It was 900p.
Adaptive resolution which basically ran almost 100% in 720p could not hold 900p 95% of the time
It was 900p.
Of course its possible to port to weaker software, but sacrifices have to be made for it.
And i doubt GAF would take any cut content happily instead of blaming S-E for being lazy and not wanting to support the switch instead.
Taking a game that already struggle in stronger hardware to a weaker one would require way more work than just reducing the resolution a tiny bit (and trust me resolution is already bad enough on the X1, i have that version)
SE: We have plans for FF on Switch.
GAF: No, you dont
They want to do more with the (FF XV) franchise, can't give complete, solid details, but there is something out there, it sounds like Twitch, let's leave it that.
Afterwards they go on that everyone on the FF XV team loves that certain console. I assume they're in early development then.
Agreed. It's probably cheap to add another platform to an already considerably multiplat release.Yeah, sounds like the Pocket Edition to me.
I know it's not coming to Mac OS or Linux, but I don't understand why they didn't name the PC version just "FFXV PC", "PC Ver." or "PC Edition".
"Windows Edition" sounds like I'll need some blinds to match the game.
The game on xb1 drops to 720p to keep the fps stable.
Staying reasonable, i dont see how everyone is so confident its possible to port it.
(pls dont gimme that - every game can run on everything if downgraded enough argument)
I like the switch for what it is, but it struggles even with dq heroes 2. When i see switch run something close to xv's graphical complexity ill be with you. But right now i have a hard time swallowing it.
I dont actually. Maybe its rushed maybe its not.Because the port was rushed to hell, not because of the hardware. You know that.
I mean everyone keeps assuming this will be some kind of downgraded port of FFXV but seeing as they've got this whole "FFXV universe" thing, I could see this just being something else entirely instead of some kind of port of the main game. I mean I'd personally like to see something original instead of buying a worse version of the same game except portable now.
I dont actually. Maybe its rushed maybe its not.
Point is we wont know until we see something as complex running well on it.
Yeah but devs dont bother with downports which cost so much and so troublesome to make they dont even bother with it since the inception of gaming too, especially with nintendo plattforms.I'm confident that if they want to do it they can do it. Because we have had down porting and different levels of visuals since the inception of gaming. It doesn't matter if you don't like the argument. That's the reality.
Windows 10 means it is on the Windows app store specifically. Not Steam or Origin.
It's listed as "Windows Edition" on Steam, as well.
I'm torn. No matter what SquEnix does, I am not content. Thus, I feel guilty.
On one hand, more software is undeniably good, even if it doesn't cater to me (and FFXV -pocket or otherwise- sure as heck doesn't) - but I'd much rather have something small, quirky and unique (and with support for local multiplayer).
Porting over a huge-ass bloated singleplayer roadtrip thingamadingdong with photorealistic food items (or its inbred portable app cousin) just doesn't strike me as a good business opportunity. Then again, better than nothing. Gah.
Still dreaming of a resurrection of the "My Life As A ______" or vanilla FFCC series sequel...
Agreed. It's probably cheap to add another platform to an already considerably multiplat release.
Remember all the people who said it was impossible.
That was before we saw Pocket Edition.Remember all the people who said it was impossible.

So thats a pointless argument in this context to begin with.
]Eh, downports happen if they think they can make money off of it. Enter CoD on the Wii. Enter TitanFall and Rise of the Tomb Raider on the 360. Again, not sure what you're getting at.
It's listed as "Windows Edition" on Steam, as well.
To be fair......a system that cant run GTA 5, Persona 5 or FF XIII obv. would also have some mayor issues with running FFXV, no matter how much downgrading and optimization it involves.
If this would happen, really curious how much they'd have to sacrifice to get it running.
Ummmmm, WHAT?! There's no way that Switch couldn't EASILY handle any of thoseTo be fair......a system that cant run GTA 5, Persona 5 or FF XIII obv. would also have some mayor issues with running FFXV, no matter how much downgrading and optimization it involves.

Yes, so why argue with the technology?
The Switch could probably handle the game just fine with lower poly counts, some lower res textures, PS3 style hair and slightly downgraded lighting and shadowing. It wouldn't look quite as good as the PS4 version, but it'd be very similar.
Some of you are so dramatic.
I mean, before you call out other people speculating stuff that is unannounced and unconfirmed for being dramatic, consider for a moment that you yourself don't know what is going to happen, and could be wrong in your speculation. If the Pocket Edition is indeed being considered as a foundation for the development of the Switch game in the next year or so, your aggressive tone will look pretty dumb in retrospect.
No need thanks. Please forget about this game and do something worth playing.

It's not going to be the PS4/XB1 version. No damn way.
Interestingly you are dramatically overestimating Switch's graphical capabilities. But we'll see when either a specialist Switch version, or the Pocket Edition comes to Switch.
Aggressive tone? I don't know what you're talking about.
There are people LITERALLY saying it's impossible to port the PS4 version to Switch.
They can just downgrade the graphics and geometry just like they did to get it running on PS4/XB1.
Not saying it won't be a lot of work, but there probably isn't much keeping it from running on Switch outside of the graphics.
It could be pretty impossible depending on the state of the Luminous Studio engine right now. It was a struggle to get the game out on existing platforms as it is. The PC version is coming out more than a year later, and the Switch was never part of the consideration when the tech was being built. Impossible doesn't always mean technically impossible, it could also mean that the amount of effort required to implement that is beyond the value of the project.
