Other than a couple of things that I didn't care for, the Casting was great. I'm actually excited for a Scott Snyder comic, truly we are in the darkest timeline.

I don't know if I can name ten, but what comes immediately to mind for me:

Byrne's Fantastic Four
Busiek's Avengers and Busiek & Nicieza's Thunderbolts
All of Abnett/Lanning cosmic
Hickman's Marvel run, starting in Secret Warriors
Priest's Black Panther

I just can't get over how dense The Casting feels. I'm just going through BC articles and seeing stuff I didn't really get at all. Gonna take a few rereads.

Have you all listed your top favorite series (plural) of all time recently? To make it easier, you don't have to worry about order. Just list 5-10 of your favorites.
Let's go!

Grant Morrison Animal Man
Jack Kirby Fourth World
Geoff Johns Green Lantern
Chris Claremont X-Men
Planetary
Hellboy

Fuck this Black Panther EW cover shoot is gonna make me buy more of the new Black Panther issues on Comixology. I can't wait for Marvel Unlimited on this one.

Generation Zero, then Harbinger Renegade.

I was thinking the jump from Imperium to Renegade seemed too big. I'm interested to see what Generation Zero have been up too. Still got 2 volumes of Imperium to read first though.

Also people who say you can jump in and read Imperium without reading Harbinger are insane.

It doesn't seem like much has happened between Imperium and Renegade, but Generation Zero stuff did, at least. There's no real indication of anything else.

To your last point, I think it's totally possible to read Imperium without reading Harbinger, but you really get a tremendous amount of context. Taking Imperium on its own, though, it doesn't rely too much on the Renegades side of things and that's why I'd recommend Imperium as its own thing if someone is pressed for money/time. Still, people should read them both because Dysart is amazing!

So I finally finished the Henrietta Hunter (or the non-Princess Diana) arc in X-Statix. This wasn't just a slump in the run, it was just bad. Ham fisted and boring at the same time. And that includes the next Myles "depowering" issue. I don't know if I've ever soured on a series I liked this quickly. There seems to be an interesting looking X-Statix vs Avengers arc coming up and hopefully it finishes reasonably strongly like frye mentioned.

That was definitely the worst part of the series. I liked the last arc a lot myself, had some really fun moments, especially with Guy Smith. Overall though, the X-Force part of the run was definitely the high point which I'm sure you noticed.

List:
Doom Patrol
Hellboy
BPRD
Batman Inc.
Power Girl
Love & Rockets (Locas)
Daredevil (Miller)
Hawkeye (Fraction)
X-Force/X-Statix

Beyond that, I'd have to do some more serious thinking. Was leaning towards Megg and Mogg for a tenth.

I really don't know. You need so much of that context. It's like my friend, he's seen the new Spider-man and is wanting to read some comics. No surprise there. People suggested Superior Spider-man. It might be good or even great, I haven't read it so I can't comment, but for someone who doesn't read comics I think it's a bad choice. You need to understand that Peter is actually Doc Ock, how that happened and why that happened. I've found often suggesting the "best" comics is the worst path to take.

If he wasn't character acting it would have been really good. But Eisenberg just played Mark Zuckerberg or his character from the Double.

I really don't disagree with you. Personally, I am the guy who wants to read everything and soak all that in, but I understand that other people don't necessarily want to do all that reading or just don't have an interest. I think Imperium gives the reader enough to go off of, even if it's not the best way to read it.

We'll agree to disagree :p

I'm not sure about the show but the art looks good.

It makes me really amped for Metal but at the same time a bit dissapointed we didn't at least get some kind of follow up to some question laid out in Forge. It really makes this two parter all set up and not really a precursor or lead in. It's literally the Forge and casting of Metal

Kind of awesome for the names to end up being so literal. I don't know why this only becomes apparent to me now but it's awesome.

Just got home. I rode my bike from my old place 'cause I left it there last week when I moved. 40km night ride from the opposite side of Tokyo!! It was fun!

Now I get to relax and read new Kill or be Killed and Dark Days! Wooo!

Things that I notice from The Casting:
Hawkman and Hawkgirl getting a new origin story?
Hints at the Dark Matter line books.
The immortals include the Wizard, Mary Seward, (Vampire lady from I, Vampire) and Ra's al Ghul.
Hyper-Adapter from Morrisons Batman run.

Wow. Mage volume 3 started today. I had no idea it was coming. I had read some rumors over the last few years, but didn't expect them to pan out. Mage is one of my favorites, so I hope v3 maintains the same quality. Much like the new season of Curb your Enthusiasm this is something I've been hoping for for years, but didn't think we'd get.

I've never ridden a bike that far before but I have rollerbladed about half that distance a bunch of times. That was a pretty good work out.

Wow. Kill or be Killed 10
So doesn't this just make everyone just feel like the demon is a delusion even more? If he had potentially seen the demon in a picture his dad made... I want it to be a real demon, because I have no idea how the story will go if that's the case.

That's awesome. I can't rollerblade, but that sounds super fun!

My Hero Academia deserves a good game.
I also want a X-23 focused game. The 22 Minutes thing in a Hitman type game could be cool.

From Gillen's newsletter:
I also handed in Aphra 14 on monday, and did some real work on the second half of year 2, which should take us up to issue 25. Busssssy.
It's been a week for starting new things, really. After finishing Aphra 14, I started work on the first draft of the first issue of Spangly New Thing. After that, I start work on another new project, which I'll call Ooh! Nice One! Thing, which should be announced soon. These periods are always exciting, and I've got months of this to come.

Oh – and David is redesigning Otto in Ludocrats, which is looking delightful. I'll have to show you some soon.

Weeeeeee!
I've done way more before in one day, and that was in the desert (9 day biking trip in high school). Tokyo is pretty easy compared to where I grew up riding my bike (in the mountains).

How is the terrain for cycling in Japan? An easy ride or no?

Went to my LCS to get the Casting. 2 things.
1. Comics are expensive. £4.75 is too much.
2. The guy behind the counter hasn't read Court of Owls. I just figured everyone had read that!

Green Lantern: Earth One book coming

For Green Lantern, the story sees Hal Jordan re-envisioned as an astronaut who seeks the thrill of discovery, yet finds himself in an unfulfilling job prospecting asteroids for Ferris Galactic. His fortunes change when he finds a powerful green ring and learns that it came from the Green Lantern Corps, a group that was long ago murdered by killing machines called Manhunters. This sets him on a mission to reinstate the Corps, a nearly impossible task for the fearless Jordan.

That seems quite expensive, was around £3.70 at my online comic shop I order from. My nearest LCS is about an hour away and I'd only be able to get there at weekend when not working. I think as its an oversized issue its more than a lot of usual comic prices anyway. Not counting most of Marvels prices ha.
