Overwatch |OT10| That'll do pig, that'll do

Buffed Orisa is way better.

I second this. The faster fire rate and better shield allow me to get more kills while reasonably shielding choke points and the corners of objectives. A good Mercy or Ana who cares about pocketing me and I can beast a little with her.

I don't know, I'd say that big group rez's is what Mercy's known as and they changed that. They could tweak things around.

Switch around Turret and Tank? Make the Turret his Ult, with the shield from the alpha, headshots allowed. Let him run around as a tank in normal mode, shooting concussive grenades. Hell, let him roll up the sides of walls like Hanzo while in Tank mode. And maybe, just get rid of Recon mode and let his Tank mode have hit-scan and grenades.

I think some are expecting a game that Overwatch just won't be without a complete 2.0 do-over considering the current setup of 4 players made to set up the other 2. I'd prefer more characters be tuned like McCree than the likes of Genji or Tracer. McCree is just raw ability, but the other two have way too much leeway and derpy forgiveness in their kits, but he's a bit of an oddity and their MO is more slanted towards easily digestible, generosity in hit detection, and they've made more of an instanced MMO PVP scenario than a real class-based FPS.

But I do think they bungled their underestimation of DPS popularity. It's an FPS, so people naturally buy and play these to shoot people, but there's a constant problem of too many people wanting to do that in any given match despite the equal importance the other roles take up in slots.

Anyways, I just kind of wish there was more mechanical nuance to things so that character mechanics aren't immediately figured out and basic. Things like grapple slingshotting and slidehopping in Titanfall 2 aren't hard to learn, but they're outside of the basic uses for those abilities in that game, and once you start uncovering them they add whole new layers to the experience. Same with rocketjumping in Team Fortress 2. There really isn't an equivalence to that in Overwatch -- superjumping as Genji was sort of like that but more clearly exploit-y.

even then I still don't like her and only play orisa when I'm bored

that post someone made awhile ago here about getting ulted by a rein that just walked around the orisa shield was the type of shit that made people hate her is facts

Playing more deathmatch leads me to more stray thoughts

- It still saddens me that Ana doesn't get to nano herself, I quite enjoy using her in deathmatch and generally I start off quite well but as things go on and other characters start pumping out their ults guaranteed a kill or two or as a trump reversal card, with Ana you get left behind.
In general if the mode remains popular I'd love to see some ult tweaks just in this mode for the characters whose ults don't really mesh (Zen, Orisa, Ana and maybe the other supports sans Mercy whose Valkyrie should arrive soon)

- Current Junkrat can come across pretty braindead. It's funny how an extra mine can throw things out of whack quite noticeably. I always considered it a great move to begin with, a good way to reliably hit even the trickier foes like Genji and Tracer, create space and reach high spots. By doubling this up you kind of lose the whole careful usage of it and it just becomes something briefly spammable to surprising effect alongside his standard fire, allowing Junk to immediately blitz certain characters in a second at close range. This kinda snowballs on the other things changed in the past (no self damage on 'nades or tire), and the recent sped up tire.
It's tricky to say how I feel about this, on one hand this does make him a lot better but dare I say not in a way he should have been made better, more a kinda obnoxious way.

- For a dreaded one hit kill move, I'm finding Doomfist's knock into wall damage wildly inconsistent at times. Sometimes it feels like there's this strange momentum cancelling on some punch victims but that can't be right surely, I'm paranoid!

- Horizon is a poo map for this mode, I feel as if the back area where the defenders spawn should be the gated off part while the area from outside the attacker spawn should be opened to make a tighter map with more enclosed spaces and paths.

- I can't help but judge all the people who pick Hog in this mode as being SAFE N' SPINELESS. I'm sorry for the actual hog mains who I'm lumping in with the swathe of bandwagoners.

- Spawning into a hanzo dragon, come on!

What bothers me the most, is Mei is used more as a "staller" instead of "anti-flanker/defense hero" as she was meant to be. While I don't want all of these changes to happen, some of them would be great to help her viability, along with making the character more to the role she was designed for.

Mei really needs 2 changes:

-Iceblock has half the duration with double the healing
-Secondary fire has no damage falloff

I would at least start off with these before making any other changes.

Anyone else not able to get into Overwatch right now?

It just keeps telling me "Disconnected" when I try to sign in. It's not even framed as an error message or anything, it just says that.

PS4? Same with me. Even Spotify isn't connecting but I can see my friends list.

pretty much me right now. it was working earlier today.

Just had a crazy comeback in Team Deathmatch. O_O

It's Horizon map and my teammates open with Genji, Hanzo, and Junkrat so I think "oh boy here we go" and pick Lucio to try and keep them together. It doesn't work out so well, and when we're down 17-7 one of them leaves but an Orisa joins our side and now the teams both have a healer and a tank. We're still getting creamed though, because we're fighting in that hangar where everyone's still too spread out, so when the game spawns us on the opposite side of the map we box ourselves into that small room with two ground level entries and one stairwell to the second level. I kept expecting their Sombra to flank us, or for one of them to switch to Junkrat or Hanzo and wipe us out, but that didn't happen -- they just kept coming at us. Orisa keeps her shield up, we're covering the doorways, and I'm healing whenever things get too heated or booping intruders back outside. Suddenly we're only down by five kills, then four, and so on but all they need is one more and we're done for. It's 29-29 when I pop my Ultimate, and their Reinhart's shield is down and VICTORY!

That shit was like from one match. Not sure why that one story automatically made her seem bad. Most Rein players get their shields destroyed before they even get to me as Orisa. The increased bullet speed is great.

I remember papasmurf giving that example when the Orisa uses her halt ability to pull the Rein back when he goes past the shield to ult, I saw that happening in one of my games and it was beautiful seeing the enemy Rein just ulting her shield after being pulled backwards. The timing was perfect though, doesn't seem like it's something that can easily work most of the time

My streak theory continues. Tonight I'm losing over and over again. First loss, everyone chose dps. Second, winning, then a teammate randomly switched to widow and we lost. Third, a roadhog kept killing himself and another person went torb and spammed thanks. Fourth, two leavers. Wow.

AND THE FUCKING KICKER IS THAT ANYTIME I TRY TO REPORT SOMEONE IT SAYS "UNABLE TO SEND REPORT AT THIS TIME"

Today's game on ps4. 5-4. did the first half with a 4man. just goofed around on that. then the rest soloQ

somehow i managed to gain 50sr. lol.

currently at 2705.

The only character that I don't care about all that much (as far as personality is concerned) is Pharah. But as the slogan for this game goes, "There's a hero for everyone."

And I like Orisa just fine. I find her optimism to be quite endearing.

What a bizarre match. I'm playing comp, Gibraltar comes up, and we're on attack. 4 DPS, including a Torb, lock in. I go Rein because fuck it, last guy goes Zen. Things are looking pretty bleak. ... We stomp the other team. We reached the second checkpoint with 6 minutes on the clock and cleared the map with 3:30. On defense the other team is broken - 4 DPS with a Lucio and Sym. They don't hit the first checkpoint.

The experience was one of those surreal games in Overwatch where you utterly dominate but don't feel that you contributed anything substantial. That game on the far end of the scale of 'getting carried' where you get carried with a shitty team comp too. "This shouldn't happen in Diamond," I thought.

I noticed as the game was ending that the Tracer on our team (we had a Tracer) was the same player from a game I'd played earlier at Lijiang Tower where his play by himself turned almost every team fight around no matter our advantage and who I correctly speculated that he is a smurf. ... He complained there are allot of throwers at this level, but that hasn't been my experience.

Had a fuckin meltdown, removed all my friends from my friends list and I'm probably gonna uninstall the game. I'm so sick of gaining a certain amount and then losing that amount the next day omfg.

They goofed pretty hard just copy pasting their tank-dps-healer thing from their other games. I don't like the "holy trinity" in general, but the reason why it can work in mmos or mobas is because all characters share the same gameplay loop. They are mouse driven menu based games where you click on and use hotkeys to activate abilities while the underlying rpg system does the heavy lifting. In fact in many mobas/mmos the support and tank archetypes often have to use a variety of items and manage cooldowns under pressure while the dps characters are built around their auto attack. Getting good initiations with blink dagger as Axe or Lion in dota is far more skill based than slow walking at the enemy team as Wraith King for example. DPS characters in these RPG based games trade kill glory for simplicity.

In a fps however, the main gameplay loop is shooting at people. Meaning the guys who get the big kills are ALSO the ones who get the mechanical depth.

I guess the Blizzcon goody bag contents got revealed yesterday

Seems like their next Cute but Deadly minifigure series is dedicated to Overwatch, and there's a neat Eidgenossin Mercy backpack hanger

Will they confirm a skin for the digital ticket early or no? Missed out on Bastion last year. :/

Have you ever asked yourself what is your main motivation for playing comp? I'm not hating on comp, btw.

Took a 7 month OW break and just started playing again today. Did my placement matches and ended up in silver. Lost 6 out of 10. IDK if its the rank or did the game change? Because I had to solo heal or solo tank in a good 70%+ of my matches, in comp. Im slowly working my way up to gold.

People seem to not give a fuck about team composition anymore.

Dude, just take a break. A game shouldn't be causing you such grief.

Sweet. They used my favorite victory pose.

i did the same thing a while back. they weren't my friends, but i did remove them all. changed my icon, changed my battlenet tag, then logged off. i guess it was maybe a futile attempt of wiping the slate clean with overwatch comp and trying again. but i am heading down that same road again.

i eeked my way toward plat, thru poor comps, trolls, throwers, people with bad connections, premade who instalock dps, i somehow made platinum. lost 6 matches over 2 days then i was told i am gold again.
