Just scanning trough NOM 54, I came across some rather interesting pages.
Now most of these have been printed in other magazines as well, and are online in one form or another, but I hadn't seen the wireframe model for Link before, nor the artwork for Mother 3. And some of these pictures are quite a bit larger than the ones found in the N64 Magazine of the same time.

So I'll just plop them here if anyone is interested.

My wife is really bad. Whenever I want something, I ask hoping she'll talk me down and she's like "Sure, you should definitely get that" and then she starts sending me listings for things and all my money disappears.

Because most CRTs and speakers are big and boxy. Those sharp angles are totally not fetch.

yup. There really isn't a "right" place to put it in our house.

I had a 32" sony HD CRT for years .... it ended its days in the garage after we went flat-panel and eventually gave it away. that was a few years ago.

My hope is to carve out a tiny game shrine since this is only a 20"

I modded my GBA yesterday for a backlit screen, and wife was giving me the dirtiest looks as I scraped away plastic for the new screen to fit. Then I cut my thumb up (broken xacto blade), and she just looks at me:

Her: "Is it bad enough for stitches?"
Me: "No."
Her: "You're an idiot."

She loves me, and puts up with my hobby. She just knows now if I get packages from Japan, china, or anywhere else outside of North America, that I'll be tinkering or playing something and preoccupied.

This is key to a relationship. If they aren't interested in joining you it's essential they understand and respect your private time. I have way too many buddy's that "aren't allowed" to play games anymore.

My wife is great but I have to admit I'm very glad I get home from work before she does so I can hide some of my deliverys! She still hasn't noticed the ps4 in our living room changed to a pro and she probably won't!

Yesterday a package came from China and I assumed it was some makeup thing she ordered on my eBay so I left it for her to open. Boy was she disappointed when it turned out to be a bunch of scart connectors I forgot I ordered!

My buddy just got married last year. A few months later, he bought a PSVR the day it came out due to hype without telling his wife. She walked into the house and saw it strapped on his face and her reaction, apparently, wasn't so good.

She must have forgiven him because she just bought him a Switch for his birthday.

Yeah, I would never buy anything over $50 without talking with her first. That seems like a recipe for disaster.

Current discussion: "So you bought the PS4 Pro, why again do you need an Xbox One X? You have an Xbox One."

She's right. I know she's right. But I also need a 4k UHD disc player...

One S does 4K blu as well

I paid good money for this Dynex!

Man, who wants that weak shit, though? If there's gonna be a conversation, it might as well be a conversation for the actual system people want now.

Though this assumes people want an Xbone, which is a faulty premise anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What about a scenario where u trade in the One and get the One X discreetly and hope the spouse does not notice?

Sleeping on the cooooooouuuuuuuch! Seriously though, she would know. My wife is super observant, and we actually pay attention to each other's hobbies for the most part. Plus, again, I'd never spend more than $50 without consulting her.

Also, my daughter would be the first to find out. She loves to push the Xbox button on the front of the One. "BOO-BE-DOO" and LIGHTS UP! Then a few seconds later: "DOO-DEE-DOO" and powers down.

Over and over.

trade in xbox to gamestop. they'll almost likely have a promo to entice plp to get the x1x. they love reselling used systems.

Just bought a Switch in impulse. Been a while since I just up and bought a new piece of gaming hardware. Usually it’s the old stuff for me. Any of you retro-minded folks have game recommendations from the eShop? I’ll be getting several of the big 1st party games. Never had a WiiU

I hear all the Neo Geo ports are really good.

I did the same thing recently, I wanted to play the new Zelda and heard the Switch version was definitive, so I grabbed one off Amazon. I enjoyed the game, but I didn't like the motion controls, or the joy-con setups in general and I wasn't about to shell out 70 bucks for a pro controller. Anyways, it was a nice game, but I returned it, ultimately. I made it far enough to get the Master Sword
and it was a fucking bust.

I’m certain I’ll enjoy Zelda. No time to dig into it right now though. I’ll probably roll through Mario first then do Zelda over the winter.

Picross S is a must have for every Switch owner.
One of the best puzzle series ever created.
Binding of Isaac is extremely addictive.
Once Enter the Dungeon hits, get it! Don't sleep on that one.
Pray that Nuclear Throne comes to the system as well.
Graceful Explosion Machine is super fun.
Both Strikers 1945 and Gunbarich are must haves for arcade gamers in my book.
Pretty much all the Neo Geo games as well.
Gonner is something special also.
Puyo Puyo Tetris and Disgaea 5 just eat up time.
Butcher is very fun but I just got it so I don't know if it'll last.

Avoid Double Dragon 4. It's really bad. Just wait for the Virtual Console and pick any of the old ones up if they get released instead.

I assume you're just asking about eshop exclusives?

In which case, I'd go with Blaster Master 0, Fast Racing RMX, and Mighty Gunvolt Burst.

So, I've been playing Metroid 3DS for a bit now off and on and I've decided that it just isn't that good. I am playing it because it's a "Metroid" and not because it's a Metroid.

I mean, I don't want to celebrate that you're not having a good time, but I am glad to have my opinion validated.

I was really disappointed.

Blaster Master Zero is my favourite game on the Switch. And it just got a new update to fix the non-integer scrolling, so it’s 100% amazing now.

I'm enjoying it more as I progress. The first few hours had me going "meh"

There's a part where you have to run from a giant drill and my fuck does it really highlight how shit ass fuck the controls are.

I'm into a speed run now to get the best ending and it is by far the most sophisticated control set up in a Metroid game. Running through levels precisely capping enemies with ice beam then melee is Matrix-like stuff.

I assume your hassle is the morph ball? The 3DS itself is the main issue IMO, the layout is awkward for so many buttons to be used.

The circle pad just kills me in that game. I hate having it being the primary control. Oh well, just 12 more Metroids to go I've had a pretty okay time with it so far.
I really wish this was on the Switch though the 3DS gives my hands cramps.

I'm torn now, the 3D is really great in it, but a game like this does give me hand cramps. 3DS is fine for simpler controlling games, I never had issues with 3D land, but add lots of shoulder button use and cramp city.

Ha, just played a demo and am loving it. Will probably get it next. Thinking Volgar, Dragon's Trap or Golf Story after that. I really just want a ton of 2D and indie games on this thing.

My first purchase was ... Mario Bros. I've always loved that game. Gotta go retro from the get-go.

What's the best Neo Geo fighter now available on it? I'd like a fairly casual experience. I'm not a big FG player. Maybe original SamSho or Fatal Fury Special???

I got a 3rd party grip for 3DS and it really helps with the comfort level.

For a more casual fighter, check out Galaxy Fight or Waku Waku 7.

I love Mark of the Wolves, but it's fairly advanced in comparison.

Sneaking in your Amazon parcels is the meta game.

My opinion on it is still developing. At first I was feeling the same way, but last time I picked it up, it grew on me a bit.

The movement in the game is less like Zero Mission or Fusion, and more like Super or Metroid 1. It's slower paced and a bit more cumbersome. Once I figured that out, I started appreciating the game a bit more. I never had an issue entering the morph ball with the circle pad though.

I'm definitely going to update you guys as I continue to play this one. It's an interesting game as far as what the devs are going for. I'm curious to see how it progresses as I continue to unlock more of the game.

I usually have morph ball issues if I try changing mid-air trying to be more efficient at certain things. It gets a bit frustrating at times since my success rate while high gets pretty annoying when it does fail to change to morph.

I got a 3rd party grip for 3DS and it really helps with the comfort level.

That might be good for me to look into. I have like 20 3DS games I've never completed because the thing hates my hands and that's like most of my library. lol

Thanks. I think MOTW is probably more than I can chew. Believe it or not, I am considering the Street Fighter 2 port, even thought it's mega over priced.

How are the sales on the eShop? That's one thing I really love about PSN.

Would you say the movement almost feels like... Metroid 2? Lol

It's worth noting that you can morph ball by tapping the touch screen but it feels so unnatural to me and I don't remember to do that in the heat of battle.

MOTW is very easy to pickup and the art and music is just incredible. You can also lower the difficulty in the cabinet options.

I bought usf2 for $20 used and I wouldn't pay anymore then that. It's a great way to play sf2 if you have a stick. That game on a Joycon/pro controller is no Buenos

I can only think of 2 games that have gone on sale on the eShop. There's no psn/steam like deals as of yet.

I'm a strong beliver in never lying to my wife. If she doesn't know about it I can't lie to her!

In all honesty we tell each other all our big purchases. She just bought a $3500 purse so I didn't feel the ps4 pro was a big purchase lol.

Wait...when did the Switch get Volgaar?

*looks it up*

Yesterday...huh.

I think I'd like to give that game another go, and that's a good way to do it.
