Upcoming Vita Games (~200+ Upcoming games in ENGLISH) || 2017 Edition ||

It's probably about as complex as the average Exp drpg, maybe a little more so. As for difficulty, the only way you're getting any form of challenge is by playing it on the hardest difficulty.

If you're looking for something like DT or SoSC.....it's best to look elsewhere and start wishing we see DT2-2. I'd still say it's really enjoyable, just don't expect the world from it.

Still haven't decided if I'll get Mary Skelter, or at the very least not at release. So many vita games are coming out, that I'm just buying them in the hope that I'll eventually have time to play them. What's worse is most of these games tend to be super long too.

So there's a chance the DT2-2 will be localized?

It really depends on who would be willing to pick it up. I don't know if XSEED or NISA are interested, they may already have their hands full with other projects. Atlus localized the last one, but to my knowledge have shown no interest in picking up the sequel. I don't know how many have voiced concern over them not localizing the sequel but we continue to wait.

It's an Aquaplus game so it'd probably be Atlus or no one. Hopefully we get the game, although being a Vita exclusive lessens its chances somewhat.

Aquaplus is the most underrated japanese developer I've ever known. Everything they develop is pure gold and never get the recognition they deserve.

Well if a localization ever happens, we can look forward to some censorship.

I don't mind. It has come to a point where I don't care if there is censorship. I just want the game. I ain't a purist. lol. It's either censorship and we get a game, or no game at all.

Reviews2go's review of Mary Skelter really makes me want it. It sounds great, and I kinda want to support IFI for localizing it (and hope they grab Tokyo Clanpool too).

But September is such a busy month. Uff.

Figured I'd ask this question in here instead of posting a thread...

Outside of the two Nihon Falcom JRPGs Ys VIII and Tokyo Xanadu, are there any narrative-driven titles released on both Vita and PS4 where the PS4 version has "extra" content?

Don't care a lick about obvious performance discrepancies but story content is a big deal for me and the variance in content with Ys VIII caught be my surprise as I'd intended to grab it on Vita digitally tomorrow only to discover today the PS4 had more meat to go along with its potatoes.

The only times this ever seems to happen as far as I know (including those Falcom games) is when the PS4 gets late ports. I think Digimon Cyber Sleuth also had a situation somewhat like this?

Is Chaos;Child dated yet? That's likely the only one of those I'll grab day-1.

Not yet, but the release date should be announced in the next 1-2 weeks.

I don't think so specifically speaking, but this is usually done to justify reselling the late ports to any platform I believe.

Like Muramasa getting the DLC episodes when it was ported to Vita, or the complete overhaul of Odin Sphere on both platforms.

Unfortunately for Vita users though, it's happening in reverse this time around.

For what it's worth though, I think you might be missing out on story content less with Ys VIII. Unfortunately the TX eX+ additions seem pretty significant scenario wise.

My brother bought a Vita without me even saying a word to him about it!
He said he picked up P4G, Tearaway, Shovel Knight, and Dragon's Crown so I'll probably grab The Nonary Games for his birthday next month.

My brother got a Vita a few months after I did at launch, here's to brothers who also have a Vita!

I seriously hope we get Dungeon Travelers 2-2. Probably the best dungeon design on Vita in the first one, complexity wise. I'm hearing good things about Coven here, but don't know anything about it, so that too.

From what I've seen of the cgs, i'd say it's bound to happen. It likely won't be minor edits either with several of them, unlike 3/4 in DT2. You'll still get the usual crowd shouting from the rooftops at whatever they end up doing, most of which had no interest in the game to begin with and just want to cry about MUH CENSORSHIP.

I honestly couldn't care less if they went through and edited half the game, just as long as we get it. It has far and away the best designed dungeons and balance of any drpg on the system.

I've played DT2 and Mask of Deception and I agree they are an awesome developer. At the same time, they're the type of games that hardly sell (a DRPG and a VN), so its disappointing in that respect.

And then soon after we have BAW, C;C, SN6...

Don't forget XSEED's surprise localization announcement for the Evolution games coming sometime in the year.

XSEED pls!

We need more people at Atlus fighting for Vita.

Seems like japanese audio and french subtitles are not on the Vita cartridge for Ys VIII. At least on the EU version according to the backside of the standard edition.

Wow, totally missed that the Vita has it's own port of the game. Seems like your conclusion is in line with mine from the PS4 version. Mediocre at best.

Yeah, I've certainly played worse games but it's just kind of... there. Inoffensive and unexciting. Shame, I was expecting something slightly more unique from WipEout alumni (same way I felt about Switch Galaxy Ultra)

Since I'm bitten by the writing bug at the moment I've finished a new article looking at Konami's output on Vita:

https://kresnik258gaming.wordpress.com/2017/09/13/a-history-of-vita-games-spotlight-on-konami/

Thoughts? I started this one thinking they'd released more games for the handheld than they actually had lol. 2012 was good but after that...

I'm reading it right now, I think you should correct the part in which you say that MGS2 runs at 60 fps outdoor. I think you meant to say indoor.

Skelter doesn't track time, but I'd say 50+ hours easy. It's pretty much all I played during Irma weekend.

Drive Girls was closer to 15 hours.

It does actually, if you check the info on your save file. A lot of Vita games do this without people realizing. I'm currently at 15 hours in the Waterside district, chapter 5 I think. I'm just gonna list some things I like about the game:

- Well balanced difficulty, this coming from someone who is admittedly pretty bad at DRPGs though. It's easier than DT2 but not as easy as something like Ray Gigant
- Class change system that lets you change every ten levels and never locks you into a class. You can always learn/use a class' abilities after you unlock it once too which really lets you experiment
- Teleporters on each dungeon floor, and being able to save/return to town at any time
- I think the character art is pretty nice

Is it really worth it to de-level your characters? I don't want to grind that much, and it's not a system I usually engage with in DRPGs.

If you're counting White Album, then you have to count all of their Leaf VNs like To Heart.
Well, those too. I was considering their more recent titles, White Album 2 has a Vita port IIRC.

I'm having anime flashbacks right now... White Album is so bad, I just had to finish watching to see how far down the rabbit hole it would fall.

White Album 2 was excellent outside of the non-ending ending they introduced.....

I'd play either if they ever came west on Vita, but I'll just all them with SNAFU, Clannad, Little Busters, Grisaia, Rewrite, etc. It's never gonna happen

By the way, the Ys Vita version has been excellent so far!

It's not essential. Mostly it's for optimizing CP usage. I spent a lot of points on skills I never use, so I de-leveled to fix that. It doesn't take long to build characters back up, even from level 1.

The extra gains are more comparable to Etrian Odyssey than Disgaea. My biggest damage dealer Cinderella (Marshal > Destroyer) never de-leveled.

Didn't know about the save file timer. Thanks much.

One of my favourite SNK fighters now on my Vita...

SSVS seems like a really decent port on the Vita from the little I played so far, so glad its the uncensored version, I got lucky with the above cart (getting one of the original non modded ones) and can play the game on my Neo Geo, but I had to get the Vita port to support SNK, and just because its too damn convenient to play it on the go on my Vita. Still haven't got Windjammers yet though.

I'm quite liking Tokyo Xanadu as well, seems like a fun little action RPG. Somewhat predictable story but I am enjoying what I've played so far.

Looking forward to Mary Skelter. Just a week (and two days) left now... Nice to see it's getting good reviews, too. But I would've given it a try anyway, unless the game was absolutely unplayable. Gameplay is important, of course, but a game's art style can sell it on me and I think Mary Skelter looks absolutely fantastic.

Still had Dungeon Travelers 2 lying around, so playing that one for the moment. I'm having fun, but it can also be frustrating. Just completed chapter 4 and in the boss fights this chapter I relied more on RNG than skill. It's also kind of slow in introducing mechanics. I'm glad the game doesn't throw everything at you at once, but this slow pacing makes the the early-game dungeons a slog more than it needs to, I think.

I do enjoy the visuals, however. Yes, yes, fanservice ahoy, but some of the portraits and backgrounds convey a lot character.

I feel like the battery on my OLED is dying but I can't tell if it's that or just that the LCD's battery life has spoiled me.

I'm playing Ar no Surge at the moment and it lasts about 2 and a half hours of gameplay. If I put it into sleep most in between it lasts longer but I feel like it drains kinda quickly.

Not sure whether to just trade it in and get another LCD. I like the screen but prefer the convinience and everything else about the 2000.

just open it up and replace the battery in it, no point in downgrading to a lower quality Vita with a pee filter screen
