After many rumors about the next episode of the franchise, an internal source in the editorial reveals us exclusively two vital information about it: its title and its time.
After brilliantly renewing the franchise with Assassin's Creed Origins , which staged Bayek in a delightful ancient Egypt, here is the next episode of the series comes to unveil today through a visual revealing two important information.

aco-1527777222-article.jpg

Indeed, Articblue , an insider more than reliable and internal editorial, sent us the world exclusive photo of an official goodie bearing the name of the next album. It is therefore Assassin's Creed Odyssey which will be in the spotlight as a "sequel" to the adventures of Bayek.

The spartan-shaped keychain leaves little room for doubt and that is why we can say that the action will most likely make us travel to ancient Greece in this episode. Assassin's Creed Odyssey has not yet been formalized by Ubisoft and has no release date to date. It is quite likely that E3 reveals a lot of information on the subject as the publisher begins to send derivatives to different resellers.

I feel a bit of loss on how the series has gone from having a consistent lore in a realistic historical setting, to something where you can now go to vendors and buy "frost blades".

Wouldn't it be more fun if they just dropped the "historical" bit altogether and went full fantasy?

Still Greece is a good choice..

AC:O was insanely boring

the side quests are awful and you must play them so you can level up and play the main quests, so in a way the side quests are actually main quests, the combat was meh, i still miss the badass combat of AC3, i wonder when will we get a game with a combat as good as AC3's, the story sucks and so does the characters, hunting to upgrade gear is an awful addition and a horrible copy of Far Cry's upgrade system

i forced myself to finish it and it was a suffering, i even enjoyed AC:U much more than AC:O

Assassins Creed in Greece. What a time to be alive. Holy shit. Dreams do come true.
That's exactly how I felt when they confirmed Egypt for AC:O.

I hope the original leak is true, and it turns out this is going to be an ancient trilogy with Egypt, Greece, and Rome.

And ubisoft continues of not giving the [non-assassins creed] fans what they want: a chinese/Japanese assassins creed.

You know. The graphic assets are similar between Origins and Ancient Greece. It's easy for theme, but I think after Tsushima, Nioh, and Shadow Die Twice some things are going to change in their next iterations

That's a cool setting.

Still waiting to pick up Origins for $20 or less. Despite hearing it's good it's still a Ubisoft game so I have no trust that I'll like it

I can do without another Creed game for a while. Origins was better but they have the worst story tellers in the business imo. And the series still suffers from repeat mission layouts.

I like Greece setting but I wish it wasn't Assassin's Creed game. Then again I don't trust Ubisoft at all to make engaging game even it was new IP. This why I'm sooo glad Sucker Punch is one doing the Japanese setting with Ghost of Tsushima.

Just found out that Assassins Creed is back on yearly rotation from my sources. The new game Assassins Creed Odyssey will be out this year. Kotaku is now also confirming the same thing.

Yeah this is basically how I feel, except just go ahead and replace "Assassin's Creed game" with "Ubisoft game"

I think removing the dumb modern world aspect would go a long way.

I got to Alexandria and feel like this already. Never went back to this game as of yet. It looks superb but honestly the last best AC game for me was Syndicate after AC2

Might as well adopt the setting now that GoW dropped it, but my gripes with AC are not alleviated by a change of scenery. Its issues, for me, hinge more on poor mission design and a narrative that has outlived its use.

Yawn. I just want them to ditch the modern day crap and at least try to have a cohesive story. They need to re-reboot the franchise. And after a Greek occupied Egypt, Greece isn't that compelling. I guess they wanted to reuse as many assets as possible and get back on that yearly release churn.

Didn't Gully say that Origins would have a lot of DLC? Is it possible that this would be a full priced expansion? And work as an interim addition rather than a new mainline game?

Yeah, was thinking about that too. Would be great to use Origins as base and upgrade it with Greece/Rome + new game elements (who would apply to Origins too). But seriously doubt they''ll take that direction.

Anyway, if the leak turns out to be true, the game could be solid on it's own. Looks like they are combining what was best from the previous games, which is the way to go. Always hated how previous games tried to reinvent the formula every time, instead of combining gameplay elements of the previous games with new ones. For example really like the more detailed customization system in Unity, much prefer it to Origin's outfits.

The Assassin's Creed's main plot is weak. You can name it Far Cry or anything. The open world formula is sure addictive.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I liked Origins well enough. I'd definitely be interested in a direct sequel.

Completely disinterested. The fact those greedy Ubisoft degenerate never care to propagate and maintain their franchise backlog enough (as in affordable, complete, and compatible AC collections), made me almost skip AC:Origins.

But then I played and realised that it was still as redundant, bland and boring, so having skipped Black Flag and Syndicate, I wasn't interested in continuing.

Fantastic setting, can't wait. Still haven't played Origins though, looks really good though. Is Bayek that interesting to warrant a sequel?

I liked the character! And the setting. I think the extra year really helped with the development. It still has a Ubisoft slog to it, but they streamlined some things out.

I wish they released like final AC:O edition. I'm leaving over the summer and dont have good internet access, so I like to bring games with me. AC feels very depedent on patches and DLC, so I wish there was a way to bring that with me on a disc (xbox in another country)

I much preferred the gameplay loop and general setting this time around. It didn't feel as "collectathon" as the previous entries. If they can make the world feel a bit more "alive" with some more variety - I will be very happy.

Sub-$20 to avoid disappointment - like another person in this thread I didn't make it past Alexandria - which in terms of map uncovered is probably sub 10%. I just felt like I seen everything the game had to offer in terms of gameplay by then, and it was ok .. maybe if I wanted a time sink of a game more.

The changes they made sounded good on paper, but in practice the combat was very average hack and slash, and the parkour is so easy it basically flattens the entire map - 99% of stuff is climbable no problem, no puzzle or challenge.

In fairness I genuinely enjoyed the game to start off with .. then in the beginning area I encountered bandits that looked exactly the same as all the others I'd been fighting but now were "skull" enemies I couldn't even damage.

And it really needs to be mentioned the atrociously presented beginning that drops you in the game sort of in 'media res' - but you have no clue what's happening - yet if you go to the menu there's 5 assassinations already waiting for you, including names and descriptions - it's so bad many people thought/think the game has glitched and skipped a cutscene - but no.

It's not a game I hated at all, but really feels like Ubisoft needs some real game-design talent (that's probably unfair - but it needed much stronger direction) on board .. such a directionless start.

(whoa unloaded)

I mostly care for the graphics and sets. Interested to roam through ancient Athens with the parthenon and all.

Origins was an amazing entry into the series. Still on my first play through, but it’s been one of the few out of all AC games that I want to finish. Looking forward to the next installment!

Wonder how they will portray Assassin's if his standard garb is... like that. Doesn't look very Assassiny.

At this point I've just given up hope of the series ever going to feudal Japan. Clearly Ubisoft has some kind of vendetta against that setting despite it being thematically perfect for an Assassins Creed game and also being one of the most requested by fans.

Glad we've got Ghost of Tsushima on the way.

Not gonna lie, the AC series is my favorite game series of all time. I have enjoyed every single game they have made and this announcement has me pissing my God damn pants in excitement. Although, I wish they would return to the AC Brotherhood era of gameplay, but it is what it is.

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China exists and it's really good. I recommend you give it a try.

Well it is about time for From Software to realize they used to make Tenchu games.
From Software published a lot of them sure, but they only developed Shadow Assault: Tenchu, which was a shitty Bomberman clone with the Tenchu skin. Forgive me if I'm not kicking my heels for another FromSoft Tenchu.
