I don't think it's niche in Japan. It's niche worldwide and the west.Ones a niche game, the others a system seller - I don't see why one can't be impressed with its debut.

It will. I think it might go below 100k depending on the stock.
The last one didn't sell notably well on PS3 and 360.I don't think it's niche in Japan. It's niche worldwide and the west.
So much for HZD being #1 lol.
It's totally a niche game.I don't think it's niche in Japan. It's niche worldwide and the west.
Disgaea 5 was waayyy too expensive
The audience also disappeared on the PS4.
So either the audience is still on the PS3 or people moved away from the IP somewhen between the move from PS3/VITA over to PS4/Switch.
Be kind of embarrassing if a new IP outsold a legacy IP.
Watch the next Disgaea bring back the original cast again since they are actually popular with the fans rather than try to fix the series.
Uh yes? Look at those software numbers.
Disgaea badly needs a reboot, but I also meant that a niche game wouldn't sell gangbusters at the launch of a console not appealing yet for niche audiences.
It'll be more interesting when the Vita audience starts transitioning, I doubt it won't sell more over time when it's cheap.
As someone pointed out for Setsuna, it also won't have the same appeal in the west since it came out way earlier before, and in some cases, on other similar platforms.
Nintendo needs big RPGs for Japan, I don't know how much DQ XI is going to help tho when that game is on 3DS and PS4.
Yeah, I'm expecting D3 or a crossover between the different leads.Like they already did with the Disgaea game prior to this one?

What big RPGs are left beside DQXI ?
The next Tales Of is likely to come on Switch too, since they listed the IP to be a Switch-partner in January.

Nah, we've overdue a new version of Phantasia and the Joycons are perfect for multiplayer.
You keep saying that about Disgaea, but I don't see it.Will that happen though?
To do that the Switch would have to be receiving the software support Vita got and there's no sign that's the case. The failure of Disgaea will discourage other Vita developers from trying to make the Switch(tm).
Good job Nintendo has the biggest RPG franchise as an exclusive.

Any news on a Switch restock?
Pokémon.
VII Remake and KH III.
Will that happen though?

I mean the software numbers exceeded the number of system sold with physical copies alone. Things seem fine in that regard.
Any comparisons to other Zelda game sales in Japan?
So like Splatoon outselling every other home console game that's a sequel this gen?
Awesome to see Bomberman's best opening since 1998 .
This is Japan. Digital % is very low.

How does that make sense? Wouldn't living space being a premium encourage a higher digital percentage?
Switch launch thread in GAF: almost 8 pages in 8 hours.
The number one game is teetering on half consoles sold and clearly buyers brought more than one game. That gap is concerning along with the software numbers and general. This is supposed to make it to the holidays remember.
Never got any of their games and I have a good amount of Vita titles.Vita ain't transitioning till they get compile heart games.

Best opening week in nearly 20 years, and one of the best of the series on record.
Never got any of their games and I have a good amount of Vita titles.
Where do Disgaea 1 & 2 PSP sit in this ranking?
You keep saying that about Disgaea, but I don't see it.
I'm sure it will happen.
As soon as part of the audience transfers (aka not the hardcore "I'll die with my vita" fans), more support will come. The issue is more that some of the devs/pubs that'll attract this audience haven't released much (Disgaea for example), if at all yet, but from what has been teased or announced (continued support from NIS, Marvelous with Takaki making a game, KT, indies, etc), the support for this kind of stuff is already more promising than what was tested on DS/3DS/WiiU for example.
But obviously, with the current release/announcement rhythm, nothing will really happen this year to start the transition.
I don't think anyone is thinking Disgaea's failure on the launch week means really anything for now...
d1 ps2 > d2 ps2> d4 ps3 = d3 ps3 > d1 psp > d5 > d1 ds > dd2 > d3 ps vita > d4 ps vita
i think d5c should do around what dd2 did, or at least better than d3 ps vita.
