Welp... the scapes and the race demo are the most visually impressive thing Ive seen in games. Best HDR implementation too.
Its really wild, even from the menu, i get a sense that GTS was a labor of love from Polyphony. The obsession to detail is nuts. Hoping this impression of mine rings true for the actual game.

Had some kind of crash happening during a demo. Yellow flags were nice, car behaviour not so much.

The improvements PD have made in the last year are insane, the demo from the start until now has seen a very good jump. I genuinely dont understand how they ever thought this game would release last year but fuck me, the base game just looks so good.
Its really easy for me to drop my £46 on this game because its going to be supported for a long time to come, there aint gonna be another PS4 GT after this. Cannot fucking wait for this game to release!

Oh yeah. Did anyone else mess with exposure correction? I felt the need to bump it to 0.5 on my KS8000, otherwise daylight looked a little dim.

GT is always a labor of love for Polyphony. It's just that the labor hasn't always been invested in areas which players care about the most. I'll reserve judgment until I actually get to play the demo.
It should not be lost on anyone how proud and confident Polyphony is about their work. They walk you through a careful display calibration before anything else when launching it for the first time.
And the Scapes mode also tells a story - were so confident in our models, lighting and shading that you may place these models over real-world photographs and share them with anyone youd like.

How do you mean "upgrade?"
These features were likely planned for the graphics all along. Maybe it should be called "it was still in development."
They certainly didn't just magically figure out in the last 9 months or so how to conceive an infinitely better looking game. It's Polyphony, I can't believe people still doubt them on graphics. They did amazing with the limitations of PS2 and PS3. This is the same dudes who got 1080i @ 60 fps on the PS2 for crying out loud.

Self reflections aside these are basically indistinguishable from real photographs.
I totally expect PD to be able to deliver lighting this quality in-game on ps5.
And I'm actually considering grabbing a pro and a 4k HDR display for this. For a screen saver.
I don't even care about the game, give me more replays, photomode and scapes.

They have Less Man's as Scapes location and parts of the track are used to showcase the cars,but the track itself is not in the game.

I'm just simply talking about how much better it looks now compared to then. Obviously they were never going to allow it to release in that state. But the visual jump from then to now has been massive. Seemingly moreso than many even thought it would be going by how people are reacting to how polished it looks.

Im using a standard PS4 with a 1080p plasma TV, and it looks stunning, cant imagine how this looks on a HDR set with a ps4 pro. Nuts.

The bit that blows my mind is about six minutes in. They basically show like a clay model, and then pan beyond it to show you the final build. It's such a lovely, thoughtful little touch that really demonstrates the passion of the team.

The fact that this was their first public showing is completely bonkers.
It's like that 14 year old girl in school with braces that you never thought you'd ever fall in love with. And then it transforms into the hottest college teen around.

Didn't even notice that before lol. Attention to detail is truly impressive.
Despite some of the negativity about the changes this game has made to GT, if the rest of the game is as polished as this, it should be a brilliant online racer. Looking forward to the review.

I have the limited steelbook edition preordered but I have a sneaking suspicion that Ill be swapping it for digital deluxe, if only because I hope the dynamic theme is bonkers.
