Yeah, grass looks better in F5, the lighting in F5 makes it pop even more. It looks best for sure..

They have lowered even the poly of the tires on the side of the track, when you see them closely now they have clearly a lot of edges now.

That's what I've been saying, you want dynamic weather, you want better reflections, you want 4k or 1080p(XB1) at locked 60fps, then it means that some compromises will have to be made....Everything comes at a price, since no piece of hardware has infinite power...especially the base hardware from which this is derived.

Yea looks like Xbox One X and pc have higher poly models
How do you know XBONEX has higher poly models? Do you have some screens showing that?

In any case, it seems F6 tires are still higher poly than F7 PC ultra, they're a bit rounder, still some edges on F7 tires on ultra. I'm also seeing that the road is wet on that PC ultra pic and yet the tires don't look wet. So those little details..aka ATD...I guess all in all, just the compromises which had to be made....

The tires are the same between F7 PC and F6, it's simply that it's easier to notice the edges because of the colour of the F7 ones.

it is really disagreeable during the replay in the rain in forza 7 or also the snow that is even more visible in PC2 than the weather conditions are "around the point of view" (of the camera) within a radius of 3 meters and not not volumetric in all the space of the game .. it just jumped at my eyes :/ it is all the more visible on large zoom

PC2 ..

[too many people quoting the gif, redacted]

Something seems off about that clip, do you have the original source? Road surface reflections of both the vehicle and trees look different from what I'm seeing everywhere else on that track, which makes me wonder about the settings:

This looks really weird, it gives the impression that it's only raining just in front of the first car/camera and when the car drives past and the camera faces the back, just infront of the camera still.....You get a feeling that the cars beyond the one closer to the camera are not getting wet or raindrops.....In essence, I don't get the visual of raindrops on the cars/environments further away from the camera...aka..backgrounds..

Shouldn't the rain-downpour effect persist throughout the length and breadth of the field of view? Accentuating a 3D raindrop effect with every camera loop?

You boring nit-picking dullards. Think of it like this. The rain particles in the immediate foreground are highlighted and lit in a slightly exaggerated fashion in the replay, especially when the camera is so obviously zoomed in before it pans right. All other drops are so far out of scope to be deemed insignificant. You know, because visual effects and stuff. Wet road, wet cars, windscreen wipers going are the other indications that it is meant to be raining.

Or are you seriously complaining that Forza isn't simulating millions of individual drops actually falling from the sky with real time physics? That wouldn't surprise me.

This thread will be fun.

It's not rain, just a simulation of Forza through the eyes of a hardcore GT fan who isn't getting their 7.

Just now popping into this thread and these comparison shots are interesting. I've been playing the game a bit and I haven't been impressed with the visuals once since firing it up. There is a lot that appears to be severely downgraded when compared to F5 and F6 on Xbox One, particularly the trackside detail (WTF at all of the 2D trees?) as well as even the car-browsing/garage area. Everything looks much more bland than I remember Forza games looking.

It's very strange, and hard to put a finger on why. The "garage" area in FM6 was beautiful... great lighting, it really showed off all the cars well. What we have in FM7 is stale, it makes the cars look like they are all matte or something. Very strange.

I always thought this section of Maple Valley was awesome, they totally took out what made it cool away though.

100% agreed

That is an embarrassingly bad downgrade, all the 2D trees are p-bad and no longer over hang the track. It doesn't feel like you are diving into a forest anymore. Even that horrible contemporary looking bridge feels out of place. The windmills, stands instead of tents, missing stone wall, all the lame Forza 7 and Xbox advertising helps kill that more natural feel of the original Maple Valley. Less human construction, more nature please.

I loved Maple Valley but that is heart breaking.

The leaves and fog are nice I guess.

The bad lighting and neon colored trees in Forza 4 over the obvious god rays of Forza 7? Gimme a break.

Also, need some more 8k shots.

At least label the images or something.
The one with no grass is GT Sport
The one with lots of grass is PCars 2
The one with small patches of grass is FM7
There are tons of other differences lol. But the grass is a pretty consistent differentiator.

So much detail lost from F5 to F7....

You know the fog is there to mask lowered detail in F7 right? The better lighting, shadows and overhanging trees are much more impressive than some 2017 fog and some shafts..

I'm pretty sure that fog cost more rendering time than clear skies

I like that GT didn't follow the others and put in those weird patchy grass billboards that make it look like they don't mow their grass and it gets overrun by weeds or something (in the other games, you got clumps of blades jutting out several inches higher than the rest of the grass). That stuff is fine in games like Skyrim where you're going for natural wild settings but not when you're trying to emulate well kept greens on race tracks. But if you look closely at the GT shot, they actually put in a few vertical blades in the crevices where it'd be hard to mow.

I know GTS has received quite a bit of criticism (rightly so in some cases), but looking at both PC2 and Forza 7 threads... well, lets just say no game is perfect.

PC2 looks to be riddled with bugs, and Forza seems to be having its "GT5" moment with some tracks looking great and others not so hot.

Driveclub is the Boogeyman this generation even without a PS4 Pro patch it's still putting the top dogs to shame after 3 years while they are on consoles 2 & 3 times more powerful.

You insanely biased views show that you have jack shit technical knowledge.

Always been the case..
I mean you can inject 4k and high res textures and AF all you want, but if your game needs a UHD, high bitrate video for you to start appreciating the leap since last gen and what it's doing in terms of graphics, then i'm not impressed, or at least it's not the kind of leap i want to see.

GT is just in a league of its own.

You can put me in the not so impressed with FM7 camp. Even playing with HDR, it just feels like such a small improvement over 6. Think I’ll wait to play it in 4K next month. They need to move these games on to 3 year dev cycles.

Only in low bandwith videos.

I love Driveclub but if it's IQ you speak of then a lot of games have surpassed it.

Still looks great though, and how it looks during the rain is still one of the best.

Even with a lower IQ it look better than GTS , Forza 7 & Project Cars 2

We've had this one already. IQ on big-screen is do-do and kills everything about the game in gameplay other than weather. Sorry, just being honest.

Look up at the Forza 7 shots & videos they don't look better than Driveclub even if it was on a 65"

i think when this is what your sprite grass looks like, you may as well just not have any at all. also, whats with the texture looking like it's offset by about 30cm?
