That feeling when Batista is more over than your favorite indy vanilla midget. I'm still amazed Batista, out of all people, ended up being one of my favorite things of the movie. He was also good in Spectre.

I haven't been to an Imax theater in over 15 years, and fortunately we're going out of town in which they have 3 imax theaters. My gf wants to see it again, so hopefully I can convince her to catch a showing there. It's kind of lame watching a movie while you're vacationing but w/e.

Edit: Also my theater didn't give us a Thor trailer which was surprising, but they did show a Wonder Woman trailer.

That's what I was thinking. Batista is absolutely perfect in the role and stole the show for most of the movie. I never would have thought he'd be so funny when I watched him wrestle as a kid lol.

There are PG-13 movies that have gotten away with F Bombs. Having to explain that he didn't say friggin just seems less funny than actually saying the word to me.

I believe you can get away with one "fuck" and still get a PG-13 rating BUT when you combine it with all the on-screen deaths, it may have been a bridge too far.

I wonder if the line at the end was supposed to be "welcome to the fuckin guardians of the galaxy" but they had to change it because it would have made it R because the whole joke would have been a lot funnier if they had actually used the word
You're allowed 2 fucks in a PG-13 movie

But the violence may have pushed it a bit.

i NEED Nebula to get love in IW

Just a few minutes is all she needs. Give a sister bond time of both of them tag teaming his ass. But her character was torn apart by Thanos, she needs some love and specifically that ethos moment.... of showing her foot up his ass and knocking his face in. No other character is more attached than she is. And Gillian, definitely has made her likable with what little time she's got.

I also want to see some Rocket and Tony Interaction.

Capt and Peter both bonding over outdated technology.

I feel like the Guardians cast can have the most fun interacting with the normal Avengers.

Well I guess you'll have to chalk it up to "Disney" with their no sex/violence/death/profanity stuff..or that's the way Gunn wanted it. Your guess is as good as mine..

It's funnier that Rocket takes it on himself to censor what Groot is actually saying. It's the running gag that Baby Groot isn't that childlike except for his cuteness. He's a dumb crude asshole.

Really enjoyed the shit out of this movie.
There wasn't a single character that wasn't enjoyable in this one.

The Marry Poppins reference fucking killed in the theater.

People here love Civil War (the movie, not the comic), so I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion but... Coming off my GotG sugar high I rewatched Civil War on Netflix, and it just doesn't compare. Ok, they're pretty different in tone, but the cosmic side of the MCU is just much more exciting. I also think Civil War doesn't really succeed in juggling all of its characters. I didn't enjoy it on my first watch and it's not growing on me now that I have revisited it. I'd put it just above the Thors. I always like the character-focused movies better. Both Ant-man and Dr. Strange were great, looking forward to Black Panther and Spidey.

I'm just glad the next huge ensemble film will at least have a big cosmic element.

Great movie. I fucking cried over the Yondu storyline as I had a step dad who raised me and passed recently, didn't expect that. Many laughs and tears!

Saw it on Sunday, I think I actually enjoyed it more than the first overall. Better, and more well developed, villain than most Marvel movies. Yondu and Rocket wrecking shit to Come A Little Bit Closer was probably my favorite bit of the movie.

For me the cosmic heroes are just more likeable. I don't know why it is, but I just adore the GOTG. I like the Avengers, I look forward to seeing them again, but I love each Guardian individually...

For Howard Stern fans-James Gunn put Richard Christy in the film as a Ravager:

Director James Gunn tweeted on Friday, explaining his decision to put Richard in the film: "10 years ago I heard @cwotd get his privates waxed on @sternshow & had to pull over from laughing. I knew then I needed to put him in a film."

I would love to have seen the negotiations to get them in this.

I was so excited when I found out about this-but now that I think about it I bet it's similar to the deal with the Skrulls.

Marvel and Fox have the rights to the alien races-Skrulls for example-but for a specific character like Super Skrull only Fox can use him. So maybe Marvel can show The Watchers but not Uatu.

Yondu was uniquely skilled with it, but it was still just a general use weapon. They could've destroyed all their guns to prevent Yondu getting his hands on one of those, too.

Yondu with a gun is nowhere near the threat level of Yondu with the fin. I don't know why you would even equate the two.

I think it's because other people can use the fin and considering how OP the whole arrow thing was, I don't think they'd be so quick to get rid of it. The only really dumb thing they did was letting Baby Groot run free but I assume they just underestimated him.

Leaving it intact only makes sense if there is actually anyone else other than Yondu that had similar or even passable skill with it. Failing that, keeping it in one piece in an unlocked drawer was nothing but a liability, as the events played out proved.

Well Gunn said that both Marvel and Fox co-own the Watchers, so yeah it is similar to the Skrulls.

Also
We've confirmed with Feige that the rights to Uatu himself remain with 20th Century Fox, both studios can use the Watchers as a more general alien species.

You know I really really enjoyed this movie except for one thing.

The soundtrack outside of 2 songs was TERRIBLE in comparison to the first movie's music.

As an old/lapsed Mindless Self Indulgence fan, I was totally surprised to realize one of the more prominent Ravagers was Jimmy Urine. I wouldn't have even known had I not seen his name in the music credits (he apparently did the song that's playing during the Contraxia scene) and stumbled on the cameo info.

Yes, it was amazing! Vibrant neon colors from the tentacle monster's breathe to the cremating flames. It was incredible and fit very well with the music and vibe.

It's fricken because the movie is PG-13, and they're gonna dance on that line. Also, the word fuck doesn't make jokes funnier lol..
But the word penis does?

The word fucking carries more weight but as you said they didn't use it because the rating had to stay that way.

American Age ratings are silly as fuck anyway.
Violence without end is allowed, but when someone says fuck its forbidden... And if someone flashes a nipple its going to be a sacrilege...

There are times when it can be funnier, but playing that line back through my head it wouldn't have added anything to that scene. If anything it would have been a little distracting. Plus this way we get the line after about needing to talk about Groot's language.

I didnt like the first Guardians. Thought it was just thoroughly medicore, definitely in the lower tier of MCU movies for me. The humor never landed, the characters never really felt like a real unit, the plot and especially the final act wasn't satisfying at all

This was a massive improvement in every way

I think Guardians 2 might be in my top five MCU movies. The pacing was excellent. The characters and their relationships were well-done. The emotional moments, the humor, and action all hit the mark. The stakes were more personal and the movie never felt disjointed like the first one. The cinematography and sci-fi visuals were all wonderful and imaginative, and the finale brought all the movie's thread together in satisfying form

That final fight makes me excited for Captain Marvel; I wonder if Gunn will have any input with that movie. It was very Man of Steel/Superman-ish

Even if it would have, I think both jokes were better off with the words they used (penis and frick'en).

We're talking about dumbass space pirates who pass out drunk in a pile. If Taserface had a last name, Liability could be his middle one.

i think people are getting a little too worked up over Eternity, when it was most likely the general concept of eternity, and not the specific character.

I don't know. The starry look in his eyes was totally classic Eternity. Plus the first movie also had a reference to Eternity (and the other cosmic entities). Like, I don't think he literally saw the actual being in humanoid form and knew his name, but I think what he saw was totally in reference to him.

Do we have gifs of the 360 team shot at the beginning of the EGO battle?

Or when Yondu and Rocket are jumping through those portals and their faces get all distorted and blown up.

Rocket looked like Scrat from the Ice Age films lol.

Don't think any of that has been in any TV spots yet. I'd give it a couple of days..

So, I'm guessing that Mantis is supposed to be gay, considering how pretty much the first thing that happens in Avengers Academy is she suggests Pepper Potts kiss her.

I kind of picked up on that when she said something to the effect that Drax wasn't even the "type" of thing she liked.
