Boris is happy being the jester. I don't think he's got what it takes to be PM anyway because all that 'wiffle waffle' shit doesn't fly when you're giving a serious speech about terrorist attacks or explaining why you're closing hospitals.

In some ways I think the Tory campaign was the most realistic of the two.

I'm not sure telling the electorate that we're going to negotiate terms with the EU that will retain tariff-free access to the single market, whilst slashing immigration, regaining sovereignty and stopping freedom of movement is realistic. Especially when other dumbfounded EU leaders publicly and repeatedly tell anyone who is listening that it can't happen.

Then it's wrapped up in bow of a 'prosperous new chapter for Britain'. I'd call it many things but realistic isn't one of them.

Are there any big Tory names outside the Cabinet now? Gove could have been a focus point for opposition, but he's been brought into the Cabinet. That leaves Nicky Morgan, Ken Clarke and Stephen Crabb as MPs with Cabinet experience currently outside, and I don't think Clarke's going to be doing much at his age.

Ken "The idea of Boris as Prime Minister is ridiculous" Clarke will probably have something to say about May. Nicky Morgan is Tweeting about "Tory Reform". Then Osborne with his attack on May. The Tories seems really broken up now.

He's very clever and grew up in upper class, Etonian/Bullingdon cliques, wherein these people are groomed for power. He plays the jester because it suits his political image and aspirations, but I'm not sure we should write him off as the British Trump, I think he could be very prime ministerial if elected.

Depends on what you think of as prime ministerial

Since June 23rd and running up to the first deadline on in March 2019 more than a million old people will have died. More than a million younger people will also have become eligible to vote. That 1.9m leave majority........

We are heading straight for a healthy Remain majority on death rate alone and that's ignoring the guaranteed shitshow as the fantasy of negotiations is eviscerated by the EU.

Who is going to have the balls to call for another ref?

Some rumours going around that someone is trying to sound out a tory lib dem coaltion.

That'll never happen so whoever told you that should eat a shoe.

Geez.

Must seem like money just pissed up the wall at this point.

It seems poorly thought out if it was supposed to counter the youth vote. They are just standard negative campaign stuff, without any tailoring. The whole risk thing is likely to be less effective on a young audience too (less to lose, more time to recover). If I wanted to suppress the youth vote I think I would have targetted ads at that demographic trying to a) make Corbyn look like an everyday politician and b) make it seem like the Conservatives were guaranteed to win (implicitly: so why go to the trouble of voting ?).

This is a triumph for hope over experience, optimism over wisdom, and whiskey over brain cells. I would like to thank my team for helping me produce such a strong and stable set of predictions, and for avoiding Crab's Coalition of Chaos.

It's not happening. Not just because the Lib Dems are burned from 2010 but because at least in 2010 they had a semi-liberal, semi-modern Conservative party rather than the "fuck 'em" nastiness of this most recent manifesto.

I imagine the LD rumour is more Conservatives trying to find a way out from the DUP, rather than LD seeking a way into government. I mean honestly if I were the Lib Dem leadership I'd just let the Tories drink their poison chalice by themselves.

Chalk me up to another Tory/LD skeptic, Farron repeatedly hit home the remain stance, and also utter contempt towards a coalition with Labour. If his party go back into bed with the Tories, that would be it for them once these five years would be up, else a sizeable portion of their voter base (Huw certainly coming across as the norm, not the exception) defect to Green or Labour.

Lib dem central office says they have been taking a lot of calls about it over the past few hours but say they are not doing any deals.
Edit: Sorry that was in reference earlier this week to a deal with labour. The rumour about the tories though is still real.

The LD can't sell-out again, surely?

They certainly could (that's what politics is) but after last time they'd want enough "wins" (and a promise to avoid "losses") to avoid being utterly annihilated again . I can't see the Conservatives being willing to pay the price, they must either be desperate to even ask or think that LDs are morons.

In seriousness, what would the Lib Dems cross the floor for? Not a second referendum on Brexit, they'd get annihilated. Maybe a guarantee from May that she'd set up a cross-party Brexit committee.

And legalise cannabis

This is getting really exciting. Someone who has read the comics spoil me please, I need to know what happens next in The Walking Dead, UK edition. Is May's plot armour thick enough or is she about to get Negan'd by Boris? I can't wait for next week's episode.
