The most interesting feature for me is targeting different body parts. So it can theoretically become an interesting game of risk vs reward wherein you can either choose to target the weak spot for a quick kill or risk it for a better piece of armour/weaponry. Well, atleast that's how I hope it plays out.

And? A member of the dev team who says "yo tell us if it's good" does not have the authority to supersede an NDA/embargo. If the reviewer actually used that defense, the shit would get laughed out of court immediately after everyone stopped blinking in disbelief.

Waiting on reviews but interested. I liked Lords of the Fallen even if it was a little rough around the edges and this looks more polished so far.
So he probably knows what its in the NDA.

I deal with NDA's in my day-to-day. I'll break it down.
Non. Disclosure. Agreement.
Means.
No. Disclosure.
A review embargo means exactly that. Saying if the game is good or not breaks embargo and violates the NDA. The devs don't draw these up, and they have no authority to tell people to break them. There are potentially huge legal ramifications if you do.

Devs don't draft the NDAs. Also, given that this isn't self-published, it's likely that Focus Home provide the NDA/embargo w/the review copy of the game. I'm sure the devs would love to hear impressions, but sharing them publically would almost certainly be a breach. Some NDAs are tight enough that even saying you have the game is considered a breach.

Well to be honest I immediately thought of LoTF when I saw the combat even before I realized it was the same dev. The video explains some of the changes and improvements, but the base combat module is the same and it certainly looks like it plays very similarly.
I'm one of the guys who liked LoTF, with all its shortcomings. Now in the past few years people, including myself, were clamoring for a sci-fi Souls. This seems like it could scratch that particular itch
AFAIK, Reviewers rarely actually sign an NDA. And a review embargo is not a formal NDA, it's a shared agreement whose violation is typically punished by lost access in the future.

Just shows how hard is to get it right, which makes From efforts more noteworthy.
That said the surge looks much better that Lords of the Fallen.

as one of the only (well at least vocally) fans of Lords of the Fallen on
Gaf I'm actually excited about this. Do we have any word on lenght? IIRC Lords was like 20.25 hours, much shorter than your average Souls game, which isnt necessarely a bad thing, except when it comes with me buying games these days, as lenght plays a big part in my decisions.
