I like this look a lot actually, it's pretty ace.

MCU Spidey is the closest we'll ever get to this and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Ditko better & the films can do better, imo

Mark Bagley's re-imagining is absolutely one of the best redesigns of a classic superhero costume of all time. If Ben was still the original Peter, rocking this costume... he'd be every bit the "true" Spider-Man to me, probably

Maybe you guys can help me; there is a panel where Spidey thinks to himself that maybe the spider bit also took away his ability to be happy

anyone have a shot of that panel?

So, I went to BestBuy and I bought the "Spider Man Legacy Collection" on Blu-ray with the steelbooks and all that shit.

...and I watched Spider-Man 2.1.

On a side note, I always enjoyed Spider-Man 2 - it was like a guilty pleasure, anyways...

After the credits rolled on Spider-Man 2.1 -
and this is coming from a Batman fan - Spider-Man is my new favorite superhero and this is the greatest superhero movie of all time, yes...I totally agree.

It has everything; it has a hero's motivation, it has cool, powerful abilities, it has the hero being revealed to innocents - but they wouldn't tell anyone who he is - and the villain is incredible.

It really is almost perfect and I'm really sorry that I never saw it before.

Yes, Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 2" is the GOAT of all superhero movies...-...equal to "The Amazing Spider-Man", because I love that movie also :)

It's a good film on its own, but it really nails what makes spiderman a unique hero. His job is thankless, and it takes a toll on his personal life. It's something that a lot of people can relate to and its what makes spider man so popular. He's got super powers, but his powers don't make it so that he isn't living in a crappy apartment, flunking in school, or too scared of rejection/messing up his friendship with a crush. There were some bad parts in the movie(MJ comes across as an indecisive impulsive person, and Harry's motivations were a little meh) but ultimately I think it captured the essence, the soul of what makes spider man such a relatable character.

I hated this costume with a passion growing up. It was so butt ugly it's not even funny.

I like Ben Reilly as Spider-Man as I basically grew up with the Clone Saga but give me this costume any day of the week instead:

That one is ugly as sin.

Wearing a torn up jacket with the sleeves cut off over a costume. Goddamn.

I used to love Spiderman 2, rewatched it recently and hated it. SO SO boring, and Kirsten Dunst is a fucking chore to watch.

I also find the train unmasking scene hilarious, 'he's just a kid' says someone speaking about Tobey Maguire, an actor that was about 65 years old at that point.

Agreed. Definitely my favourite redesign ever.

For me it's the visible utility belt

Goes against everything Spider-Man stands for

Finally, have they no sense of decency?

Also, at a certain point those reflective lenses would be really uncomfortable or just be too damn hard to make

I did that with Amazing Spider-Man 2 and still walked away disappointed.

I did that with Batman v Superman too. In fact, I went in expecting a festering pile of shit. I still walked out disappointed and angry at just how horrible it was.

My expectations for both of those were buried a few inches below the surface. I didn't bury the expectations deep enough. Burying my expectations just outside of hell could not have prepared me for BvS.

Well I guess you didn't go low enough! lol

But his belt was so damn important to him through the 90s at least, where he would store his cartridges of web, his flashlight, spider sign and all them gadgets.

This costume is so '90s it manages to have fingerless gloves without actually having fingerless gloves

Hmm.

So, Homecoming in July 2017. Peter's sophmore year.

Avengers 3 in May 2018. Avengers 4 in May 2019. Homecoming 2 in July 2019.

I assume that Homecoming is set 2016-2017 (a few months after Civil War, so a little behind real time), which means he'll be graduating high school/prepping for college in Homecoming 2. So, five movies with high school Peter. Cool.

tom is signed for 6 movies, not just 5

homecoming is sophomore

part 2 is junior year

there has to be a 6th movie for senior year

Have no idea who they'd get for the main villain for the third Spider-Man film (Mysterio obviously needing to be the main bad guy for the second).

It would be nice to see the Sinister Six on film sometime, but you really need to set up most of those characters in advance.

do it! it's such a nice little story

I was actually just mentioning the other day that the Loeb/Sale partnership literally came up with my favorite Batman stories of all time (Long Halloween/Dark Victory) and my favourite Superman story of all time (Superman of All Seasons) so if they manage to pull off the same thing with Spider-Man, I'm going to have to bake them a cake or something. I'm excited!

So Homecoming 2 will take place before Infinity War? Kind of an odd choice.

it's a little confusing now but it seems like

civil war - freshman year
homecoming - sophomore
iw / iw2 - summer break-ish
homecoming 2 - junior year
homecoming 3 - senior year
