Gotta admit, I think the Sega Activator is somewhere up there in terms of the most ill concieved console accessories. I've actually tied it out before, and it just feels both awkward and unecessary at the same time.
Is this an offical product? It looks so wildAlways thought this was weird bcs...what was the use case for that circle pad?
Obligatory Mega Evolution Gameboy
Obligatory
I always thought the plastic Nerf series on the Wii were pushing it. For the sports games.

That's literally every nes accessory. They all tried to pretend they added functionality more than just a and b and directional inputs.Always thought this was weird bcs...what was the use case for that circle pad?

Amazingly I can't find a video review for this, only a Kotaku review with a dead video link
Guessing it had no other purpose than to exist in the Kinect hype era and try to cash in on the craze.I'm confused. What is the purpose of the boat? Is it basically like a "safety mat?"

"Enjoy the emotions of the best games in the reality of your home."
That tag line is something else.
Sega Retro said:The Sega Mega Anser (メガアンサー was an accessory for the Sega Mega Drive which gave access to various online services in Japan. It came with the Ten Key Pad and required the Sega Mega Modem. With an optional printer it could print receipts, statements, among other banking info.
Though it came with its own software, specialized software was also built for it:
- Naisu-kun Mini (often incorrectly called Nagoya Home Banking by English speakers), for the Bank of Nagoya
- Osaka Bank My Line, for some bank "Osaka Bank"
- Sumisei Home Tanmatsu, for Sumitomo Life life insurance
"With a home phone line this unit can check balances, make transfers, get loan information and other bank financial functions. You can print out financial data on the printer."
While I understand there's definitely people who could have made use of it, this always struck me as odd.
I own this.REZ Trance Vibrator

lol
never seen this before. ridiculous
there's no way the up-down-left-right on that thing wasn't god awful
Noitom makes a Perception Neuron Lite that's a VR glove. I have the 32-neuron suit and it's scary accurate. The glove on the full version comes with something like 8 trackers while the VR glove has 3.It's funny how technology is now just actually catching up to the promises of some of this crazier shitty tech. I'm surprised there hasn't been a ',power glove' for VR yet.
I still pay my bills with this.Sega is the undisputed king of this field.
I submit the Mega Anser, which is apparently some kind of banking hardware/software suite for the Mega Drive.
Sega Retro provides the following insight:
Essentially 'Have no imagination? Use these pointless plastic things to fill in the gaps between the virtual sport and reality... or something"If you count electronicless ones Wii Remote controller shells are insane. Special note of Pom Pom and Frisbee ones.
I think most of these were more 'can we make a quick buck from idiots who think it will help?"The insanity that surrounded the Kinect led to A freaking inflatable boat as a gaming accessory. Someone thought this was a good idea
The Sega Activator just seems like the Kinect concept limited by technology. I don't think it's weird at all... just totally limited in how it could track your body.
