Uncharted: The Lost Legacy |OT| Ladies Trip

Just finished Chapter 4.

Put me on #TeamILoveIt. Seriously, I think this could be the best chapter in the series. I had so much fun just exploring around looking for the coins and being amazed by the views, enjoying the banter, stealthing the shit out of every enemy encounter and solving the puzzles (oh my God the puzzles are amazing!).

I will keep on going now!

Oh,it just gets better and better. Buckle in.

Want to buy a game today and i have 40 bucks to spend. So i am thinking about either U:LL or Hellblade.
I love the Uncharted series but didnt enjoy 4 as much as previous games. But i love exploring, puzzles and great graphics. I also love games with great stories and immersive storytelling and i hear great things about Hellblade.
Which game do you recommend?

Oh sorry
I figured it was mine because I was the only one to mention Sam in a while and I hoped people wouldn't think I was talking about his actual appearance ingame :p

On TLL vs Hellblade: the latter is a completely different type of experience. It's hard-hitting and intense but as a game I was much more impressed by what TLL managed to do. I wasn't a fan of Hellblade at all, unlike many others.

Hellblade doesn't do it for me either. Maybe the concepts make sense intellectually on paper but in execution they are way too gamey and not in a good way since the concepts are so simple and repetitious. Really great art direction though and there are certainly some cool ideas in there. I haven't finished it yet though so maybe I'm missing something more, but I've played for a few hours and it's mostly a drag.

I have to say I agree. I was pretty ready for Hellblade to end by the 2/3 point. Interesting game, but I played Hellblade and LL back to back, and LL was much more satisfying and fun. Apples and oranges, but I DO play games to have fun, and boy did LL deliver much better in that regard.

Oh wow. Those end credits...are...are...are fucking adorable! Gah, the
cartoon chibi like characters
slayed me.

So everyone said that Chloe was too Nate-like before LL, all about the job, no alliegances. If she just talked about her old jobs it would just reinforce that and make her one-dimensional. I liked that the writing brought out other qualities in her. It was also about inexorably following the ties of your parents, in some cases even when you don't want to, so without getting too Spoilery I liked that too.

you mean, exactly like the new lara croft? :) ...

all i can say is, it wasn't 'everyone' who said that chloe was too nate-like, cuz i never did. & i never really asked for or wanted a more 'vulnerable' chloe. it's extremely cliched, it's over done here, & it's boring. & it's something female leads seem to invariably be more often subjected to than male leads...

I'm on chapter 4, and I don't understand how some people didn't like this game. It's way better than uncharted 4 so far to me. The visuals are insane, and the gameplay encounters feel better. The banter while exploring is also better. Loving it.

Naughty Dog continually impresses. I went in with really low expectations since the trailers did absolutely nothing for me, but it won me over by the end of the journey. The final act is very strong.

I think the pacing is hundred times better in this game than Uncharted 4, but I do think the story is significantly weaker. Asav is just not that interesting of a villain for me and felt more in line with Badguyovich. You can tell Druckman was missing from this project, for better or worse.

I have to give a shoutout to the incredible work the artists did though. Some of the locations are draw droppingly stunning. Truly beautiful!

It is better than 4. It gets better as the game goes on
I just finished it and I completely agree. The pacing is so much better than 4. I honestly couldn't believe that I thought it wasn't better. I don't know how the hell they did this is such a short development period, but hats off to them.

Regarding TLL vs Hellblade...

Hellblade is a good game and overall, worth $30 digitally but the further I went into the game, the faster I wanted it to end. Not because it got worse or anything like that but I simply enjoyed the first half of the game more than the second half. Will say that the voice actress did an amazing job and the audio is superb. Visually, looks great. Combat is good, brutal and visceral but the locked camera during combat was a negative to me. Puzzles while innovative in regards to being connected to your surroundings got boring real fast because they're literally all the same. Story is okay but gets worse as the game plays out. Didn't like the "lore stones" despite collecting all 44 of them because these little story tidbits should simply be in the game. Overall, a 7/10 (good) for me.

TLL is simply a great game that basically combines all previous Uncharted games into one smaller package but man, it's fucking awesome. While I have it as 1B with Uncharted 2 being 1A as the series best, I may end up putting TLL as 1A simply because I enjoyed it overall a lot more and unlike the previous four games, there's no dragging or slow pacing issues. TLL gave me the most fun since Uncharted 2 and in some ways, even more so. Overall, a 9.5/10 (excellent) for me.

How long is the game, guys? How many chapters?

Took me 14 hours 55 minutes on the hard difficulty setting with NPC markings, hints and enemy detection turned off.

There's
nine
chapters in the game.

Ahh finished this earlier. Fucking marvelous game, and to me, better than even 4. When I got to the
train sequence
, my love for the game increased even more. Especially since it gave me flashbacks to the second Uncharted. I will say though, I prefer
games train sequence compared to 2. Blasphemy, I know.

Also I'll add, it was so nice not to have Drake here. I never realised until now how okay I am moving on from Drake. Drake has always been a good time, but I was ready to move on from him and Chloe and Nadine stand on their own completely, would love to see more of them. Oh and Asav was a great villain!

What an experience, and holy shit absolutely incredible to look at too. ND does it once again. I just kept thinking how TLOU 2 will be after this.

Reading the last couple of pages' impressions I think we can change the subtitle to 'officially better than Uncharted 4' :p

The last chapter is the best Uncharted chapter ever.

It has... everything. And it all works.

Can't believed they pulled this off.

you mean, exactly like the new lara croft? :) ...

Perfect example: Lost Legacy highlights the difference between similar plot points and motivations being executed in completely different ways due to solid writing instead of the horrific mess Tomb Raider made of the "follow your parents' legacy" trope.

Hooooly shit that last chapter. Nd could legit create a better indiana jones movie than lucas or speilberg rnow.
Dont regret paying a penny. That was satisfying as fuck.

Edit: 2nd favorite uc after 2. How the fuck did they make it in a year?

It is better than 4. It gets better as the game goes on

I agree with most that I think its better than 4 (as a game). Uncharted 4 could have use some edits (shortening the slow momentum eating bits) and still be as effective. TLL is pretty perfect in terms of its pacing/beats and highpoints. I finished it twice and thought it was better the second time too.

most people say they're done with drake but I think nathan is an amazing character. He was just so dour in 4 and the tone a tad too grounded. Nothing is preventing him from coming back if they lift the tone of his adventures. I do miss Nolan North's performance. If there's any in game performance for the ages, its NN as ND. absolutely perfect.

I just started survival mode, is it pairing me up with an npc every time? Same guy 3 times in a row and on treasure hunt levels he never collects any treasure

10 days after finishing it and I'm ready to say that this is my 2nd favorite Uncharted game after 2. I hope we get to continue Chloe's adventure in the future.

Yeah more games with Chloe and Nadine would be great, I actually like their chemisty. Especially with
Nadine throwing shade at Chloe for dating Nate. She was like "girl you can do better."
The game is also doing a very good job of humanizing Nadine.

Agreed. After Uncharted 4 I didn't think I could grow to like Nadine, now I want to see what's next for her.

Just finished chapter 4, which I loved. I usually hate big open spaces in games but here it was executed very well. The first three chapters were quite boring though. I hope you all are right saying it only gets better from here!

Nadine and Chloe have a girls trip to Iceland.
Also
"They're called Grey Langur's." "You're adorable, you're blushing."
Yuuup...Now I'm about to check Tumblr for fan art. Edit: Lol at fucking "Chlodine" Tumblr stays consistent at least.

Finished the game. It was great and better than a lot of other full priced AAA games out there.

BUT it is not the best Uncharted or even better than Uncharted 4 in my opinion. The lower budget kind of showed in some regards (like less setpieces). Not sure whether people are just in the honeymoon phase or my opinion just differs greatly.

Anyway, the ending chapter put a smile on my face as soon as I saw what was going to happen. The boss fight seemed to be the easiest of all Uncharted games.

My ranking:
UC2>UC4>UC3=UC1=Golden Abyss=Lost Legacy

Hope we will still keep getting more Uncharted and I am totally fine with mid tier budgeted (and priced) ones like Lost Legacy.

Just started it earlier and i'm part way through chapter 4. I'm already enjoying it more than 4 just cause the pacing seems better. Chloe and nadine make a great team and I love hearing their little quips back and forth. The environments are so damn beautiful and I love the all the Hindu mythology. Can't wait o dive back in again.

Finished it today, felt like more of the same to me, not better or worse than Uncharted 4. I think i just can't take Uncharted games anymore, everything feels like been there, done that...

I just finished chapter 4 earlier today. It's one of the largest chapters that I can recall, but it was highly enjoyable. My feelings match yours here. The exploration and the puzzles are top-notch here. This whole chapter is an excellent summary of the elements that make the Uncharted series so great.

Oh,it just gets better and better. Buckle in.

Buckled in and looking forward to what comes next!

Rented this game Friday. After blasting through it in 8.5 hours, I feel confident in saying I liked this game more than Uncharted 4.

The bad:
A lot of what it does right is remixes of ideas and setpieces from other Uncharted game, but it's brevity definitely helps alleviate that issue.

Chapter 4 was cool at first, but I feel like they could've made it a tad bit less predictable. As it is, you can predict where guards are gonna be way too easily. I wish that guards could patrol in their cars in this section, as it could've led to some sweet emergent gameplay with their car chase gameplay systems. Loved the side mission in that level though.

I also wish they could've extended chapter 2. The atmosphere in that section was top notch and made me want Naughty Dog to do a spy thriller game.

The good:

The relationship between Nadine and Chloe is fantastic. I thought their relationship worked 100x better than Nate and Sam in Uncharted 4, and the performances really sold it. Really want to see another game with them.

The puzzles were actually not humiliatingly easy this time around (in that, they actually existed). If Naughty Dog wants to continue to do bigger spaces, I would challenge them to create harder optional puzzles to fill those areas. Something really esoteric with a sweet reward would be awesome.

When all the gameplay systems synch together towards the end of the game, it felt like I was playing a movie, in the best way possible. It was incredible how smooth and fluid it all felt, even when I wasn't completely in control.

Really looking forward to The Last of Us Part 2 now.

That final sequence - spectacular. I have to say though, until uncharted completely reinvents itself, I think I'm done with this gameplay. Particularly the automatic platforming.

I loved it. Didn't really like 4. The sudden brother and the side lining of Elena in the first half really annoyed me.

This game is fantastic though. I love the friendship and the banter.

I don't think I can go back to a Drake game after this one.

The open world section felt like an experiment for what ND might do next(maybe after TLOU2). I think the Uncharted mechanics could serve well for an open world game but not Uncharted itself. What I mean by that is Uncharted feels like an action movie and how it's structured fits better with linear progression, so for a game to fit an open world more components of it's design need to be changed up for it.

Can't say I loved it or hated it, it was fine. As I've said it feels more like an experiment and not so much a feature. Was short enough that it didn't intrude on my time, didn't elevate it either.

I'm nearing the end. And so far I enjoy it more than U4, slightly below U2 for me. My second favorite and probably will stay as such when I'm done with it. Glad we finally got our Chloe game.

Just finished it. Omg! What a ride. Pacing and length was just right. And I loved the characters in this. Naughty Dog has talented everything. Everything fromstory, writing, art style, music and the game engine.

I want a stand alone game for Chloe now.

So, the only Uncharted game I played was Uncharted 4. I really liked Nadine in that.

How is she in this?
If you liked her in 4, you'll love her in this. Great character that they give you a lot more depth in to why she does what she does and who she is. Laura Bailey's performance is sublime and she's a great contrast to the way Chloe is.

The shooting sections are so fucking boring, it puts me off every time. It's a shame, because the rest of the game is great.

Glad seeing people loving this one more than UC4, it's definitely better in almost everything.

Sony need to put the series to rest though, we have closure for every characters of the series and I'm fine with waiting for the next generation to see what's next for the Uncharted series.
