Also awesome my voice recognition recognizes "fucking"

And I'm not the only player in this game people putting their votes down should be cognizant of the turbo

Um... is no one gonna comment on kingkitty calling Fireblend scum? Is this a joke that's going over my head or something?

If it is, it's not nice to joke about roles as a cop, kingkitty. ._.

It wouldn't be that big of a surprise I suppose, but I'd feel the same way if you flipped scum as well.

KK can't check anymore unless they lied.

We don't know the full extent of his role. My assumption about how the flag system works may very well turn out to be true.

9. [m] CCS - Lynched D4 - Neutral EU Migrant (1-shot Role Cop, 1-shot Tracker)
- VOTES: Milk D1 // ourobolus, then nin, then Milk D2 // flame, then gorlak D3
- Apparently investigated Gorlak. Has a partner, roles unknown, claimed to know who the Doctor was.

1. [m] Crab - Died N4 - Town Doctor
- VOTES: nin D1 // ourobolus, then nin D2 // gorlak D3
- I looked through Crab's posts after the no-kill night, and the only thing he mentioned other than CCS was Flame_AC, so I don't know if he dropped a breadcrumb about who he protected or not.

I don't really see any major patterns with the kills other than they are pretty middle-of-the-road posters.

=========ALIVE=========
2. [m] *Splinter
- I can't read Splinter. I've played enough games/watched enough games with him in it that he knows what he's doing if he's scum. If it's late game, I'd have him as a "just in case" lynch unless I have other evidence. Read: Null

3. [f] backslashbunny
- The newbie schtick is getting old. Pretty much every post of hers has that qualifier sticking out of it and there's a point (usually a couple days in) where I don't care about it anymore. Read: Lean Scum

4. [m] Kalor
- Kalor has been pretty active considering his usual posting frequency. However I don't think any of them have stood out to me as...well, "useful" isn't the word, but they don't seem to really make any conclusions, just some musings here and there. Read: Lean Scum

6. [m] Ouro
- This dude's been on point. Best Miller ever. Definitely better than that bear from the other games. Read: Town as fuck

7. [m] Kawl_USC
- Kawl's another tough one for me, because in general I think he knows what he's doing and he's smart enough to be as active or inactive as he needs to be. Something about him is putting me off but I really can't articulate it, but who knows it might just be paranoia. I also know Kawl doesn't like to kill active players when he's scum, soooooooo... Read: Lean Scum

8. [m] Poltergust
- Poltergust has been entertaining my wild theories (or at least discussing them at length with me), which is insane, since I'm really just doing it to document it in the thread so I can cheer if I'm correct at the end of the game (sorrynotsorry). I've been wary of him for a while now, especially since he completely missed the voting trains on D1/D2, and voted for Flame on D3. YES YES I KNOW POT CALLING KETTLE ON D3 BUT YOU DIDN'T GIVE ME A CHANCE TO PUT MY VOTE BACK. Read: Lean Scum

11. [m] Fireblend
- Fireblend is...weirdly making sense to me. I don't know if I agree with him on Splinter, but like I said, kind of a blind spot for me. I'm still a little weirded out by the random Kawl_USC vote on D2. Read: Lean Town with a healthy dose of paranoia

12. [m] zeemumu
- Inconsequential. Read: Null

13. [m] kingkitty
- Claimed cop, clearing Crab and getting "non-Town" on CCS. Either Scum ALSO has a role cop and this is a ridiculous gambit, or he's telling the truth. I'm willing to assume it's the latter here, but I will find kitty and shoot him with a bagel gun IRL if he's pulling a fast one here. Read: Town

14. [m] Flame_AC
- Perpetual survivor. Considering Gorlak's thunderdome power, I imagine that Flame_AC is probably Town, but in the back of my mind I can't help but think that a good way to "clear" Gorlak was to put himself into a Thunderdome with a fellow scum in order to gain Town cred. It's a really dumb gambit, and Flame was already considered scummy the day before, and it might have been a big ol' nothingburger had kingkitty/CCS not thrown a wrench into it. So probably not a gambit, just misfortune for scum. Read: Lean Town

17. [m] Spoiled Milk

Honestly from that description I assume it's the same power, just because it wouldn't make a lot of sense to give the two same roles without same powers. At least, it sounds like it's the same.

Seems odd to me that they'd have the same powers. They could be two variations on a JOAT (Jack-of-all-trades), or something else entirely. I don't see anything that implies they would be the same.

I'm on mobile and en route to another city so I'll post more thoughts later, but after Crab's flip, Kawl was the first thing that popped into my mind as scum. I'll have to go back through his posts, but something is nagging me there.

Vote: Kawl_USC

So are you saying if someone else had flipped, I wouldn't have been at the top of your list?

How did that thought process work?

Kawl_USC

Member
That would require said role cop being super lucky and targeting 2 power roles on a row, but sure we shouldn't completely discount that. It's just that I think it'd be unlikely to have so many cops in one game :p

I dunno about Kawl. He could've been bussing Gorlak I suppose, but when he voted for Gorlak the vote was still very much in the air between him and Flame. I'm pretty sure scum had their hopes up about flame being lynched up til the end of D3.

I'm going to say Kalor and Splinter* seem more suspicious to me for that reason. They'd be more likely to give up knowing who town's doctor was (maybe while still hoping that CCS would drop by to give the name) in exchange for some town cred as part of the turbo than bus their teammate when a Flame lynch was still looking likely.

Fireblend is at least speaking some damn sense in this town.

Kalor's behavior was absolutely nonsense at the day end. Knowing now that gorlak was scum, it finally starts to come together.

6-4.

Vote: Flame_AC

Now 7-4. I was set on Flame at the start of the day and while CCSs claim made me waver, Gorlaks post sounds reasonable.

"We had decided to get this shitty power out of the way with the scummiest person in the game, but then for a bit it looked like I might need to bus, but now gorlak has posted and people seem to be buying it so we can stick to the plan."

Vote: Kalor

Yeah, the main thing for me is that at the beginning of the day their plan was very obviously to get Flame lynched. They were not planning to bus Gorlak from the get go - why choose widely scumread Flame as their target if it was?

And I am very sure that despite everything that happened, they thought they were getting Flame lynched pretty close to the day's deadline. The votes pointed that way for most of the day, the balance went the other way pretty quickly. I know I would have voted for Flame as scum, no doubt in my mind, being in their position.

I'm very confident about Kalor or Splinter* being scum.

I don't think I can rank everyone just yet, but my top 3 are Kawl_USC, zeemumu, and (to a lesser extent) Spoiled Milk.

See, here's the thing: I find the people who voted for Gorlak to be more likely to be scum than the people who didn't. This is where our opinions differ, but it makes sense to me that scum would choose an easy bus on Gorlak to make themselves seem more trustworthy (this is also why I'm wary of you, by the way).

You even brought up this interesting dichotomy in which the people who voted for Flame_AC also, overwhelmingly, voted for the turbo of CCS before he could possibly reveal who the doctor was. Would scum really want to turbo CCS before learning about that? It is possible that they already knew who that was, but the chances of that happening are pretty small.

So the only two people who voted for Gorlak and did not vote for CCS are zeemumu and Kawl_USC. Spoiled Milk did not vote for Gorlak either, but his vote on Flame_AC makes him out to be less suspicious to me.

This smells scummy as shit to me though. In a contested lynch which was one vote from hammer on the other candidate at one point, the people who voted for the scum in the running are more suspicious? Bussing is only a good play if the scum lynch can't be avoided, which I'm not buying for the thunderdome. You can call it a difference of opinions, but I don't believe it's one coming from an argument in good faith.

And the looking at people who didn't vote CCS, get out of here. Y'all turbo'd before I and several others even had a chance to check the thread. I understand CCS posited the boogeyman of revealing the doctor, but damn not getting to play a day in the game I signed up for sure is a lot of fun. The whole argument in this post feels ill minded. Hard scum lean on Polter from this.

No, just that it was the most recent flip. I could have easily said "the flip this day phase."

Also alternate theory on what happened last night:

Other neutral is an X-shot vig and killing the doc was a "fuck you" from CCS. What happened to the scum kill, whether blocked/protected/targeted Crab too, I dunno.

No, I'm just an idiot and forgot the Hopless MP thing.

Ouro, you've been all over the place this game dude. This is the second time you've got out there posting "alternative" theories for something that has a way simpler explanation.

And this is the second or third case of you just whiffing on basic facts in this game. What is up? I'm starting to think that you might be the other neutral with your interest in off the wall theories about night actions and lack of detail retention.

TBF, Gorlak's role was pretty shitty. If I was on his team I'd consider it a perfectly fine bus. Yeah, Flame was most likely getting lynched before the whole cop/role cop thing, but Gorlak was such an unknown at that point that it really could have gone his way without those revelations.

Hi, I'm Ouro. Is this your first game with me?

Just because some people seem to think I know what I'm doing (they are completely wrong), doesn't mean I don't make dumb assumptions or make mistakes. And like I said in my reads lists, the reasons I post the alternative theories are:

A) I'm pretty much just thinking out loud
B) When the game ends I get to either claim "SEE I WAS RIGHT" or say "WHATEVER IT WAS JUST A THEORY LOL I KNEW IT WAS WRONG"

either way it's a win

Actually, I'm surprised the night phase for last night was as long as it was. I guess it's up to the organizer's discretion how long it lasts, but I was under the impression that turbo votes lead to a shorter night phase.

That said, it's not my job to make sure you have fun. I wanted to save the doctor and contributing to the turbo of CCS before he could say anything was the only way I could. It's not like we knew at the time that he was only a 1-shot role cop.

Hey *splinter, I'm looking at your vote history and you vote pretty closely with Gorlak. I think it could just be a coincidence but he's the only known scum we have.

I absolutely loathe making a decision without proper information, and I hate making accusations even more so. I'm not comfortable with voting for you based just upon your vote history, but I'd really like to know why.

Also, I'd like to know what your opinion is on everyone so far! I love reading these lists of people's reads, it's honestly super informative!

BSB, you gotta just go for it in mafia! You repeated dismay at the possibility of lynching town or the mislynches we've had is just part of the game. More often than not, you are gonna be wrong. Voting history is one of the few hard facts in a mafia game, it's perfectly reasonable to vote some one based off of it.

All this to say, BSB is a pretty firm town read for me at this point. Tone/nature/etc of posts scream hesitant newbie. If she's scum, I'll eat my 3DS.

Yea that was mainly me being salty at not being able to play. Hammering was fine there. What I'm saying is that I still think judging people for not voting on someone when they literally didn't get a chance to post is busted.

The further a theory deviates from Occam's razor the less helpful it is and all it does is muddy the discussion with talk that is ultimately pointless.

Last night phase, the doctor was killed. Possible situations:

1) scum killed them.
2) the 3rd party faction has a vig shot and used it on the doctor. and the scum faction kill was stopped some how, for the second time this game.

Until we have some evidence or a claim that points towards the later, we should operate on the former and not create convoluted situations in our heads. Discussion about night actions really only behooves scum. Discussion on voting patterns, shifting reasoning, and read lists are actually meaningful and how town wins games.

these theories, and ouro's questions about role names, all just feel like fishing. it's seemed off to me since he found the need to comment twice! on the no kill night we had.

Thing is, you can't really tell if someone actually had no opportunity to post or if they simply chose not to. I have 0 doubt that scum wanted to hear what CCS had to say and were hoping that he would live long enough to tell them what he knew. Posting, but not voting, would be a lot more suspicious than not posting at all because there is 0 ambiguity there over if someone was paying attention.

I'm inclined to agree with you but TBH for me Kalor is more like 65% scum and *splinter is currently more like *80% scum. This might change as I plan to read all of both of their posts later.

I'm just curious-- why Kalor tonight over *Splinter?

Just asking because I have enough doubt about Kalor to be okay with lynching him, but I'm more confident in *Splinter being scum.
No reason in particular, honestly. I scumread them both just about the same. It could go either way for me, but like Kawl posted above, his "Gorlak post sounds reasonable" statement seems pretty damning. People seem to agree with my Kalor read (which is not something that happens often), so I don't see it moving soon, but I'd be just as happy to lynch Splinter today.

(BTW, just want to note this here for posterity - if we do vote *Splinter and he flips town, please just lynch me and put me out of my misery, because I am the worst at this game. You're doing fine. More than fine; in fact, not having asked for a replacement already makes you a top-tier gafia player in my book :p we all seem confident and good at reading people because we have accepted that this game is just as much if not more about getting lucky as it is about catching people in a lie or doing crazy gambits and you need to make assumptions and create narratives and accept that you're going to be more wrong than right to get anywhere.

And if you're scum, playing the newbie card is fine. There's no shame in using everything at your disposal to win (while following the rules obviously :p)

So, play the newbie card all you like and second guess yourself and fear lynching townies and all that, we've all been there, but don't bring yourself down like that. I feel like you've been great at keeping active and sharing your thoughts (or lies or whatever) and I've had fun playing with you so far.

TBH since the only concrete information we have about scum right now is that Gorlak was one, I think it's probably the safest move to start tugging on all the threads connected to him. That seems the most... logical? ionno

That game was so much fun, some hardcore bussing action.

I agree backslashbunny is top town candidate. It's important to note however, that we have flipped two members of scum, not one. CCS was scum-aligned neutral with a partner, so that person is out there somewhere. It's likely that if normal scum is eliminated they'll inherit the ability to kill so we should be on the lookout for them.
