Konami still thwarting Kojima and former employees (Nikkei report)

Not sure if it deserved its own thread, but I couldn't find a good one that would fit this particular bit of news.

Report: The Hideo Kojima And Konami Saga Seems Endless

I am stunned by how petty Konami has become, according to the reporting by Nikkei (through Kotaku). Actively working against Kojima Productions in securing a better healthcare deal AND telling other companies to be wary of former Konami employees?

How are the laws in Japan? Because where I am from this is close to, if not completely, illegal to pull as a company. It also seems Konami has left all sense of honour in their dealing with Hideo Kojima.

Anyone here more well-versed in how the law and everything else works in Japan?

Companies in Japan really have some pride/arrogance outside of earning money and keeping customers happy.

Pretty crazy it's still a thing with some modern Japanese companies like Konami and even Sony sometimes, Nintendo actually progressed alot in that regard.

What a fucked up thing to do bothering your ex workers.

The Nikkei article also states that Konami has told large game companies to be careful about hiring former Konami employees and Japanese TV stations to disregard them. What’s more, it’s even said that ex-employees are not supposed to refer to themselves as “Formerly of Konami” in their new work when publicly discussing their career history.

1. Wow, Konami must have ridiculously petty and thin-skinned leadership

2. Regarding the bolded, I suppose that agreement was part of severance package? Because if not I'd laugh in their face if I was formerly of Konami

Konami is the scum of the earth so it comes to no surprise that this shit stain of a company would pull stunts like these.

Pathetic Company. Fuck Konami.

Now we know why Japanese developers never switch jobs, smh.

As an aside, Kotaku needs a little bit of editing, a few glaring typos for such a short piece.

This bit, though...
According to Nikkei (via My Game News Flash), Konami allegedly sent a letter addressed to Kojima last fall. Nikkei reports it stated, “You are unfairly sullying the reputation of our company.”

Imagine receiving a letter that says just that, has no return address and ends with a "be careful from now on". I would flee.

LOL what can they actually do to a former employee who says they used to work for Konami? Especially if nothing was agreed upon before exiting? If I leave the company willingly for how they treated me, of course I'm going to talk shit. Expect that when you lock up your employees during development.

This instantly makes me think of the article Edge did on KojiPro where the employees there asked to not be photographed because they didn't want their previous employer to find out.

Make canon/mainline suikoden VI, and all is forgiven. Heck even suikoden 1-5 ps4 trophysupport, and i don't give a shit about anything they do.

..

Love suikoden

They must really be triggered lol a company going on personal harrasment lmao.

Still blows my mind that there are people here that defend Konami and their actions over the past couple years.

Seriously, Konami fucking sucks.

How I imagine things play out:

Bad guy Konami continue to sully themselves. They have no idea about honor and shame, this is not America where you can be successful by being an asshole etc

Speaking of konam and Kojima, what happened to that MGS game with wormholes and crystal dickheads?

Supposedly they are demoing it to the press at E3.

However, they won't actually be showing off any new footage to the public, which sounds really dumb.

That's right.... Maybe at Sony's E3? If not then probably cancelled or a Stealth release later lol.

Edit:

Ah yeah why not just show it to the public...

No company this year would go anywhere near MGS Survive with a 50 foot poll. The game is nothing but controversy and negativity.

It's still in the works from what I know. I expect a trailer to come out this week and if not, there's always GamesCom and/or Tokyo Game Show.

Ah, so no new footage then. I can't wait for the articles about it. :D
