Persona 5 |OT2| Someone must have been helping you go to bed early. Talk!

Morgana is solid. He has the earliest access to Mediarama which is great, Lucky/Miracle Punch for semi reliable knock downs and competent stats all around. His HP is on the low side, but good armor mitigates that. Also Ann doesn't learn Mediarama so her healing can't match his, and Makoto doesn't learn Mediarama until the 40s (and she still doesn't outclass him).

And finally...

"Even Teddy was more useful?" Teddy was a top 3 character in P4...

I actually thought Teddie was one of the weaker party members in 4 and the weakest in Golden. Felt like a worse version of Yukiko while the others all had their uses (at least in Golden).

The party members feel really diverse in this game though. I thought for sure I'd NEED Morgana based off of his skillset, but Makoto is a very good substitute and Nuke is always nice to have. I like that Yusuke and Ryuji both kind of fill different roles despite being phys oriented too. Ryuji wins more in brute force thanks to Charge while Yusuke is a bit of a tank with Sukukaja and his counter passives. Everyone seems really good.

99 hours and still in
7th
dungeon. I blame 5th dungeons stupid
airlock
puzzles. Which took me like 6 hours to sorta brutrforce my way through.

Anyway,I assume now it will take me 150hrs to beat. Though, to add to that when I can walk somewhere I choose to do that, instead of using the quick travel. Really adds up the hours. #noregrets

Game needs a walk button, no joke.
I love traversing the towns on foot, but I always end up accidentally running which looks kind of goofy if you're trying to just have a nice walk.

Also, Team RyuGana. They're both great.

Is that why people hate that section so much?

Maybe I just got lucky, but it took me maybe 15 minutes my first time thru so I was never sure where the complaints came from.

Same. Yeah, it was a little annoying, but I didn't find it too difficult to figure out what to do. I only had to backtrack once or twice in that area.

Yup. It does need a walk button. I also accidentally run when trying to walk.

Btw, to help with immersion you can press the up or down buttons on the d-pad when in towns and stuff to raise and to lower the camera. One view shows all of MC's leg while the other shows from about half up his leg.

I dunno.im very bad at puzzles, and directions so I get lost a lot and have to backtraxk which usually causes me to take a long time. But I only got stuck on that one. The previous dungeons puzzles were all pretty easy.

6 hours on the
airlocks
what?

I suck at directions. Also im not sure it was really actually 6 hours. There may be a bit of hyperbole but then again I might have actually taken that long. Lol.

It's certainly not just you, a ton of people hated that bit.

Just curious... What's the max level in this game? And about what level are people generally when they finish the game?

99, but you're overleveled for the end game at around 75.

So yeah, that's awesome, 11-19 through 11-21 spoilers

Akechi struck me as sketchy (hur hur) from the beginning so him being the bad guy didn't surprise me in the slightest. I did see those weird fade outs after Akechi talks and discussions, but the major slip-up about Pancakes I totally missed, haha. The elaborate plan of the Phantom Thieves to lure Akechi in the metaverse killing the fake Joker was amazing. Kudos fo the plan. Can't wait for the next fight.

Akechi done fucked up now

Teddie was stupid good in P4. He had Matarukaja/Marakkuja, strong dependable offensive magic and healing (Yukiko didn't outclass them and using them together was generally a good idea). The character who was mediocre in P4 was Chie, who had a wonky skillset, a long period of time where her strong physical skill was Black Spot, and she was basically outclassed by Kanji. Until she got Power Charge that is (and then Golden gave Kanji Power Charge...)

The party members feel really diverse in this game though. I thought for sure I'd NEED Morgana based off of his skillset, but Makoto is a very good substitute and Nuke is always nice to have. Yeah. Pretty much everyone is viable and crazy useful. The best part is how you can carry pretty much everyone with you / don't have to worry leveling everyone evenly.

Man palace 5
what a slog, the whole story leading up to it was a poorly developed mess and this palace isn't fun to explore despite the cool aesthetics

If they ever remade any of the Persona games with the Persona 5 graphics engine.

Would be so great. But it'd probably take too much time.

How soon are people expecting Persona 6? 10 years?
Atlus would probably rely on heavy asset reuse so I don't think it'd take as long as P5. Then again I wonder if they're going to heavily rework the structure after having three similar Persona games in a row. Personally I hope they make this kind of structure a permanent fixture of the Persona series since there's really not much like it.

After about 140 hours, I just saw the credits and now Persona 5 is in the past. Crazy. What a ride. You know a game was special when after finishing it a feeling of emptiness starts to creep up within you. Game is certainly leaving a void right now haha
I'll say that I thought (very endgame spoilers, like Final Boss and shit)
the whole Holy Grail thing and everything felt a little...I dunno, tacked on? Seems like that was a fight vs. a god and a world ending scenario for the sake of it. Didn't care too much for that final encounter. I liked all the confidants chiming in though, I'm a sucker for that stuff. Summoning Satanael was also dope. Best Ultimate Persona.
I also didn't see Igor being fake coming. So that's why his voice was different. Got so used to hearing deep voiced Igor that hearing old Igor took me a while to get used to again but it felt somewhat like coming home after a long journey.
Final dungeon could have been straight out of SMT with that aesthetic. Still didn't think it was all that interesting. The puzzles were fun though.
Gotta admit I got a little sad when Morgana "left" (only to come back again that fucker), definitely my favorite Mascot char.
Overall I would have probably preferred had the whole thing ended with Shido, had similar thoughts about P4's finale as well. But I guess they had to explain the supernatural stuff still. Still enjoyed the finale though overall, didn't hate it or anything.

Overall I really really enjoyed my time with the game and for me it was definitely worth the (long) wait. I still remember the P5 announcement for Winter 2014 during that one crazy Atlus November stream. Good times.

Now bring on the spinoffs. My body is ready.

This is not really correct. Makoto does indeed completely outclasses Morgana. Yes her heal takes longer to unlock but she has a lot more utility than Morgana because she gets full party heals + full party defense (superb skill) + Severe skill. One main healer and one backup healer (Joker) is more than enough to plow through the game. While it's true that Makoto doesn't have revive but that's why you have Joker as the backup healer. In short, later in the game Morgana doesn't bring anything to the table other than wind attacks. As for Ann, she is the biggest magic dealer in the game so she gets an automatic spot anyways.

Morgana to me is like Yusuke, very useful early on but later in the game gets outclassed by others because their special abilities are highly situation and their non special abilities are weaker than others.

Just finished at nearly 103 hours. Rarely are people being sincere when they say a game is 100h+ but god damn, Persona 5 is a beast. Maybe a little too long for its own good really. Still really enjoyed it overall.

I feel like in P5 more than any other game in the series you can focus almost entirely on physical attackers. Ryuji Yusuke Makoto MC will just about never come up against something they can't sweep with purely physical attacks, and for the very, very, very few enemies that resist/null/reflect physical you can just use MC to hit their elemental weakness. To be honest Ann left my party as soon as I got a 5th member and she never came back.

Makoto does however completely outclass Morgana by the end of the game, you're right. Outside of Garu there's zero reason to take him.

Did 3 memento requests earlier to advance some confidants and noticed I could go deeper now so I gueas I might aswell get to the end of that new zone to unlock fast travel and not waste the half day of going there. Hopefully there will be some new persona to get. Surely I must be nearing the end of Mementos.

Also on the P4G front (this juggle), all the hub hub years ago about Chie's new voice and... I think its much better lol :(

If I down a shot everytime Chie says "sheesh", will...will I die?

I've rolled Joker/Ann/Ryuji/Makoto almost the whole game and the only time I ever swap anyone is Ryuji for Yusuke when Ryuji is low on HP (Futaba's (ability spoiler)
HP recovery will top off Ryuji again after a few fights without blowing items or SP
) or Haru if I really need Psi skills, because I have no Personas on Joker with Mapsi* skills. Morgana mostly just gets used as a Media/rama/rahan slave since I can pop in the Skills menu and burn his SP to heal out-of-battle rather than Joker's or Makoto's.

Someone was asking for these yesterday, I think. Thread moves too fast to look it up but I don't think they got a response.

The problem is that the game isn't played in a vacuum. Morgana having Mediarama before her is a legitimate point in his favor when it comes to healing support since it means his healing is way more useful for a while. Her having Marakkuja is definitely good, but i'm literally 70 hours into the game and I just unlocked it. That's [spoiled]5-6[/spoiler] palaces worth of content where it isn't relevant. Then there's Lucky/Miracle Punch which is a niche Makoto absolutely can't copy and something that he definitely brings to the table. Don't get me wrong, she's a great character with an amazing statline and solid skills, but I don't think she hard outclasses Morgana. Also her not having a Samerecarm isn't a concern because it's a garbage skill and revive items are way more useful.

And Yusuke doesn't get outclassed by anyone, haha. Ryuji is arguably better, but Yusuke is still an amazing physical attacker.

Makoto? You mean Haru, right? Her physical skills are a lot better.

Also Miracle Punch has a lot of merit especially since Baton Pass is that good, but Makoto definitely outclasses him against bosses by the time she gets Mediarahan.

Ryuji gets Charge, Yusuke doesn't, therefore rip Yusuke

He only gets that around endgame though. Plus, Ryuji being the absolute best physical attacker doesn't invalidate Yusuke's performance throughout the game, and his base kit is very solid. Hell, using them together works too.

Are you confusing it with Recarmdra?

Definitely not. Samerecarm is terrible in Persona. It's expensive and outclassed by Revive items. Why bother relying on a Revive user when you can have anyone use a healing item immediately?

One major thing Yusuke has over Ryuji is his agility, so he's far less likely to miss. Ryuji honestly misses a lot more often than I'd like, though he's still like the best party member lol.

EDIT: can also confirm Ryuji and Yusuke work incredibly well together.

I wanted to use Haru more, as (ability spoiler)
One-Shot Kill
is Very Good, but not maxing proficiency = never getting her Confidant past rank 1 = no Baton Pass, Harisen Recovery, mortal blow survival, etc. = too much utility loss.

Morgana is a great healer but you don't need his healing in battle. He is far better in reserve so you can use his healing skills after battle. I'd much rather have a character with okay healing and better attacks (Makoto) over Morgana in a fight.

You need max proficiency to get her past rank 1? Yikes. I guess I won't be using her on my team until NG+.

Persona skill question:

Odin, Satan and Chi You have the severe version of their single/multi elemental attacks (elec, ice, psy) so all I need is to find a way to stick Spellmaster and charge in there.

But for the others its split between two persons, Surt has Inferno while a bunch of others like Mada and Lucifer have Incineration. Baal has Panta Rhei while Vishnu have vacuum wave. Azura has Atomic flare while Michael have cosmic flare. My question is- are those moves transferable?

Yup, giant stat wall right at the start for baton pass.

It's stylised animation that's why it's exaggerated and it's completely fine

I'd be really annoyed if I had to hold to run in real world as well, it's one of the reasons I barely do it in palaces in the first place. if you wanna walk then just title the analogue a bit and he will walk.

"Your opinion is wrong because I feel differently."

I mean, thanks, I guess?

Kohryu gets Psycho Force AND Spellmaster. It's better than Chi You there.

I think it gets Concentrate too but I don't remember if I had it inherit that lol. Also yeah they're transferable.

Yeah. I couldn't hit rank 5 proficiency in time so
Haru
was stuck at rank one. I'll be sure to fix this in NG+

Finally beat it after about 91 hours of play time. Easily one of my favorite rpgs and probably a top 10 game for me. Already loved Persona 4 but this game beat it in pretty much every way. Really enjoyed the story and characters and loved the themes the game focused on, really hit a lot of the right notes for me. Probably do a new game plus run later this year and max all the confidants.

I actually have Kohryu first thinking that I have my 'strongest' psychic persona, but now I'm tempted by Chi You who has both severe versions but unfortunately without the spellmaster of Kohryu.

how much more powerful are the Severe spells compared to the Heavy spells? They have to be pretty nuts to cost 4 times as much SP right?

? Fuuuuuuck. Well im rank 4 so I guess I need to work on it, does anyone need max kindness? Thats my other 4.

fuck.

There is but I don't remember if it's Futuba or Sojiro.

There's a top stat check for all of them somewhere.
