Damn. I was hoping for the multiple protagonist setup again. And I had faint hopes of one of them being female.

But this looks ok. Trailer didn't wow me. But it's Rockstar so I know it's gonna be great.

Watched the trailer again, the part where the guy is on the ground and Arthur talking to him, that doesn't look nearly as good as the other cutscenes. So this seems more like a conversation ingame between the two.

I have no doubts this weird blurry shizzle will be gone by release.

In terms of controls, yeah, it was overly basic and not super responsive. However, similar to Max Payne 3, they absolutely nailed the shooting and feedback of the gunplay. From start to finish, getting into gun fights in RDR was a great deal of fun.

GTAV was a huge step back in general when it came to the shooting. Hopefully Rockstar doesn't just built off of that game and call it a day.

I agree, tho I dont think GTA5 gunplay is bad.

Part of the issue for the trailer is the setup, it feels very much like RDR. You playing as yet another member of Dutch's gang who most likely "turns" on the gang and Dutch or he does something that makes you want to take revenge against him.

Then the fact that you are playing as yet another tough talking white guy.

There were sooooooo many possibilities for characters in a new Red Dead game.

They could have put you in task of playing as a Native American or someone with a vastly different background then John Marston, but instead they played it really really safe and from this trailer at least, he feels a lot like Marston as far as his character goes (that we see from the trailer at least).

This game will have multiple playable characters, and all of them were shown in this trailer. I don't have a source for this, just gut feeling.

I'm still excited but Morgan looks too clean cut to me, like a cowboy film from the early days. Where is my rugged boy John with scars and messy hair

I think Morgan is just one of the 3 playable characters. He's more of a John Marston type and the other two will be more unique.

Not sure how I feel about the protag. John Marston was an asshole, but at least he was a likeable and charismatic asshole. This guy just has "douchebag I don't care about" written all over him. I'm hoping this just some red herring, and we'll end up playing as someone else. I really hope Rockstar takes this attempt at a Western more seriously instead of doing their usual masturbatory satire and "world of assholes" type narrative.

Still, the game looks great! Not sure why everyone is suddenly comparing the graphics of this to more closed off and 1/10 as ambitious games in terms of openworldness. The game looks great, but the back and forth between in game and prerendered cutscene is a bit jarring.

I mean, it wasn't really unique. The antihero in westerns is pretty much par.

But regardless, it was fantastic.

I would even say we haven't seen the other two yet.

Remember the leaked concept art, i strongly believe one of the other two playable characters will be a native american.

This game looks Uncharted 4 levels of awesome graphically
GTA5 is one of my top 3 games of all time, never played Red Dead Redemption, but will pick this up as soon as possible

It's starting to seem doubtful man. The description talks about Arthur and Dutch's gang. So unless that lady or some of the other characters are part of that gang and in that case playable, I doubt it.

But that's fine, as long as Arthur is interesting and his story too.

Yeah that's because this trailer focuses on Arthur.

What if what we've seen so far of the world is only just Arthur's region and the other two will be completely different? just a gut feeling.

I don't think they created this very smooth and seamless character switching system just for one game. I think it will be in RDR2 too.

Man, I'm either really hopeful that there's only a single protagonist this time, or that they've managed to come up with a story that ends up being more cohesive with the multiple-protagonist setup. Can't wait until we get a more in-depth look at the game.

Looks good, though my concern is that there isn't a non "I'm a western gruff archetype" as if that's the only personality from the era. I'm still excited though I wished they mixed it up a bit.

Give me an Al Swearengen type or something to play as.

Yup. I truly believe we will get a Native American and a woman. (Likely the woman shown in the trailer). Also, there was a Native Ametican in this trailer, he's wearing blue garbs, with native looking jewrlry.

Hmmm you do make some good points. I was fully expecting multiple characters. Hell after that debut trailer I actually expected that whole gang playable, lol.

Right now for me it's a bit of a double edged sword. On one hand I can't wait to see what the other characters could be like, especially if Arthur may turn out to be not so interesting but we can't tell yet. On the other I am fine with a story solely focused on one character.

It worked fine in GTA V but looking back at it I'm not the biggest fan of the feature. But who knows, maybe RDR2 can be much better with it. But it's entirely possible that another trailer will feature a different character and that for now they're just keeping it a secret. I wouldn't mind if they give us more updates from now on.

But I see where you're coming from, in a way you can show and do a lot more if you have multiple protagonists. I mean imagine playing as a Native American, a totally different side and view. I was gonna say he could be working against Arthur but we see them being friendly to each other in the trailer.

I'd feel safe betting that the Native American on the cover(like the same one in the trailer) is playable, and probably the female. Though I'm curious why she's not on the cover, unless that's a deliberate misdirection.

To wrap everything back together for everyone. A few months ago many voice actor profiles were found and linked to the VO's of the first game, who are back to reprise their roles. Three were found of particular interest, I'm pretty sure now, after the trailer, that we've found our three protags.

Roger Smith is playing Arthur Morgan.

Noshir Dalal is rumored to play a currently unamed Native American, who was likely seen in the trailer, he was also in Fallout 4 for a voice comparison(funny enough the PC in the video is named Dutch lol). It sounds like him(no doubt), and looks like him to a degree, imo.

Cali Moore is playing an unnamed female, who is very likely the blond in the trailer. Looks like her(that nose dip), but she's a pretty unknown actress so sound comparison is difficult. With the particular interest put on her in the trailer, it seems likely that she's a protag too.

Nice find man. But it's still perfectly possible that these voices are just for characters that aren't playable as well.

Whoa this is amazing if true. I really hope the Native American man and the Blonde haired girl are part of the multiple protagonist set up. It would be quite a different pace with these two also involved !

Horizon 0, Uncharted, FF15, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed Origins. (some aren't third party, but it shouldn't matter).
The graphic on this game is maybe even or maybe even less impressive than MGSV's graphics.

I am not saying this game is ugly, but it def looks like an entry level PS4 graphic.

Eh...the story looks rather nonsensical and the trailer made it quite difficult to follow what it's supposed to be about on the initial viewing. I'm still excited for this game but i'm definitely not expecting them to match Red Dead Redemption's storytelling.
