Bluehole in talks with Sony about bringing PUBG to PS4 after XB1 launch

Its a couple days old, but I didnt found a thread with the search. Close if old

Info comes from a Bloomberg interview with Brendan Green and BlueHole founder Chang Byung-gyu

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ey-from-welfare-to-world-s-hottest-video-game

Chang says his company has had talks with all of the major console companies about bringing PUBG to a broader audience. Microsoft Corp. will launch the title exclusively on Xbox later this year. Bluehole is in talks with Sony about introducing a version for the PlayStation after that.

Interesting that they mention having talks with all the major companies, but only name PlayStation right now

Switch version could be coming too?

Of course.

I have a feeling the battle royale genre will be a bit more packed by the time the PS4 version finally drops, though.

Good luck. It's gonna take some time. Unless Tencent invests some serious money into the game, it'll take a while before the new PUBG Corp spinoff subsidiary is able to generate tons of revenue to fill out their team.

Or Sony could invest a ton of money, resources, and manpower into the port like Microsoft did...but I don't see Sony caring as much as Microsoft.

I hope someone (Looking at you Jason Schreier) can get the full story of Bluehole and PUBG. Would make a great read

Man Fortnite got them to openly talk about PS4 version huh?

I wonder if they have any deal with MS regarding PUBG launching there first. Those contracts almost always prevents them from talking about launching on a competing console until after launch or a certain period of time.

Least surprising news ever.
It was kind in a 'schrodinger's exclusive' place, wherein everybody and their grandma knew it was coming but they couldn't talk about it openly.

Surprised they're talking about it so soon - it's Rise of the Tomb Raider all over again. At least Capcom managed to keep their exclusivity window secret.

Awesome. More battle royale, the better. But they need to do bug testing pronto. I've been watching vids of gameplay and the ways I seen people die due to the jank is insane. I mean the game looks fun and I know I'll enjoy it, but man, the jank. And it's not a so bad it's good deal, it's so bad I'm gonna wait til the bugs are ironed ou-oh who am I kidding, I'm getting this day one.

Man they must be shook. I am shocked their ms contract doesn't have an NDA about other versions until after the Xbox version launched

The biggest question remains the same : how long the Microsoft partnership will prevent the game to be announced/released on PS4. We know for sure PUBG won't come anywhere else than Xbox One in 2017 and that Bluehole will wait for the game to be out of early access before coming to PlayStation.

The question is whether the game can be out on PS4 as soon as it's complete (let's say Q1/Q2 2018) or if, in Microsoft fashion (RoTR, Dead Rising 4) they locked a one year exclusivity. In that case PUBG won't see the PS4 before november/december 2018.

(By the way, the most streamed game yesterday night on PS4 was Fortnite Battle Royale)

Fortnite got Bluehole SHOOK. But seriously, more platforms is never a bad thing. Hopefully the competition that's coming encourages Bluehole to clean up some of the jank in the game.

I would hope with the murky wording they were using, no one expected this to be a long term exclusive. Will still sell massive on both platforms.

Why at the bolded? Playstation has early access games, I think the Publisher just have to release a physical disc also

I don't think they are shook, but I think they realize how stupid it is to play coy about this like they were doing earlier.
