Project Cars 2 |OT| Buggy Racing At The Four Seasons

Is there any way to change your driver name?

Didn't notice until I was in the race that is has my last name as *******. Guess it found a character string it didn't like in there.

Xbox version is practically unplayable with G920.
Check this video:

https://youtu.be/CTivqZblL9w

When parked at the boxes, the wheel turns automatically all the way to the left or right and stays there, full FFB power holding it there.

Any car has a jerking left or right on straight, even at low speeds, even setting the FFB to zero.

Not enough Xbox One visuals look like a X360 port, G920 implementation is beyond a disaster. Really bummed, was super excited for this game, now feeling I wasted my $60.

Folks are discussing it on official forums:
http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?51460-FFB-problems-all-over-again!

A moderator said on the forums that "It will be fixed, WMD had no chance to test the game on console" testing on consoles was outsourced to a 3rd party. Apparently the game was not ready to be released on consoles.

I have no words... :(

It looks better then pc1 did, so saying it looks like a 360 port is a bit much.

But yeah there are some wheel issues. It reads my fanatec as a thrustmaster.

The left and right jerking I solved by setting the FFB gain to 50%

I also still cant figure out why I cant get the game feeling good at 900 degrees of rotation, it feels great at 540, but I dont know why I cant get it dialed in at 900 (had the same issue in pc1).

after playing Forza 7 demo this thing is an aliased mess on xbox. dynamic weather, HDr and time of day and creating any time or season you want is pretty awesome though. pretty ambitious title

good thing the X will be definitive console version cause it desperately needs it, may shelve this after a week or so to get a couple patches and Nov 7 and hope they don't drag ass with the X enhancements.

oh and awesome OT GHG

There is a problem with the wheel implementation, seems like it is not FFB related but controler reading related. Developers are working on it, WMD members stated on their forums that testing on consoles was outsourced and the firm did a terrible job. There are a lot of people complaining on the forums and several videos showing same issue.

The game looks terrible. Shadows are low LOD, textures on track and environment are very low, color palette is very cartoonish. Looking better than PC1 doesn't set the standard high at all.

Knowing SMS track on fixing controller issue on consoles for PC1, I'm seriously regretting buying this game today, especially with FM7 being released next week. It will most probably take months for they to fix the wheel settings on Xbox. Shame because the game per se seems to be awesome. But how good is a good game if controller issues make it unplayable? Refuse to play on controller. Last PC game I ever spend my money on.

EDIT: I tested setting Gain to 50%, doesn't change anything, issue completely present.
With car on boxes, the wheel turns 100% to the left and stays there. Even with the car at low speeds on a straight at 20-40MPH the wheel jerks left and right constantly. I'm really bummed, really wanted to play this game...

And hey, it looks like we have another game that forgets to move the audio from the dualshock to the headset if you're wearing one - in this case its the race engineer / spotter comments.

Been playing the whole time with the headset wondering why I was only getting subtitles and no audio.

C'mon SMS. Its 2017, and that's a launch game category of issue.

Roughly the size of a baaaaaarge
I've been getting race engineer audio but no spotter comments (inside, outside etc.) Is it a toggleable option? Also my driver repute on is F 14-something is that good or bad? It was at U before. Am I supposed to aim for a low number?

Rally cross is pretty fun, those cars have really short gears lol.

This 45 gig update is killing me on the X1.. it is taking forever, far longer than normal. Seems crazy to have a day one update that size...

I think that's what I'm going to do. Wait for X1X release and by then a few patches should be in place for all platforms.

PS4 Pro version holding up well? I play on a 1080p monitor, not a 4K display, to note.

I saw Karak/ACG’s review and Digital Foundry’s analysis. Karak’s review had very, very obvious problems with shadow rendering during some conditions, but I felt like DF didn’t really address it. DF was nice to see the framerate on PS4 Pro holding pretty damn close to its 60fps target, though. Was Karak’s review not indicative of the shadow problem across the board or something? Because I feel like that would’ve been a big standout problem in DF’s analysis, and that doesn’t seem to be the case, unless I’m misremembering (I watched both Karak’s review and DF while waking up from sleep on my phone, so my concentration wasn’t at its best).

I’m craving a racer right now and it doesn’t seem like Forza 7 is gonna run well on my laptop after all (I am getting an Xbox One X at launch in November, though, so I’ll get to it eventually).

the graphics hold up much better when the weather and lighting effects kick in. and Live track 3.0 is pretty cool as hell.

HDR, while not to Forza levels looks pretty good compared to SDR, so it's not a lost cause on Xbox S. plus controller works great this time and the racing is real and the customization level is out of this world

Sucks that the logitec seems to be borked on xbox. Luckily I was able to fix the issues I was having.

As far as the graphics.......I dont know, I was playing pc1 up until a week ago and I guess I just notice the improvement more because that game and its many issues were fresh in my memory.

How’s the game with gamepad?Playing first game with a gamepad was a nightmare.

Also why the back of the cars “shaking” since Shift 1.I can’t fully describe it but no other racing game does that.

what version of game are you on? it shows in the main career page but mine says 1.0.0.13 and I have not seen a patch.

game preloaded earlier in week and nothing afaik

How do you save edits to the HUD? I want to remove the track map and lap breakdown panels, and I select and toggle them off, but hitting save doesn't do anything.

Is this a bug?

I also can't seem to edit the time increments for practice and qualifying in the career mode. They're not in career settings, and before I'm on the track I only seem to have the option to skip practice or do the full 30 minutes.

i cant get HUD changes to save either ... on xbox

Some tracks look WAY better than others and weather effect are nice. Also some cars' dashboards/interiors are significantly better than others. I was playing on Monza with a 2013 Toyota 86 and that car and track are UGLY in this game. Moved to that California open track with the BAC and it looks another game. So apparently visuals may vary.

What wheel are you playing on?

On the G920 I have to drop FFB Gain to 10 or zero to be playable, meaning no FFB at all.

Controller is very good this time, huge improvement from PC1 @ launch.

I'm experiencing a lot of bugs on the game, e.g., when trying to save a setting to a new file, the console crashes. It's possible some or all bugs I'm experiencing are caused by my Xbone S running OS Preview Alpha 1710 (9/20 update).

I just updated to the 9/22 update, lets see if it improves anything bugwise...

Played for a few hours with a friend tonight. Had a great time despite starting out driving pretty good at first, but getting worse as the night went on. Not sure if it was because I was tired or what.

Game is beautiful and runs great on PC (VR). I'll be playing a lot of this game.

I REALLY want to like this game. But the strange handling, FFB, bugs and crashes at every turn make playing it an unbearable chore. This one goes in the junk pile right next to Dirt 4.

Back to Assetto Corsa and Dirt Rally while I await GT Sport.

You can go back to pits, or teleport to pits during practice session. If I understand correctly, you need to enable manual pitstop in the options to do that.

As for the game, it's pretty good, immersive, beautiful (especially in the rain).
Two major drawbacks:
1. FFB lacks front tire slip feel, it doesn't communicate wheel locking and understeering. The rest is ok. I use Fanatec CSW v1.
2. Content is very uneven, some cars are very good, some are total shit.

All in all I'm happy with it for now, good to drive in VR for great immersion.

Also nice OT!

Nice one bruv, top notch OT.

I want to get some dialog going about the inconsistencies of the tyre physics, especially in inclement conditions.

Take the NSX for example, in the wet or snow, that thing is lethal, despite having snow tyres and assists on.

Then take the civic type r in the same conditions and same tyre type, and it handles like it's on rails.

I know they are very different cars, but the type r is no slouch.

I also feel, in some cars, some weird disconnect between the front and rear wheels, it's almost like the car isn't connected in the middle, and there is this way overdone torque steer affect that's mean it's really hard to keep some cars in a straight line under power.

Then there s that vintage indy thing, there is an odd sensation when it looses grip, and snaps back and regains grip, it all feels very canned, and does it in the exact same way no matter how you do it.

Then there are the crashes....... damn, so many crashes on my PS4.

In 50 hours my game never crashed... maybe you need to rebuild the console database or something like this?

About IA... yeah, sometimes other pilots act strangely, but in most of the cases the IA is really really good in my opinion.

Remember that if you want they to change the set up of their cars accordly with the tarmac considtion you need to put the difficulty slider over 85% if I remember well.

No crashes to report here on my PS4 Pro *knock on wood*

But I think I'm in love with the Knockhill International Circuit - its a nice little circuit that you get introduced to in one of the junior leagues. Lots of twisty corners and camber, nice elevation changes, a couple completely blind corners including the chicane, and man did I have to work to come to terms with that final sharp ass uphill hairpin. Its a small, fast track, but there's a lot packed into it.

Yep rebuilding the database should definitely help. In Project CARS 1 my game has suddenly started crashing extensively after installing one of the patches and rebuilding the database solved the problem completely.

Database being rebuilt.

In other news, I would how people are doing on the community event with the GTR on Sugo in the rain.

On a pad.

Let's see your times! I can't get anywhere near the leaderboards!!!!

Knockhill with the Lotus Climax is super fun.

AI inconsistency is really annoying. It's hard to know where to set the difficulty as it seems to have such a different effect depending on the car type/motorsport.

I play on a fairly low level. I'm not brilliant at racing, but I enjoy a convincing driving experience. So drive with real assists, manual gears and no driving line. But the AI is set quite low.

Still in some races the AI is still way faster than me. But then when I was playing 1960s F1 cars they were so slow at the same setting it wasn't even a fair race.

Try turning on all the damages... it's an aanother variable that can change dramatically your experience with ia

Hows the game with a controller on console? Any settings need to be changed?
I'm going to go back on my previous comments about it being almost as good as AC, it's not.

Its better than pc1, but it still needs a lot of tweaking, and it's next to impossible to be competitive on events like the current community event on Sugo in the wet.

How's online? Does the system really "enforce" fair play? This is my nr. 1 concern in a racing game, because the online component is basically worthless when playing with strangers because everybody acts like a moron.

Seriously, watching and feeling the transition from a dry track in decent weather to a softly snowing ice-slicked one as you work your way through several laps is one of the greatest things ever. Its a smooth, evolving process that is absolutely game-changing.

Looking forward to experimenting with some of the other possible transitions and combinations.

Along the lines of the 'authentic' assists option, where you only get the assists the car actually has, it'd be cool to have a 'random authentic' setting for weather as well. Not that it isn't a beautiful thing to be able to set whatever options you want anywhere - it so is - but limiting those options to what would be reasonable to expect for a track would also be a nice touch. Unless its there already and I missed it.

I was doing the Ginetta career series and at Silverstone it was raining hard (because of course it would be). I pulled away from the pack and as the race went on it was getting wetter and wetter and my laps times were dropping accordingly. Especially wet on the back straight with standing water all over the place.
Field is catching me up, almost lost it a couple times, puddles everywhere. Stressful race but great stuff with the evolving track :)

I was talking about pCARS1 and how this will probably still be the case and also it's only on some shorter layouts, the ones that don't have pits nearby like Nürburgring Müllenbach for example. You need to restart which resets ToD and weather. I think Kart circuits as well, I think.

I had a similar experience in the same league... and what a wonderfull race. The last two laps have been a nightmare, aquaplaning everywhere and the others cars constantly on my rear mirror. Awesome.

Btw, the Ginetta it's a very funny car to drive.

The best VR racing game, period. The fact that you can navigate all the menu with the wheel/controller while using the headset makes it way better then Assetto Corsa in that regard. Runs great also with my GTX1080 with all maxed except reflections and SS 1.5

When I change my setup from loose to the stable one, I'm not sure this is effective, because when I re-enter the tuning setup it again shows "loose".
Is this a bug?

I didn't play the game during the development nearly as actively as the first one (since that sort of spoiled the launch experience for me and I wanted to properly immerse myself in the career after the launch this time), but holy moly if the atmosphere and feel of the game isn't amazing. Having just got my H-shifter working again, driving through different seasons and just taking in the atmosphere and waggling the tail a bit in the corners is such an amazing feel.

Consistency is also so much better than in the first game, but with such a higher scope it still also does feel like the developers took on too much work for the resources available. Snow on normal tires (on a normal FWD car for example) either feels a bit buggy or simply way too slippery, and certain features like the photo mode just a feel crude even if they more than do their job still. I also would've liked to see a few more road cars from manufacturers like Ferrari and Lamborghini (since I really enjoy cars like the 288 GTO), but for a racing game it's hard to really criticize that too much.

Performance seems pretty good with my i920/GTX 1060, but haven't found the time to test it out with a friend's Oculus yet.

Everyone has a safety rating that goes up or down depending on how often you crash. Hosts can open lobbies where drivers must have a minimum rating to join.

Snow handling should be tricky. I've driven enough on real snow to know that.

But it seems a bit broken on some cars. Being almost impossible even at slow speeds.

You can shoot me down, but I am not convinced the tyre physics are hugely improved over Pc1, they still exhibit some of the issues that the first one had, one of the biggest is how quickly grip returns to the tyre once it's lost, so it still has that nasty snappy feel of the first one.

Playing AC and PC2 back to back really highlights it, it's like night and day, AC is plyable and linear, PC2 is snappy and stiff.
