1. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
2. Wolfenstein: The New Colossus
3. A Way Out
4. Far Cry 5
5. Metroid: Samus Returns
6. Star Wars Battlefront 2
While this was a down E3, the common thread I found was excitement in unusual places. M+R's stellar showing came out of nowhere and gave me another reason to pick up a Switch sooner rather than later. Rabbid Peach may well be 2017's best new character when all is said and done. S/o to the folks at Ubi Milan as the amount of passion and respect they have for the Mario franchise is absolutely incredible, and every bit of it shows.
EA's otherwise droll presser had one gem. A Way Out utilized an infrequently seen setting and a unique screen trick to create a truly memorable presentation. I need to find someone willing to experience this entire game with me.
Just when I thought I was out of Far Cry, Ubi managed to pull me back in. The standard Far Cry gameplay is more than acceptable when the setting is this unique. I look forward to murdering some cultists.
I played Mercury Steam's 3DS Castlevania and like most came away disappointed. Imagine my surprise when not only was a new 2D Metroid announced, but that MS was handling it and it looked surprisingly good. I guess I will have to dig the 3DS out one last time.
