What's the "one new thing" Nintendo could add to the N64 Mini (like Star Fox 2) ?

64DD F-Zero is the obvious choice.

I would buy it for that alone.

N64DD games like Mario Artist and F-Zero Expansion Kit
Localized versions of Animal Crossing and Doshin the Giant (based on GC releases).
Zelda Master Quest
Banjo Kazooie and Tooie with Stop n Swop

The others are a bit pipe dreamy but Master Quest and maybe the DD games I can see since they already exist.

Sin and Punishment would be an easy but cool one too.

Edit - Ooh, here'd be a fun one...

Compatibility with a GameBoy Classic for Pokemon Stadium.

Of course, this would be a dream come true.

F-Zero X expansion is the most realistic option.

Incomplete games and those that require a peripheral wouldn't be worth it in Nintendo's eyes. Pretty sure that Dinosaur Planet would be owned by Microsoft anyway.

I'm kind of struggling to think of 15-20 games that would even be included in an N64 mini. A fair amount of its more popular titles are either owned by Microsoft or are in licensing hell.

Can't see them adding a completely new game unlrss it's the F-Zero expansion.

However, I could see something like "and for the first time in decades, you can play Banjo-Kazooie on Nintendo".

They could throw us a camera feature to use faces in multiplayer games for Goldeneye (wasn't this gonna be in but then scrapped with the Gameboy camera? Or was this just Perfect Dark?)

Let's see

Mario 64
Ocarina of Time
Majoras Mask
Pilotwings 64
Pokémon Snap
Pokémon Puzzle League
Super Smash Bros.
Kirby 64
Mario Party 2 or 3
F-Zero X
Sin and Punishment
Mario Kart 64
Yoshi's Story
Mario Tennis
Donkey Kong 64(I know Rare but it is on the Virtual Console plus they got DKC for the SNES classic)

Plus a few third party's like Bomberman I think they could make it work.

I just want it to have a reasonable amount of games.

Master Quest would be the only thing I'd actually want. If we get a real unreleased thing I'd be happy but it wouldn't be why I buy it (unless it's rad).

That "Other" version of Zelda. Not the Master Quest and not the on that become Majora's Mask. I vaguely remember another game that was unfinished, might be mistaken.

edit:
It was called "URA Zelda" and was like a remix planned for the 64DD.

URA Zelda more or less became OoT Master Quest. That said, if an N64 mini does happen, I'll take Master Quest as the plus one.

I think Sin & Punishment would definitely be in. Nintendo's already released the game on VC so it's not like it would be unprecedented.

But yeah, as others have said, the F-Zero X Expansion Set is basically the one thing that never came out here that I can see them adding to a N64 Classic. SimCity 64 would require too much localization for something so niche, Mario Artist requires a mouse, and I just don't think enough people care about Doshin the Giant to push it like a Starfox 2-style bonus.

I could also see them bundling Master Quest with OoT.

What was that 'cabbage' game Miyamoto was working on for 64DD? Or maybe that morphed into something else we eventually got...

I think their "big get" will be some Rare stuff like Banjo Kazooie and maybe Perfect Dark to scratch the Goldeneye itch.

That friggin' Robotech game. I don't care that it doesn't exist, make a new one and tell me it's the old one. I need closure.

I control+F "Robotech" as soon as I opened this topic, thank you for bringing this up. This game was promising to be the No Man's Sky of the N64 generation, it's a wonder it never came out. The bullshots were mindblowing at the time.

I mean it's not hard at all. Go to the Wii eshop or Wii U eshop and you can find 15 N64 games they would use.

N64DD stuff and OoT Master Quest are the only things I can see them including.

Also maybe having the games run at a good framerate.
Master quest is already released tho.

There's def some games I'd be interested that never made it to the west like the giant game.

Agreed! That and Perfect Dark would be amazing!

Online PD with improved performance and the original controllers would be killer

Availability seems to be the issue with these Mini series though, so I'm not sure how large a number of online users there would be in reality.

Online play. That's it. Online play for every single multiplayer game they put in the thing.

Do the same for the GameCube mini, too.

I don't think Nintendo can put out a new improved version of PD without licensing it from MS. It was the same issue MS had trying to put out an HD version of Goldeneye. A port of the XBLA version would be amazing value though.

Well there's just about 20 games on both. Yeah I guess they could make it work. Nothing too fillerish either. The closest would probably Pokemon Puzzle League, but people would provably want that due to it just being Panel de Pon.

I don't the list is nearly as impressive compared to the SNES mini though.

I'd be up for some of the 64DD stuff! Especially that F-Zero one.

I'd be interested in Animal Forest too, but considering how the Animal Crossing games always have an incredible amount of text to localise, I won't blame them if they didn't bother with this one.

Spacestation Silicon Valley with that god damned souvenir bug fixed.

What, it's important to me :(

Actually genuinely curious where the code for SSSV and other former DMA Design games would be now, still with Rockstar North?

Why are people suggesting online? Never going to happen in one of these minis, they want the costs to stay low. They're not going to start adding wifi hardware, or re-writing game code to add online play.

F-zero x dd stuff is really the only thing that makes sense. Everything else has been widely available or probably was never far enough in development to warrant releasing

Edit: and even without rare an n64 mini still can get a good line up

Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
Mario Party 2 or 3
Paper Mario
Pokemon Snap
Pokemon Puzzle League
Kirby 64 Crystal Shards
Yoshi's Story
F-Zero X (with dd expansion)
Castlevania 64 or it's sequel
Bomberman 64
Super Smash Bros
Pilot Wings 64
Excite Bike 64
Mega Man 64
Zelda OoT/Master Quest
Zelda MM
Star Fox 64
Sin and Punishment
Mario Golf
Mario Tennis

That's over 20 right there, curate out a few of the meh titles like pilotwings 64 and castlevania 64 and you can easily make a 15 or 20 game library of n64 games.
