Best and Worst Evil Versions of Main Characters (Spoilers)

This is one of the worst most tired plots there is, the evil twin, evil clone, etc.

But a few of them manage to succeed and provide a memorable character while others are not only bad, they're downright insulting.

So, which are in your opinion the best and worst evil clones? Please explain your choices

For me there are several, but just to start the discussion.

Best: Goku Black (Dragon Ball Super)

This series had already failed at creating an evil version of Goku with the shittastic Turles.

Goku Black however succeeds in making you feel how in deep shit the world would be if Goku turned truly evil. He is a villain who took over Goku's body and the first thing he does with it is murder Goku's wife and son.

His personality is a creepy calm version of Goku with all his arrogance and the best part is that he never does the tired "replacing the character and then revealing himself" twist, to him Goku's body is just a tool to achieve his goals.

The character is so well done that I think its a shame he was not the final boss of the saga.

Worst: Z-ONE (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's)

Z-One comes from the far future and it's initially presentes as an old future versión of Yusei Fudo who realized his ideals were wrong.

Sounds cliché right?

Wrong, they somehow make it worse by having the character NOT be Yusei Fudo, instead he is just a scientist who was a giant Yusei Fanboy and had plastic surgery to look like him. He wanted people to come together under the symbol of Yusei Fudo, a man who died a Hero in his world's history. So he lies to the people and tell them he is Yusei.

He obviously failed, so he got sad and mad and decided to travel back in time and destroy the real Yusei for being wrong. Except the real Yusei succeeded in his life and he knew this!

Also a honorable mention to Luuke Skywalker as worst.

I kid, I kid.
Kind of.

Actually, I do think he genuinely qualifies as an evil Batman, atleast for the first 2/3's of the movie. It's just whether that's a good thing is a matter of whether you like having an evil batman or have good taste.

Evil Ash from Army Of Darkness is a pretty fun character. I especially like the freaky way he grows out of Ash's body.

While not technically clones, Sensui and Shishio are supposed opposite of their protagonist despite coming from similar background. I can't think of an actually well done evil twin aside from Cartman.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer S3
Vampire Willow is pretty great.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S4
The Doctor was also fucking fantastic. In fact, all of the Hydra World alternates were amazing, but him and Coulson in particular were dope.

Also, Supernatural S10
Demon Dean was fucking awful. Just Dean with no inhibitions. Super boring.

I wasn't too big of a fan of Once Upon a Time S4's "Heroes & Villains" world. It seemed like character swaps for the sake of it, aside from Gold. That I bought 100%.

My big thing is that, ultimately, I feel like an alternate version of the character done well is when you believe 100% that if one little thing happened, that this character would do this. But it's still that character in the end. That's what makes it horrifying when an evil version of a hero shows up.

I dunno if that really counts. He's not an alternate Wally, or even an alternate Flash. He just wears the Reverse Flash outfit, but uses Zoom as the moniker. Otherwise he's a completely different person with a completely different power set.

Right? Or am I wrong on that?

I always am confused about this because, arent there 2 villians with this same "anti-flash" gimmick?

Yes, but only on the most surface level. There are multiple rival Speedsters, specifically alternate versions of each Flash. The Rival, Reverse Flash, Professor Zoom, Inertia, etc. Ultimately it's just that they use the guise of an evil Flash, but their motives (and sometimes power sets/sources) are always different. Thawne is probably the closest to an evil Flash (although I think Inertia is a clone of Bart, so he'd actually be a legit evil Flash) because he uses the guise specifically to fuck with Barry and even created Negative Speed Force. A Speed Force designed to destroy the Speed Force.

Maybe bending things working with parts of an ensemble, but...

Best: Dark Beast. The Age of Apocalypse version of Beast who's a completely amoral genetic researcher and revels in it. I love how he's just super chill about being an evil dick a lot of the time, kind of the fun guy the regular Beast used to be, just twisted.

Woooooorst: Evil Professor Xavier
