The LP/HP, LK/HK setup is still driving me crazy. I miss the LMHS scheme. ; _ ;

It felt like coming home to me. In that Chen stream Dahbomb linked, the other guy with Chen said, "This just FEELS like a game made in the 90s." That's what I get in the demo.

I prefer it (mostly because) I'm biased, but also there's a lot more normals and command normals now and that feels wonderful to me.

MvC3 characters have 11 normals and MvCI characters have 12 normals. That’s only one more normal per character at the expense of losing a ton of special move variations.

I always preferred being able to differentiate punches and kicks.
It makes sense in Street Fighter (for the most part) where every character is a martial artist, but it's pretty arbitrary in a game like Marvel vs. Capcom where most characters use weapons and magic. Firing a gun isn't a kick.

Unless you're Bayonetta.

What I would give for Sega vs Capcom.

Sounds like they think they're making up for that with the infinity stone system. I REALLY don't wanna see 4 Morrigans on the screen at once haha. Or even worse if both players use Morrigan and choose the same gem...

8 MORRIGANS ON SCREEN.

Fanbase:"2 vs. 2 is shit, Capcpom"
Capcpom:"How's 4 vs. 4 sound?"

The Punch/Kick layout was in Darkstalkers as well. Outside of Talbain, we know for a fact they aren't martial artists. Eagle actually fights with sticks and all of his normals utilize them in CVS2/Alpha 3. Even if we go with your reasoning, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom featured far more martial artist practitioners than not, but that was the first of the Vs series to ditch the classic layout.

I didn't hate the LMHS layout. I'm just not particularly bothered that it's gone.

Pretty sure there would only be 6 Morrigans maximum on screen since only one player can activate infinity storm at a time

Oh yeah that's true. Dammit why you gotta go and ruin my joke like that!!! :p

Now after that clarification I'm actually disappointed we can't have 8 MORRIGANS on screen. It would have been so dumb it would be hilarious.

Yeah, this is one of the things that bothers me about it, logistically. It's also just a pain to now be pressing the face buttons in a counter-clockwise direction (yeah, I use pad).

Goddamn, just give us a proper demo already, Capcom! I want to actually learn how to play the game! D:

That's not necessarily true -- in fact, every single returning character from the last game has lost special move variations. Characters only have two versions of each special instead of three, and while in many cases that just means losing a speed/damage/distance variation of a move, there are instances where completely unique animations have been dropped to accommodate the new layout. Hawkeye can't do his backflip trick maneuver anymore (or is it the roll?), for instance. Chris lost one of his grenade types. Rocket Raccoon's traps have been completely gutted.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Speaking of the control change, I wonder what it means for characters like Dormammu who had 3 variations of the same attack like Dark Hole and Liberation (short, mid, long)

I personally am coming around to the teabag motion for DP. It solves 2 problems at the same time IMO.

One of a DP coming out instead of the move allocated to qcf+same button. I know that you can do a half-circle instead to cancel out the DP shortcut but in some scramble situations, it can still be an issue.

Second that you're guaranteed to get a DP regardless of the opponent side-switching, meaning you won't have to encounter situations where you have to input the DP the other direction to get it out in time.

At least Chris kept both best options tho but I'm more annoyed with the fact Captain America lost his air shield (L).

Rockets new moveset is going to take awhile for me to get over. I loved using log trap in game and as an assist like the noob I am. Hawkeye got the scalpel too like you said. The return of MVC2 controls doesn't bother me that much but only for the fact it fucks with his options. Both rocket and Hawkeye were on my team so this hurts :(.

No kidding. I usually have Hawkeyes in my team so I noticed he got couple of new tools but he appearantly lost some good tools. I don't know how I feel about that yet. Rocket Raccoon really got butchered up. In return he got a new special move which is similar to pre-existing move he already have but with stun properties which I'm not keen with. I already tried him in the demo and I still don't know how I feel about him.

Yeah I just don't even want to play as rocket anymore. Moves that were VERY important to his combos got altered so I guess I could relearn him but given with what's changed, not sure if I want to. Hawkeye I think is still salvageable though. I'm still bitter that I'll probably never get to use Jin or Hayato :(.

Maybe you can select the same character twice on your team and we can have 8 v. 8 Morrigans

We all know that isn't gonna happen. After MVC2, the ability to pick 2 of the same character seems to have become a big No No in basically every fighting game for whatever reason.

I was playing that new mobile Spider-man game and I unlocked a wierd costume that intrigued me. It's the Bombastic Bag-man. I looked this guy up online and, lo and behold, it's Peter in a F4 suit with a bag on his head (lol).

Except one particular feature of this costume is missing in-game. Have fun guessing which it is...

Please Lord don't let it be the bag

I wonder if Marvel will release this for Unlimited now that Xmen aren't as much of an issue
They've done almost everything else :p

Spidey's costumes in this game will most likely be two-to-three of these
Classic
Symbiote
Miles Morales
Scarlet Spider (Either Kaine or Ben)
Maybe 2099
Maybe a really awkward looking Gwen costume
Superior?
Negative Zone
Ends of the Earth armor
Spider-man Noir
insert that one popular costume that I'm ultimately forgetting here

Seeing Spider-Man tomorrow.

If there ain't some shit from these Cap-Cats on Friday I'm out till ol' man Bugface is revealed

I think

Also, I prefer LMHS but I think that's just because I learned to actually play VS. on TvC. It's a weird adjustment back but it should be fine. Down down is probably the bigger adjustment but again it'll come in time.

Playing on stick anyway - the counter clockwise and down down on pad would probably take longer to learn for me.

That's incredible. I suppose they had no other choice, either remove the logo and get the costume, or not have the costume at all.

They haven't done the best Spiderman aka Supaidaman , he should just be in Marvel infinite instead though.

I think they'll give colors for Classic, Symbiote, Gwen, Kaine, Miles, Iron Spider - Kaine being the least likely of those.

Alternate would be Scarlet Spider (Ben), 2099, or Gwen with Hood.

EX costumes with new VA's would be dope buuuuuuuuuuuuuut I'm gonna say that's a long long shot even for 2-3 seasons down the road.

This game was apparently made pre-ban, meaning they retroactively removed that one symbol after the fact. Pretty sure the only reason the costume was kept at all is because it affects gamrplay.

Why wasn't CoC rettoactively edited to remove mutants, then? My guess is it might have had to do with mutants being a full type in the RPS system and removing them would have too much impact on the game (like Doom in Marvel Heroes).

Sorry about double post.

Did they? What did they exactly said?
I read it on another site and did not watch it myself.
The poster might have been trolling/lying though because he said Ono said it and Ono wasn't on stream(?)

Gotta wait for the ultimate matchup
Supaidaman vs Jin Saotome

Nonsense. 4 buttons vs. 4 buttons. Same number of special moves, and so says Dante. UMvC3 even saw them add new specials like Spencer's bomber and Morrigan's Soul Steal to the S button. There are zero advantages to the new button setup.

Now we have to wonder how certain moves, like Dark Hole, will work out. Will Dark Hole be on 2 punches and 1 kick? Or is Dormammu going to lose a version of Dark Hole? Or will they rework it so it's character-relative now? It's either going to be awkward, or it's going to suck.

My guess is
both
.

Edit: What did they do with moves that have 3 essential versions in UMvC3 like Spencer's grapple (forward, diagonal, up) and Thor's Mighty Strike (forward, diagonal, down)?

It's because marvel is now cool with mutants. They're involved with legion, I believe. They just started several new titles in the comics.
