Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood |OT| Y'all Need to Calm Down

Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Buy the fruits, gardening is the past time of the real estate elite of FFXIV, not for us homeless common men.

Can't you use flowerpots if you have an FC room or apartment to grow stuff that doesn't require cross-breeding if the GAF gardens are busy and chocodye prices jumped?

Or do they not work? I didn't experiment much with flower pots.

Bought all the fruits I needed, costed me about 100k. Eek.

Wait, so you can farm in your own room?

Because I have a bunch of seeds and nowhere to plant them.

How do you get a room to decorate?

$$. There's a door inside the FC house on the back wall that you can pay 300k gil for a private room; you can also go to the apartment building and drop 500k (I think?) for a personal apartment if you don't want your room tied to your FC or you want a room in a different housing area.

You get to decorate, can do flowerpots for personal gardening, and most importantly free up retainer space by dumping all your stored furniture in a pile on the floor

They added indoor flowerpots; there are hard limits on how many you can have in a room and you can't cross-breed as far as I know so a garden is still better overall, but it makes it a little easier if you have seeds for stuff.

Two questions before I have to unfortunately put the game down and go to work:

What's a good place to level up from 43-45? I hear the leves of Mor Dhona are good to level from 45-50 but I'm obviously not at that point yet. I tried the level leves in Coerthas but they're really slow. I was just wondering if there was a better alternative before I waste anymore time on them.

Should I wear a shield as a WHM?

There are 40-45 leves in north thanalan

Northern Thanalan used to be The Place for 40-50 FATEs, but now I think most just spam Palace of the Dead.

Don’t get used to wearing a shield as WHM. Pretty much all post-50 WHM weapons are two handed.

I don't think that's what's supposed to happen. Did you use a color calculator? Sounds like you maxed out a color value. If so, using another fruit may bring the color value down (it operates on a convoluted RGB scheme) and you might have to feed the fruit to bring it back up to max, depending on the color target.

Yeah I was using that website and I followed the recommended feeding order.

I guess I'll wait 6 hours and see what color it has, then I'll use the calculator again.

Still churning through Heavensward and the story is legit amazing.

That Nidhogg fight was great.

21 quests to go before I hit Stormblood and I'm actually anticipating every one of those 21 remaining quests.

Also, I love how they completely recast all the voice actors in Heavensward. They're all dramatically better voices now.

I'm a nerd and rewatched all the Stormblood cutscenes and most of the Heavensward ones in my inn over the last couple days (I changed race back to Au Ra last week and wanted to see how my Auri dude looks in these cutscenes), and while both expansions' narratives are strong, I have to give the edge to Heavensward still. It just has that more emotional resonance that Stormblood lacks.

3.3 ;.;

Agreed, some of the big moments in SB don't feel as earned as they do in HW.

That's the patch that I'm on.

Damn. Still in the cutscene, actually, but it is FFXIV at its very best.

The markets are a trash fire right now. There doesn't seem to be a single item worth the time investment to make and sell anymore. Even grade 6 crafting materia is sub 700k, and that's hours and hours of time investment. It's left me pretty jaded considering how hard I went to level and gear my crafters only to find nothing to make or sell. I sold a single 2 star Helmet the day 4.05 released and have yet to be able to move any of the fending pieces I made, at any price. Bummer man.

The crafted market should be marginally better in 4.2 and 4.4. People having 2 weeks worth of Omega normal drops before the crafted gear released doesn't help. Lord knows I usually start buying crafted stuff after getting sick of doing normal.

This does come from post-release patches, so there's still a chance that SB can push a scene like this.

...but that also started as a clifhanger from 3.0, so who knows. I didn't mind her in the story, but considering the base's reaction to her I doubt they could pull off a scene like that with Lyse and be successful. Splitting the focus between Doma and Gyr Abania kinda killed her chance to get the development we got from traveling through Coerthas and Dravania with Estinien.

Ya'll weren't kidding, the DRK storyline remains the absolute best
I enjoyed the new Dragoon storyline too but yeah, new DRK storyline is really good, and the payoff during the level 70 job quest is excellent. Warrior questline's also pretty decent.

And Machinist gives us more Hilda so that's welcome.

SO just unlocked chocoboo stabling and just fed my chocobo one pear and it says it's color will change in 6 hours. I want to get it red and was gonna follow the feedlist guide but i got some questions.
If i got that message after one fruit is that normal?
Can I just spam feed him 60 whatever times and then after 6 hours till change colors to what I want or is this a long process where you have to wait 6 hours in between each feeding?

Feed all at once during one feeding (so between 6 hours which is when the Chocobo will "update" its color). The message is normal.

DRK storyline is fantastic.

As in, I recommend anyone who doesn't plan on leveling DRK go Youtube that shit, it's so good. ALC quest of all things is super good too from what I hear, goes into a lot of old-school 1.0 lore.

I began playing the free trial of this from PSN, really enjoyed the game so I went out & bought the complete edition today. Now that I'm playing the full version, trophies aren't unlocking & I can't figure out why.

I tried completing 1 quest/killing 1 enemy on the character I was using, nothing. I created a new character & completed a quest, no trophy. I deleted all the save data for FFXIV & created another new character.. completed a quest & still no trophy. I deleted the app & im currently reinstalling it off the disc I bought, so I'm hoping that will fix the issue. Anyone else had this issue? If so, how did you fix it?

Edit - I never got asked to input the code for the free month the game comes with. Is it possible the game still thinks I'm playing the free version, hence no trophies unlocking?

Edit #2 - I think the above edit was the issue, I didn't have Heavensword or Stormblood installed yet. Oops. All is well, trophy unlocked.

If they don't nerf some stuff or make the requirements for the new items really high, it probably won't help THAT much.

One of the big thing about the current state is you can macro off NQ mats with minimal stats and still HQ 85+% of the time(which you can make 100% by getting a few HQ mats, which you can get by macroing them to HQ using NQ mats). The fact you can macro everything means everyone can do it as long as they can copy paste the reddit threads, and the fact you only need to minimum stats for it which don't even require hard melds and can pretty much be done with minimal overmelding of tier IV materias(so not even the relatively cheap V and obv not the expensive VI) means the investment to get there isn't even that high. So obviously the items you craft aren't worth that much.

That said you can still make money, it's just not large margins like most of the crafting stuff. Also doesn't help that the gear is just slightly recolored WoD and that pentamelding it costs a fortune while it's the same ilvl as omega stuff, which as pointed out was released 2weeks before so a lot of people already have a bunch of left side stuff and will get leg or chest next week.

How much money are you expecting? Prior to 4.05 I spent a little time making materials like Tama-hagane Ingot or Worsted Yarn, or foods like Onigara-yaki at anywhere from 100% to 400% markup from the base mats. Not sure if that's still a worthwhile market though and it's time consuming having to adjust daily to market trends. Volume is also a bottleneck.

While I was doing my brief research into the market I found most finished products not worth crafting relative to the second tier materials. In my short time crafting in FFXIV I feel like it's a pyramid scheme where most of the money you make comes from other crafters buying your stuff to craft things.

That's what I mean, you can still make money, but you can't expect to make 3million off a 2star craft that uses 250k worth of mats and that literally everyone with less than a million invested in their gear can craft using a macro with those 250k mats. But in the past you could expect this type of shenanigans because of the higher requirements on having melded gear and having to manually do your shit, or at least pay attention to the macro and pick multiple macros depending on RNG and what not.

But you can still absolutely make a lot of money in the current situation, especially if you have a lot of retainers to sell a lot of things in varying quantities. Playing on quantities is a big way to make money I've found. For example if I have 20 HQ ingots or whatever to sell, I'll split them in 5x1, 2, 3 and 5 or something like that. I'll often list the single ones 10-15% higher too, and they generally sell first. But the big ticket items either have expensive mats(the new aquapolis stuff) or too much competition and don't sell for that much plus demand isn't that high as usual for crafted battle gear so it can take a while to sell. Potions/food/processed materials still sell quickly though.

Food and Potions are probably still worthwhile as people are challenging o3s and o4s. My infusions sold pretty quickly.

Infusion market should be pretty steady and, if Detla follows Creator, might actually get better the further we get into the tier as people go full padlogs, so ALC isn't a bad field to be in provided aethersand prices on your server aren't currently insane.

Aethersand prices are TOTALLY INSANE on Ultros and will suck up a lot of your profits but they're easy to get yourself if you have gatherers.
