Where would they go if the majority of their sales were from portable?

Yeah, Pokémon (mainline) isn't quite an annual franchise. There's always a year without a game, and that's including the remakes/third versions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pokémon_(video_game_series)

This gen, we had Pokémon X and Y in 2013, Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire in 2014, nothing in 2015, and Sun and Moon in 2016. If rumours are true, we could have the infamous Stars version in 2017, but if not, 2017 will be another year without a Pokémon game.

God Eater should probably move over it has a well enough of a well known brand and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it's player base ends up buying a switch being the only new portable.

If they refuse to move over they deserve what's coming to that series.

They're happy with the performance of Star Ocean, Dissidia, and Bravely Default, so things have been looking up for them even if none of them are home runs.

Mind, Explorers mobile looked... less appealing.

I remember their recent valkyria anatomia did quite badly as even the collab event does not really bring any huge money and their recent samurai rising is also just close down.

Flame x Blaze also just doing so so. So thats what make me thought they are not doing really well right now in mobile on newer release.

West will save them for sure bro.^^

This would actually be pretty cool on a Switch level hardware....just couldnt get too interested on the 3DS with the chibi characters and the graphics.

If they wanna go for that PSO/MH FF experience again and are willing to spend more on a console release i would hope its on Switch as well.

A new explorers with FF XI art style/no chibi on Switch i can see do quite well actually lol.

They generally considered the first half of last fiscal year to be a total failure in terms of new mobile games, but had a recovery in the second half.

Is it really good? Nier Automata has more than that and God Eater is a much bigger brand than Nier.
God Eater is only bigger than Nier in Japan. GE on the PSP in the west bombed hard iirc. Nier wasn't exactly a huge success either but I think it's safe to say that it was bigger than GE given its cult status. With the release of Automata, I can easily say that Nier's global popularity has surpassed that of GE.

To Nier's credit, it doesn't crash 50% of the time on loading when you have four players, losing the entire progress of the mission you just did.

Ahh. I see i see. Well they seems to be doing quite well then as they are able to lauch some desirable product in the second half of the year.

Unlike Sega where only a single new mobile game had staying power now.(soul reverse zero)

Or even worst Koei, Gumi, Gungho and Mixi which dont even release any new mobile game lol.

It just randomly crashed with newer AMD cards for months so that you couldn't play the game at all and Platinium did shit to fix the issue. AMD had to fix it with new driver release about week ago.

Yodobashi had Switch stock today online. Sold out in 7 minutes.

My local yodobashi announced they had 20 units in stock today. Immediately a massive line formed and it was sold old instantly.

Nah. Zero. U can't trick me anymore here. There is no such thing as Switch being sold out as we can find Switch in Amazon now and this meme should be dead asap.

First Day Sell-through {2017.05.25}

[PS4] Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (ε) _PS Store Download Version_ |DL| <RPG> (Nihon Falcom) (¥6.800) - 50%

Wonder if the Falcom audience is finally moving over to PS4 with the announcement that Sen no Kiseki III is PS4-exclusive.

08./00. [PS4] Danganronpa 1 + 2 Reload <Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc \ Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair> <ADV> (Spike Chunsoft) {2017.05.18} (¥3.800) - 3.880 / NEW

50./00. [PSV] Danganronpa 1 + 2 Reload <Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc \ Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair> [PlayStation Vita the Best] <ADV> (Spike Chunsoft) {2017.05.18} (¥2.980)

This was almost Vita-in-reverse levels of stupid, but then I realised the PS4 version is only ¥800 more. Not the most idiotic decision I suppose.

Guess we can rule out God Eater and Toukiden ever appearing on Switch, they won't want to directly compete with Monster Hunter.
Irrelevance is a better choice.

With Vita dying I see no reason they can't try on Switch, it's not like God Eater & Phantasy Star Portable didn't flourish on PSP.

Lolol. What does that even mean?0_0
People make stupid statements all the time. If you want to make fun of them then sure but jeez, some moderation would be nice. It's tiring coming into MC threads all the time and seeing parody posts. Still, you're not exactly breaking any rules so feel free to do as you like I suppose.

and beside, it will leave room for splatoon and other filler games to breathe

.....splatoon dont need any breather room lol. Hell, it is for MH sake that they choose to avoid splatooncalypse there lol.

Ohh. C'mon. Dont be so serious there. We need to brighten up this thread a bit lol rather than everyday just keep talking about MH and its exclusivity lol.

I can see God Eater probably one day will pop out on Switch but for Phantasy Star, i think it is more or less now exclusively Online series as Nova bombed so badly there. So i can't see it showing up in Switch at all.

that's not my point, having both of them being released near each other will stop both of them to reach their true potential

I didn't realize the Switch was a handheld only.

Well it certainly ain't the exceedingly popular console Capcom is referring to in order to expand overseas.

It's the cod of Japan(unless you also call Pokemon an annual series )

Ain't close to COD. It would need to have a mainline entry every year and still be the top selling title, or close to, every year.

Nothing in this industry is like COD.

Making the umpteenth joke posts about some other game being exclusive to another platform isn't exactly making things better. It just gets old and tiresome.

I...... am not talking about that right now though?*o*

Ahh i see. I thought u are saying that MH will threaten Splatoon sales there lol as i believe MH should a bit further from Splatoon as during that week, Splatoon is going to eat up many sales potential there.

Replace exclusivity with some other dumb shit people have said (Switch demand has receded, PS4 will make anything successful, etc).

Oh pliz. If u dont like seeing u can just ignore it lol. Let some people enjoy themselves.(Not going to continue this anymore as it is OoT lol.)

Magikarp Jump seems to be off with a nice start lol. Hitting number 1 on Japan, HK and Taiwan for both Android and Ios market huh. I wonder if it will had legs there lol. Not a gacha game but damn it is addicting clicker game lol.

My point with Phantasy Star was that it was a hunting series that flourished on a console that also had Monster Hunter, not that I could see it moving to Switch. Toukiden is still (just about) alive though and could make the move.

150k on Steam is good supplementary sales but not enough to continue the series if it declines domestically and fails to gain traction on PS4

It was (mostly) a joke because that's how they justified going on Vita instead of 3DS all those years ago.

Out of all of the hunting games that went to Vita, I can understand Toukiden the most. Sony Japan helped with the development a bit I believe, plus clearly helped with the advertising (remember those crappy adverts with the hunting games guy from 2013?)

And it's like, the most similar-to-Monster-Hunter clone out there. And there was a big expectation that Vita would get that genre, so I can't blame them for trying. Plus is sold pretty well, all things considered (at least Age of Demons did).

I know where u are coming about Phantasy Star but it had been quite some time since a new PS series which did well and seeing Sega nowadays, i can see Online 3 coming out on PC rather than a new series on Switch.

PC and PS4 would be great though

The real discussion is potentially that the 3DS is actually under performing strongly, the PS4 version isn't going to suddenly sell 1-2m+ first week because of some small number of people that bought a PS4 for DQB/DQH, with the latter and DQB2 requiring Vita support to maintain healthy software sales because of "previous DQ titles doing their job". (The other possibility is that COMG is leaning on pre-orders that are non-representative, or that the more casual going audience of the 3DS has no interest or need to pre-order.)
Isn't the ratio between preorders and overall sales on 3DS the most skewed toward the latter anyway? (Do we have any hard data on this? Considering shops stock games on own risk based on perceived demand and that's often based on preorder numbers such stats have quite an impact on eventual shipment/sales.) In comparison PS4 is a more dedicated audience where a lack of preorders directly reflects a lack of interest. So for DQXI PS4 preorders surpassing 3DS ones should be no surprise (unless somebody expects it to bomb on PS4) and won't hinder the 3DS version to outsell all others anyway.

They hinted that there would be a new Phantasy Star this year and the staff that moved onto 7th Dragon are free now.

Oh I get why it was PS exclusive but that specific reasoning has always been rubbish, especially when it started as a PSP game and was in development before the MH betrayalton.
