He did. Now would be a good time to try it again since NFL viewership has been going down. I'm super interested to see how he handle it this time.

So interesting to believe that the Kaepernick situation led to this opportunity. But...I'm not expecting an NFL 2.0, more like the XFL revival.

TV in its entirety is experiencing a decline in viewership. The NFL viewership trend isn't anomalous.

There is just one question WHY? Its not like his wrestling stuff does great so he can focus also on this....

IMO, it needs to come back as a serious league. No stupid nick names on jerseys, and the like. Just be regular football, but another league.

If done right, hopefully it can become the off-season football people have been clamoring for, for ages.

I don't know, I kind of liked XFLs silly side.

TV/sports viewership may be down, but I am not so sure that it warrants an entire new league - do they think they fans will migrate to this new league? So ex- Eagles fans are now going to root for/invest time in the new Philadelphia Hawks? How are their Super Cup ratings going to be? Will they sell merchandise or get sponsors?

I do not believe the NFL is dead even by a long shot.

I do suppose it may provide another option for athletes who don't get drafted.

Why would anyone need to "migrate"? It's not a one or the other situation. And I highly doubt it would go on during the NFL season (though who knows, I could be wrong).

I am referring to the people who cried about the "kneeling" and said that they would stop watching the NFL and start watching College or alternative leagues. Not that I care, I'm just wondering how that will work out for them.

I predict CTEFL, but I'd love a seriously competitive 7on7 flag football league.
Maybe Rock N Jock style where teams have 4 athletes and 3 celebrities. I'd watch.

I guess if you already employ a bunch of big muchly dudes, you might as well employ some more. As a European, I never really got the appeal of Wrestling, I can totally get behind American Football though, so much more tactical than Football.

I just want teams in this league to have entrance theme songs that play everytime they enter the field.
LOL, how about about the touchdown celebrations. I want a live band to come out to the goal after every TD ... and field goal

I think it can work if it targets cities without an NFL team and I guess probably the biggest cities that have the capacity to support a lot of teams.

This could work actually if done correctly. I am interested in this as if the XFL is successful that would pressure the NFL into making a better product in return.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

The bigger issues are that this isn't being footed by a second source like NBC did for the original XFL. Not too mention we've seen time and again that these off shoots or alternatives designed specifically with a more conservative audience in mind don't really work out all that well. Not too mention I'm curious how they deal with the CTE aspect of the game which has turned off a lot of people. That and Vince hasn't exactly been full of good decisions these last couple of years.

LOL @ Manziel comment? That doesn't even make sense when the league will need ratings to get sponsors and i'd love to watch trainwreck manziel run around. I assume others would too.

Lol at all of this. Second rate football leagues will never, ever work in America. Unless there is no drug testing and TRT Dan Marino or LT come back.

I'm interested as a WWE fan during the non-PG generation and as someone who doesn't care about all the nonsense with current sports - taxpayers funding stadiums, supporting bad seeds who play well, etc.

That said, HStallion really points out all the hurdles, especially the "Vince hasn't exactly been full of good decisions" part.

I'm hopeful but realistic.

Vince started another entire football league because of his hatred of NFL players protesting the death of black Americans at the hands of police...

God damn

you can't put a price on sparks
i dont think its an awful idea in today's environment. plenty of streaming companies hungry for content. they dont have to deal with the NFL and still get "football"

That tends to happen when people "care" more for a piece of cloth over actual humans

And who will want to play in this league if the league says off the bat that it's against causes that black people care about?

I can honestly see people/prospects coming from high school to this if it means they avoid the NCAA/ college completely and maybe they go to the NFL afterwards if they can. That's about it really. All this is is just pandering to people who couldn't stand seeing a black man actually protesting

It would be so funny (awesome) if on their first game all the players came out, white and black, and all of them took a knee during the anthem.

Except playing in the NCAA would get them more exposure at this point. Unless that kid needed money that badly.

Omg that would be perfect! You just start seeing them take the knee and then the screen goes black as Vince pulls the cord.

Another thing to consider is the impact of the Upcoming NFL CBA in 2021 one year after the first XFL season. If there is an extended or no season of football due to no agreement the XFL would have an massive advantage.

Vince is such a fucking boss. I hope this succeeds alot better than his last venture into football. Admittedly he handled it all wrong the first time, hope he's learned his lesson...

If he's banking on building an audience from the people that are pissed about the players kneeling, he may be in for a disappointment. I don't think there are many people that care all that much. Certainly not enough to support a sports league.

lmfao sadly this will be the new rhetoric... the XFL is alt-right!
You can thank Vince McMahon for starting it, and making it a immediate point in their organizations first press conference. We’re not ignorant and blind to the dog whistle rascism that is implied by their comment.
