I'll ask again: what about some crazy and great secret characters. Is there any in this game? that for me its a big plus
I would love for them to add a special team of guest characters, include some available across all consoles, but some that are specific to each platform too...

Xbox One
Master Chief, Cortana, Marcus Fenix, Dominic Santiago, Conker, Joanna Dark

PlayStation 4
Ratchet, Crash Bandicoot, Nathan Drake, Elena, Joel, Ellie

Nintendo Switch
Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Link, Princess Zelda, Zero Suit Samus

It's not like the art style is completely realistic anyways.

I've been running Curry and David Robinson. Curry for 3's, obviously, and I use Robinson on defense to camp under the basket for blocks and for pushing people over..... :). Beat the final duo pretty easily with this strategy. The little guy lays on the ground for like 3 seconds after getting pushed over by Robinson. Poor guy.

Curry and The Admiral is such a fun combo. Half court threes and insane blocks.

I'm not having the problem of getting stolen from constantly that you guys are mentioning. How are you guys inbounding the ball? I have my controlled player run up to around half court before the inbounding player passes it in. Don't go too far or it will result in a turnover, but around half court is safe. From there it's just a crossover move to get passed the opponent and then basically a free shot. Just did the consecutive 2 pointer challenge with ease using this method.

Play against a human opponent. Even with minor lag it's really difficult to time a crossover right when you catch the ball. Meanwhile the opposing player is just spamming steal with a 9 or 10 rated player.

That's basically all competitive play is. You steal as much as you can and convert with a 3 on the other end. The team that gets the best Lottery Pick wins at that point, unless lag causes someone to miss a shot or get an easy steal.

I'm noticing though, is the load times like really long for you guys?

Yeah load times are bad.

I kind of like the carrot on a stick unlocking players (due to multiple repeats). For me it is just another reason to keep playing and enjoying the game.

As for potential micro-transactions, I am not too worried as I never buy these things.

Was referring to the tourneys. People were saying on the previous page that the AI kept stealing from them.

The NBA Playgrounds May 12 update has changed how stealing works in the game. Before this patch stealing was a huge strategy for players. You would almost be forced to have a player with a high steal stat on your team if you wanted a chance at winning, because most people would just spam the steal button until they finally got a pick. Following the new NBA Playgrounds update, a steal attempt now consumes a significant amount of stamina.

That's a HUGE change. Glad to see the devs are paying attention though.

The first big update needs to add more players the big missing ones like Klay, IT, T-Mac and Yao and many others, Switch online, optimization on all versions, also new tournaments for Venice Beach and Seattle and co-op online with friends

There was a 3gb update on steam. I don't feel like steals take any more stamina than they did before, but it does feel like the stamina refresh might be slightly slower.

Having a lot of trouble on my Switch copy, with the menus. The controller buttons are either not pressing or are double pressing, a LOT. Anyone else on Switch having this problem with NBAP?

For me, I've just noticed that after pressing a button to access a menu there's a pretty noticeable lag time before you actually enter the menu. Maybe you're double pressing since you don't think the first press is registering?

Got a reply...

that's promising for sure.[/QUOTE]

Awesome if they upgrade handheld-mode visuals. I would legit get a Switch just for this. Seems like the perfect platform for it.

Do we have an official tech analysis of ps4 vs xbone vs switch yet?

From what I've heard and seen, ps4 is 1080p, and switch is 720p docked and 540p undocked. I've also seen that switch has lower quality lighting and shadows and longer loading times.

Are ps4 and xbone both identical in resolution, performance(frameate), and graphical fidelity?

Just got past the first tourney. Something feels...off. I don't particularly feel like I'm good at the game and more so that I'm cheesing it and being cheesed in return.

Rebounds seem like they're not even worth jumping for. I often feel the same way about blocking.

The timing on shots is weird. It adds an element of skill for sure but it feels random given that there's no kind of shot indicator

I think I need some tips because I'm just wondering what high level play looks like because on defense I'm just trying to steal as much as possible and if they get a shot/dunk off, hope that they miss and that I can scramble to get the ball and head back down court.

Yup I'm done with this game till they update. Playing against dirk and magic and can't crossover and get a shot without getting stripped. Try going for dunks to build meter and get shoved out all the time. Got Kawhi and can't steal but dirk strips me every time.

Worth a buy on the Switch?

Coming from someone that adores NBA Jam, the new one as well (probably more than the old one), and NBA Street.

Oh wow

RIP steal spam I hardly knew thee
Was this game good?
I've been consistently playing the iOS version for about six years
This game is still #2 on the eShop and Minecraft can't pass it yet.
I thought it was a bad game after I heard Giantbomb talk about it.
It's good! There's just a learning curve. Jeff can be very hyperbolic about things that he doesn't click with. His whole argument about the game not having soul in its mechanics was weird

Keep passing and don't forget to throw dem bows!

I haven't played an NBA Jam title since I was a kid and boy do I suck at this game. It's pretty fun but I don't understand how stealing works at all, and I certainly can't take the ball consistently from AI opponents. I'm on the first tourney and trying to get 2 steals in the Semis for practice-- but no dice.

When do I press the square/shot button? After I knock it out of their hands with circle/elbows? Just pressing it when they have the ball doesn't seem effective.

oh shit it's on android! Does it have all the silly characters too or were those console exclusive? About to use some Google Survey dollars.
