this might be for the movie, i'm sure the game awards had some VR thing for theAssassin's Creed movie

I Don't think so.
I don't remember having menu or multiplayer features in Assassin's Creed VR Movie Experience. Also that one was a movie, this one is powered by Unreal Engine 4.

A full game would be awesome, but this looks fun too I guess.

These devs need to see RE7 and realize it's not that hard to make a full VR game.

Assassins Creed escape room, I guess it could be good. I like escape room VR games but seems like a bit of a forced application of branding.

They should just clone Dishonoured using Windlands as reference and Slap the Assassins Creed skin over everything it would be ridiculously good.

This sounds pretty cool. Nice to see Ubi still going in for VR.

Actually AC would be pretty amazing. Plenty of games in VR use artificial locomotion. They could also use something like this for running, and then this for climbing.

Ehhh I don't know. I find those methods to be pretty lackluster. Creating a room based on the user's bounds or teleport to me have been the only successful methods so far. People are apparently fine with Resident Evil 7 though so what do I know?

Artificial locomotion works for a lot of people too though (not everyone though for sure) and climbing is pretty intuitive in the multiple games I've tried it. I don't know how you could make it work with teleportation but ideally, they'd focus on the climbing part anyway. Maybe bring in the Syndicate hook too.

This could be really cool, hope it's actually real/good. While I only own a PSVR, it's nice to see VR in general get love by bigger companies.

Also, feels nice to see an AC leak, it feels like it's been a while.

damn

vive and oculus?

We need more fucking games for high end VR. Especially from devs who have access to well known IPs.

Have to push this platform somehow. Still waiting on Fallout :|

parkour and climbing walls probably :D

everything works great in RE7 and i definitely want more full games, but i doubt AC is the right franchise.

There are already various parkour and climbing VR titles on Steam that works rather well. For example, the climbing mini game in Carnival VR.

Just going to post the e-mail i have to send to everyone now... Sorry to disappoint

Hey,

Tim van Kan here, Team lead for the ubisoft VR AC project.
This is a student project and isn't meant for commercial release or any form of release to be honest.
(it's also on my website as such: http://timvankan.com/ )

It's an opportunity for NHTV studens to work with a ubisoft IP and create a cool portfolio piece.
It is mainly just meant to experiment with the possibilities of VR.

This is unfortunately all I can say at this point. (NDA)

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please update the article as soon as possible.

Thank you and apologies.

Pretty cool idea for Ubisoft to offer up their IP to students as a way of encouraging some R&D into new experiences.

Story wise the Animus lends itself to VR perfectly, would be great to have some kind of 'Abstergo experience day' setup where they set you up and give you a glimpse at your previous lives.

Still pretty cool. Totally say you should see how far you can go with the concept, even if you only have time to experiment on the side. The franchise is known for its historical tourism, so it'd be really cool to 'walk' around 17th/18th century Paris.

You are the team lead for this project?

Its a bummer, but is there any slim chance that it will be converted to commercial released game if the reception is good or something?

Seems like a waste otherwise

I wish I could speak freely =P

Fucking posts like this are egregious and absolutely pointless. If you have nothing to say by virtue of embargo, then don't say anything at all.

Otherwise spill the beans or get the fuck out of here. Now people will be quoting asking for information they'll never be able to get because you wanted to appear as an insider.

Edit: I'm an asshole, just saw your email.

It's alright, I agree with what you mean in general. =) (not what I was aiming for but i guess you saw)

Yes, but this is a student project. And I am also a student. It's just my role in the team.

Not up to me to be honest and couldn't tell if I knew. Sorry man, maybe later during the year more can be said. :)
