippled to get it to work on last gen systems. I'd really rather that Bioware doesn't cripple a game again to get it working on less powerful hardware.
