Please let me know if you can think of a better way to cook enough food to feed a whole bunch of people at the same time without a smoker or giant grill..
Optics concern trolling be damned when the dude is feeding people.

Was about to say the same thing. Dude probably has a huge smoker to be able to provide a lot of cooked food to people.

Oh you almost drowned at sea? Well despite being saved I hope you’re prepared to die of thirst. I couldn’t imagine giving you water right now.

I don't even think the irony is offensive. people need to eat. Can't be mad at him for this. Good for you, Good-guy-Guy. I will go back to my normal levels of haterade next week.

How dare he help volunteer by doing what he is able to. I bet he doesn't even pass the most rigorous virtue tests! We should see if we can dig up a 20 year old video where he says something slightly insensitive and post it all over the social media networks.

I saw Guy Fieri at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I mean, he needs to cook somehow. If a smoker is what he thinks would be the best thing for the job, there's no reason not to bring it.

That's like getting mad at a chef for using a cooking knife when making food to feed a stab victim.

The people complaining didn’t have their fucking homes burnt down or had to evacuate their homes. They piss me off so much. Selfish fucks.

While the Guy Fieri persona can be kinda annoying at times, I have absolutely no problems with the man Guy Fieri. Dude showed up to help feed a ton of people, good on him.

Don't really see a problem with it. He's feeding a lot of people that need help.

This is a 'bitch with crackers' situation.
Yep. I think the positives far outweigh any negatives here.

There's sensitivity and then there's being fed some comfort food during bad times.

Good on him for helping out and I'd imagine he's been around long enough to let this kind of thing slide off his back.

When asked if the barbecue smoker was an appropriate choice considering the smoke and fire in the devastated area, Fieri got defensive. "I don't even have anything to say about that," he told KQED. "That's a ridiculous question. And that's a ridiculous statement. I mean, come on. What do you want me to do?"

Fieri is right, questions don't get much dumber than that.

Glad to see people defending this.

I'm mean shit - has Guy Fieri ever done anything more offensive than retain a 1999 spring break persona?

Good on him. At the end of the damn, he's feeding people while armchair critics are railing on him for his choice of cooking technique.

Eh, don't care for Guy normally, but this is good thing. Being a professional, I assume he is not adding to the fire risk.

There are two main ways to cook, with electricity or with flame (by gas, or wood burning). Seeing that the fires are taking out parts of the electrical grid, portable flame devices seem logical.

Really, I can't see why anyone would be outraged.

Some people always looking for something to complain about. This guy is doing a great thing and that should really all that needs to be said.

The more I've watched Guy, the more I've liked him. Say what you want about his aesthetics, but he's confident in who he is and - to the best of my knowledge - hasn't done or said anything to make me question his character.

I can understand people bristling at him bringing a smoker, but come on. The dude's volunteering his time to feed people. Getting critical about his choice of food is beyond silly, especially when it's obvious that he's not doing it as some dumb ironic joke.

He's feeding and helping people, not filming segments for the news or some reality television show. Can't knock him for this.

He's annoying, but I don't think he's a bad person.

It wasn't like he was setting off spectacle grade smoke machines for an Undertaker ring entrance. He was preparing meals for people. How far does head your head need to be up your own ass to complain about this?
