With a 1070 can I play at 100hz, or is the game locked at 60.

Should I downsample 4k to 1080?

I will be playing coop with a dude in 30 mins and I want no hiccups haha

There was someone who was playing at 144hz a couple of pages back.

There is no point in downsampling. All of the art was mastered for 1080p, so you'll be upscaling the image to 4k then downsampling back to 1080p.

I quit games 5 years ago after NeoGAF used to be a standard part of my day. The industry made me too sad, and some of my best NeoGAF friends had left.

I just jumped back into what I missed, and I made this the 1st 2017 game I'll play.

I don't see anything topping it this year, and it's not even because it panders to my Fleischer and Treasure adoration. It's just an incredibly well-designed game.

My girlfriend has played 1 hour of video games in her life, and even she's enjoying constantly dying when it feels this good to play.

Hey, everybody! And thank you, Studio MDHR. It feels great to be back.

I remember you, you wrote good posts. I hope you enjoy the game :)

Not port begging or anything, but what are the chances of this releasing on switch ? If zero, then I will just get it now

The devs said that as far as consoles go, they won't ever launch for anything besides Xbox One because MS helped them with funding

I could be wrong, though.

Ok this is how shit i am at this game.

I have already defeated the blue ball boss on simple, but it takes me 20-30+ tries to finish him on regular with after i have done some upgrades as well. I will never finish this game right?

I feel that way too. I've temporarily given up on normal, which is too bad given that I'd be missing out on certain animation loops.

Just give me a grandpa mode that increases hitpoints. :/

found a big glitch. died when he was scene transitioning and now im stuck like this, cant pause or anything lol

I'm reading that there's no framerate cap on PC.

If so I might have to jump in a bit earlier than I expected. Game looks absolutely stunning.

None. Immediately maxed out my monitor's refresh rate.

Anyways, is there any reason not to hold down the fire button the entire time? That may be my only early criticism early on... It's almost as if just save me the thumb cramp and have and auto fire option.

Alright friends, just bought on XB1. Can't wait for the boss rush excitement to consume me....

.....boo! An 11 GB download! Guess I'm just used to super small Switch file sizes.

Even 4 HP and no way to regain HP during the fights are way too low for shitty players like me that gets hit waay too much.

I find the invisible dash thing to be pretty useful at least.

But yeah, I tend to make dumb mistakes a lot of times at the start that just throws the rest of the fight off, so it might as well just reset after the first hit. >_>

Is this game way too tough for a 7-year-old to have fun playing coop?

I don't mind pulling the team...But my oldest daughter and I like playing old arcade games like Simpsons, X Men, etc....She's pretty decent with a controller, but just not sure about this one...Might get either way for myself.

hear hear, same here. Has happened 100s of times so far that i might as well restart after getting hit at the start.

Strangely had no big issues with
the Baron, genie or the clown
but I had a real big headache with the
coo coo clock bird. The way you have to dodge the split eggs, the birds with the nails, the multi feathers and the last phase with the pills and garbage flying around and the heart shooting bullets, that boss is a test of dexterity that frustrated me for quite some time

Yeah, even on world 1 i have a hard time, i only beat 3 bosses so far with many many deaths. I guess i was never good at this kind or game. That means i will probably have to use cheat engine or something like that later on to, at least, see the rest of the content.

I feel the same way, after getting to World 2 it has gotten more exhausting to play than enjoying personally and i just fail anyway.. :p This is not a relaxing game.

I really really want to play the game to it's fullest but i am way too bad. A grandpa mode for slow reaction players with like 15 HP or so would be neat.. :p

Yeah, the high difficulty level is a bit baffling tbh. I've beaten a few bosses and I'm still enjoying it, I'm sure I'll keep chipping away at it, but I don't see that it would be any less fun were it a bit easier, and it would definitely be a lot more welcoming. It's definitely tougher than the sort of arcade titles it draws from, I guess because stages are short and it saves so it can get away with it.

There are also a lot of buttons to keep track of compared to other games in the genre.

Try it out, you can carry fairly well in coop. If she gets frustrated, then you know you can move on.

How am I supposed to get a pacifist on forest follies? I cant seem to get past the acorn machine no matter what. Ive even tried parrying off a mushroom shot and dashing over it.

After 40 tries on that boss on regular difficulty i throw in the towel and realize i wont finish it. I will just play as long as i can on simple, my brain is too "slow" at games like these.

It's okay 😉

this game is brutal and destroys every last confidence I had as far as my gaming skills go

Definitely worth all the waiting.

Just finished world one. The difficulty is perfect for me.

Congratulations to the devs for getting this out there. Hope it's a big success for them.

So is this really difficult even on the easy setting?

I would like to play this, but I'm reading a lot of posts now from people saying it's too difficult or frustrating which is putting me off, I don't want to put my money down on something that's going to make me angry.

Is anyone else having issues downloading the game from Windows Store?

I was getting an error code and, after "fixing that," now it is just perpetually stuck on "Download..." but not actually downloading shit

Depends on your skill level in games like these. I would say it's quite difficult on simple setting. Some people in here thinks its an "easy" game on regular mode, but they are likely insane gamers.

I haven't found an easy setting. I mean there's 'simple' on some bosses but not easy.

It's sort of frustrating and sort of not. Basically you die on every level lots of times but you'll eventually make it through. Depends whether you find that sort of thing fun.

Also most 'levels' are boss fights, apparently. So it's about learning their patterns etc, trial and error stuff.

Easy mode apparently won't count the bosses as beaten and thus won't allow you to move past the first world.

Normal mode starts really manageable but ramps up fairly fast by world two, with ten-ish minute long bosses that have 4/5 phases and you have to beat them with 3-4 mistakes max. It's not impossibly hard by any means, but the way you progress through each phase little by little by dying and replaying it until you have the pattern down will definitely be frustrating for some.

Cheers for your replies guys, I think I'll buy Golf Story first and maybe consider this afterwards, or maybe watch all the boss fights on YouTube instead 🤷

Haven't read through the whole thread but can anyone verify the difficulty level of the tutorial. I want to purchase this game but I am nervous I won't get to the first level.

I've already purchased

The "simple" setting doesn't give the souls though. So i don't know what kind of progress you can do this way. Also, from what i gather, it doesn't make the boss easier, it removes his last phase (at least that's how it worked on one boss i tried). That means you miss some cool animations and designs, which is the main draw of the game.

I would prefer a standard easier mode, like a couple of hits more for the player and a little less HP for the bosses. This way you aren't missing anything apart from the higher ranks and the game is still challenging enough i believe.

God, this thing is beautiful. And it feels great. Reminds me of Ori in that they seriously nailed the gamefeel despite how lush it looks. Also, currently on World 3 and haven't had a game over... not nearly as hard as Games Journalist Twitter's making it out to be, which is frustrating.

You haven't died once and are on world 3?
