Donald Trump has told Theresa May in a phone call he does not want to go ahead with a state visit to Britain until the British public supports him coming.

The US president said he did not want to come if there were large-scale protests and his remarks in effect put the visit on hold for some time.

The call was made in recent weeks, according to a Downing Street adviser who was in the room. The statement surprised May, according to those present.

Guess trump won't be checking in for the uk for a while then. Shame it had to come from him rather than spineless Theresa May showing some integrity.

Public support???????????????
Maybe if he visits UKIP strongholds. London doesn't want anything to do with him.

Trump to never leave the country again then. Seems like a nice excuse to avoid the embarrassment like during his first foreign trip.

A president of the United States of America cannot visit the UK, that special relationship.

Well then I guess he's never going to the UK

Maybe we could move the Establishment up to his remote golf course and count that as a state visit.

He wouldn't be welcome in London for a start, and neither anywhere else in the country for that matter.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Trump has largely limited his travel in the US to states he's won, military facilities, and Trump properties, so it is kinda working stateside.

According to Morning Joe, he's basically avoiding the larger city centers because its more difficult to flee from everyone who hates him.

Unless the public mood turns around pretty sharp it's going to be hard to fit this in before the impeachment hearings.
