Got my copy of DS1 from Sl9 however disc 1 is warped badly on one side. Makes it unplayable really. Disc 2 is a little warped but isn't too bad or impacts on the performance

Sent an email, but has anyone got any experience with customer support with sp9?

I never got a reply from them when I sent them an email about the shipping of all my records.

I'm afraid of mine, they should be arriving to me tomorrow or the day after an if they are warped I don't have any way of returning them.

I know I'm really late to the party on this, but do you folks know anywhere I might be able to get Data Discs Outrun vinyl?

if you are willing to wait, Data Discs tends to repress most of their vinyls over time and then release them with new releases.

Daaamn StayFree, I hope you didn't have to sell a child to get that Life is Strange.

It's not that bad...all you gotta do is make friends with a hardcore Square Enix fan and convince them to throw away all their rewards points for the vinyl lol

Wait holy shit, I didn't know that Alan Wake one existed!

Yeah, same here until recently. I came across the vinyl by complete accident. Only later did I realize just how rare it is.

20 bucks for a 7". We RSD now.

I'm completely against this price, but knowimg me there's a good chance I'll fold over and buy one since I missed out on the ship2shore release.

Someone tweeted this image, which is supposedly from a deleted Bandai Namco Asia tweet for the Ni No Kuni II special ediiton. It looks like a record in the background. I want it to be true!

"Joe Hisaishi composed theme vinyl record" sounds like a 7".

^ That Firewatch vinyl is gorgeous.

Unrelated, here is a download code for the Mafia 3 original score. Came with my 12" vinyl. No need for it. Hopefully somebody here will put it to good use. (The score is fantastic.)

Now THIS I will definitely buy if I can get it in America.

Has anybody's stardew valley vinyl arrived yet?

Yes. I got my tri-color from Mondo last week. Check a page or two back in this thread for some pics.
The two-color ones have not yet shipped as far as I'm aware. I don't even think those are pressed yet... could be wrong.

How much did you pay for this if you don't mind me asking? I've only seen it at hilariously high prices and I really want it!

Square Enix was offering it on their site for points only. Looks like StayFree has a friend that had a ton of points. Lucky! I went the eBay route to get mine.

As much as I would want a Life is Strange LP, where did you manage to find Bright Falls?!
I'm curious too! Looking at Discogs, only 2 people on that site actually own it... how rare is that one?

but, I see that the 7" vinyl is a pictured one, aren't those very bad sound quality vinyls?

Historically yes, but some recent pressings have actually been surprisingly good imo. I've read that some plants have/are developing new and better techniques for pressing them. Hard to say if that's the case here.

Just an update on this - still no response from SL9.

Will hit up their twitter, otherwise, does anyone know how to straighten a LP?

anyone here knows how these vinyls from our days are made? and by that I mean if they are made from an analog master or just putting the digital sound (being from a CD or a PC file) on the record.

EDIT: I need to know if the records I'm buying (Dark Souls, and other ones) are coming from the same source or are actually made differently.

No joke, some folks put them in the oven... and it works!

This works but your results may vary. I definitely wouldn't do it to an expensive new purchase as the unwarped record might still sound like crap if the groves get affected by the heat. There's a vinyl flattener that's two ceramic plates that screw on the record and you put it into a heating pad that I've heard works best. It's also not cheap though.

I effing hope it's an analog master. But I wouldn't be surprised if most aren't. I don't think most companies tell us. I think the companies that RIP from hardware for the vinyl probably master for vinyl.

Most of the time these days, especially for video game music, there is no analog master recording.

The ideal though is that the recording provided for vinyl has been mastered by someone who understands vinyl and is prepping a format specific file for the plant.

my SLP DS vinyls arrived to me finally, haven't opened any yet, but they arrived perfectly fine, nothing wrong on the packaging at all, so hopefully that means my records are saved from warping.

I see, well I kind of expected that analog masters would be rare nowadays.

Agreed. I'll also add that it's beneficial if the file is at least better than CD quality. If it's CD quality or worse, then it's kind of hard to say that having it on vinyl is a benefit, other than the bigger artwork.

I'd like to think a lot of digital-to-vinyl releases are at least 96/24 masters... but I'm willfully ignorant to the fact that I'm probably very very wrong
and I'd prefer not to know.

True analog masters are pretty uncommon for any music released since digital mastering became ubiquitous. There are analog purists who won't buy anything that has seen a digital pass at all. As I said, I'm not that discerning. If I'm knowingly given the choice for a single title, where I know one copy was from an original analog master and the other was from a digital copy of that analog master, I'd choose the former. The thing is... that choice is rarely available, and if it is available, it's not always obviously stated as such.

Well you also have the issue that a lot of analog tapes have issues now because of how old they are.

The queen box set that was released a few years ago had this problem and so it was sourced from a high quality digital recording of the original analog tapes. A lot of people freaked out but the band basically said that the digital source was needed to remove all of the issues with the analog tapes which had degraded over time.

I had some success with a very warped copy of Talkie Walkie by cleaning it, keeping it in its sleeve and leaving it under a very heavy coffee table book for a while. Good luck!

Tri-color Contra leftovers tomorrow on Mondo.

Boooo. Just got that email and frowned because I already have the red/blue split. I'd much rather have the tri-color, but I don't think I am going to buy another copy just for the colors.

Also, has anyone in the US had issues receiving shipments from Data Discs? I've received several packages with crushed corners in the past, and they've been kind enough to send me a replacement album jacket with future orders. I received my Altered Beast the other day and the corners are finally in great shape... but there's a huge seam split on the top, which I have never experienced from them before. :( I feel so bad about having to write them again for something that isn't their fault... and I am sure they are tiring of it too. They've been nothing but professional about it so far though.

Oh man, I've got to pick that one up. I've got the movie LP, but that's the one I really want. Where'd you pick it up?

Just got stupid lucky on eBay. I've been hunting it down for a while in Japan and for it to randomly pop up on eBay from a US seller blew my mind. I don't think the seller knew what he had.

If you're not hung up on getting the picture disc I recommend picking up the retail version. It contains more tracks and most likely better sound quality.

How much did you pay for this if you don't mind me asking? I've only seen it at hilariously high prices and I really want it!

Got one gifted to me by SE and another one purchased using Square Enix member reward points.

I have no idea. I got mine from a co-worker who got it from a Remedy dev. I was told only principal devs within the studio got one with a few others given out in contests, but I've never seen one in the wild.
