Nintendo Switch Previews are coming in

Here we go. Keep up the reporting everyone. Part of me hates this part of launch. So much hyperbole mixed with genuine issues it's hard to sort it out.

As for the left joycon issue, it may be related to wifi.
I suspect the wifi chip is located on the left side of the Switch. Therefore, these desyng/lags may happen because wifi is activated and using the 2.4Ghz band, which is the same as the bluetooth band. So maybe some people didnt jave the issue either because wifi was off or connected to a 5ghz hotspot.

If anyone can try...

interesting! I thought wifi interruption might be fucking up with it too. However, mine is connected to 5ghz and I still had a few issues that are visible from the video I posted.

Not sure if it's relevant but Gameblog.fr just showed screens of Zelda (ultra low quality + thumbnails).

It's probably spoiling, so click at your own risk.

Breaking the NDA in the smartest of ways

These guys really are dumbasses

We are getting different battery durations of the same game on standard settings. Weird.

Could it be that some batteries are damaged or aged in a bad way during storage?

The polygon preview said they had hardware problem with the controllers becoming unsynched. That's not good.

Could be worrisome. Only thing keeping me calm is the fact that I did nott read a single report of this issue from any of the recent media or public events. Was literally thousands of people's accounts and none mentioned this issue. I am betting is a bug that was introduced in one off their final builds of the release OS that (now reported, possibly known) will get patched asap.

Just REALLY hope its not in any wany a bad batch of hardware

Ah, sorry to be unclear. What I meant was, it's a problem in the grip to have them close together and so narrow but not when using them on the Switch or when having one in each hand. Theoretically, if they were usable for you one in each hand, in that format you wouldn't have the same issue as you have in the grip, right?

Can I ask if you have pretty large hands?
It's not a problem on the Switch, just the grip or in each hand.

Very large.

Come on, neither of the other two consoles had anything similar to the latter two at their launches. The synchronization issues are the only legitimate point he has here.

They also had a much better launch line-up though.

Edit: On the subject of activity log it kind of sucks but isn't a big deal. I honestly think all the consoles should have them, sad to see Nintendo moving away from having it.

I said I would add quotes to the OP, but now I'm thinking of not doing it anymore because it would clutter it. There are just so many previews/unboxings. Any opinions?

Probably people playing the game in more demanding areas that uses more system power thus giving us different times.

A better test would be to load up a brand new game and let it sit until it dies on multiple units.

"Here buy all of the same AAA games again already released on our last console with better performance."

To be fair, PS4's launch lineup / OS features aren't really relevant in 2017. Switch will be compared to what's currently available.

If the joycon problem impacts every unit and there is no software fix it will be an interesting launch.

At least I'll have my Pro controller for Zelda fun times!

Pretty much rest assured Nintendo would fix the problem.

In this thread someone has already said they have not had the issue, and only 4 reports so far of it happening, at least going off this and the other thread.

Maybe some played with a brighter screen

Hot damn! One of the guys from NWR (Nintendo World Report) has some fantastic news about the battery dying! Apparently if you let it go all the way down, the system kicks itself into sleep mode and saves your progress.

His accidental test allowed him to resume playing after 30 minutes between the battery dying and docking the console. That's fucking ace.

Agreed.

My favorite launch flub ever? The iPhone 4 touch-the-bezel-and-lose-service issue,

The bending iPhone is second to that.

Can't read for the next 30 minutes...so just one question:
Did you have fun with the switch?

Yes. Still am. Zelda previews tomorrow!

did the L joycon desync issue happened to your review unit? also, default adapter is 100-240V right?
edit: oh you already answered 1st question

Nope and Yes.

How long is the USB-C cable that is included with the Pro Controller? Thanks!
The Charging Grip and Pro Controller both come with USB-C cables. I don't have my tape measure right now, so I'll say at least 5 feet, possibly 6?

That's pretty awesome actually. That'll be a lifesaver.

The unit auto-adjusts brightness based on the light level in the room, which probably has a very huge effect on battery life.

Then why didn't he say "bad launch lineup" if that's the actual indicator of a rushed launch?

Character limit? Though he should have said that in the Tweet maybe.

I don't think the assertion he makes is unfair based on everything we've seen, it feels like Nintendo just aren't ready yet.

Why do people care about the activity log?

Same two reasons I keep a game journal... I won't remember what I played and when otherwise, and secondly it helps me controls the amount of gaming I do per week. "Oh shit I played 20 hours of Wii U this week, better tone it down some." etc etc.

The activity log on the 3ds was my favourite OS feature there. The one on the Wii U was less good but still used weekly by me, anyway.

I like the activity log, but I feel that including it as an example of how the console is "undercooked" right now is kind of a stretch. It's not that big of a deal and I wouldn't care that much if the system never even got it.

This is TREMENDOUS stretch.

That Schrier tweet is a fuckin joke. The controller synching will be fixed with a patch and VC missing launch being anything other than mildly disappointing is manufactured outrage.

That's a really great feature! Should give the guy who became paranoid when the battery reached its last half hour some peace of mind.

True. I never read it anywhere up to now.

So if you're on your bed and it dies and you wanna continue playing, you have to wait 30 minutes after you dock/plug it?
