Another year and no Demon's Souls remake :-(

Some games looked good (Ghost of Tsushima, Spideman). I don't know how to feel about the format, I don't miss the hype talk but I don't feel like I got enough games. I guess these days, it is hard to get anything on the big hype level because everything gets leaked anyway.

It's not Sony's fault, but it's still disappointing we didn't get a new Splinter Cell, Rocksteady's game, or the new Avengers game.

Sony is just mass producing 3rd person story heavy games, they look great and the stories are satisfying, but at what point do they become tiring for consumers that are looking to experience different genres and different game play styles. Sony is trying to be way too serious with their games and they are substituting fun for satisfying in their games.

That was awesome! Ghost of Tsushima gameplay (Where's Onimusha Capcom?), Nioh 2, Resident Evil 2 Remake footage, a Remedy game with someone who looks like Denise Richards lol :)

Very dynamic Last of Us 2 gameplay footage and then a host of smaller games for VR that look fun. Fun looking VR games. Tetris Effect, etc.

Probably one of the worst Sony conferences I've seen. Both companies are clearly holding back. If these conferences don't convince you next-gen is upon us, then I don't know what to say.

The only thing bad about this conference was the pacing.. Showing TLOU and then having a break just killed the pacing..
They had some really good reveals tho.

I'm a little worried about Spiderman now. I was SUPER hyped about it originally, but after what I'm seeing today... I'm not so sure anymore.

To be honest it was kind of disappointing. I will be buying that KH3 PS4 Pro, but other than that, this felt like a end of generation E3, with much more coming next year.

Crazy that people an claim this was a great conference

Spiderman looked great.

I've never been a Metal Gear fan, but I think Death Stranding looks pretty interesting. Scratches a single player itch.

I don't get the need to remake RE2.. I don't want remakes.. give me something new.

Ghost of Tsushima looked great... then they started fighting and it lost its luster to me.

The Last of Us 2 looked absolutely phenomenal. The animation looked fantastic and ND are great story tellers.

Outside of that.. nothing.

The Last of Us 2 and Spider-Man both look amazing. Other than that, the show was horrible, and Death Stranding looks boring as fuck.

Congratulations Microsoft!

Pretty decent showing all around. I think Microsoft had the better conference but damn there was some great game shows. RE2... holy shit man. I already knew TLOU2 and Spiderman was going to be awesome but damn.... RE2 and Death Stranding look pretty slick. Also, I had not seen that Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer yet if they've show it and it looked good. Also, that FROM VR game may push me over the edge and get a PSVR.

That was heavily scripted. That entire scene is probably a main mission in the game. I can't imagine that entire game is that solidified in content. Imagine main events in Arkham games. It reminds me of the PS1 Activision game. Your focus is that facility and that facility alone. Didn't the open world footage do that too? You have an open world, but the scripted stuff locks everything in.

Death Stranding was very interesting in that it kept something completely unoriginal original. It was building on a job and a job that would suck, a carrier.

So, three more years of lackluster E3 events then I guess?

Guy from Ghost of Tsushima looked like Shawn Layden..

Actually happy to see "Quantum Break 2" (Control)

Sekiro > Nioh2 so far (what does Sekiro mean?)

It's not that there is an asian and a black person. Is that those are the people chosen to represent who is good. And the white guys are chosen to represent who is bad. And lately that's everywhere. And that's politics they are shoving into games.

Except you can't really say that. If they were white, who would complain about how "white people are chosen to represent the good"? One thing is determining things like that on an individual basis, which would have to be analyzed after the game comes out (since you don't know who the good and evil people are in the game and what ethnicity they have), and on an aggregate basis and even then it's still dubious due to many factors.
Relax, critique it if it feels forced when you play it and not be overly sensitive about it. Had it been gameplay or visuals, I could understand being critical at this stage, but "these people of color are good, and those white people are bad" is something I'm pretty sure just seems like pulling out of your ears, considering how little we know about the story.

Sony's show pretty much was stuff we knew about. But hey there is still gamescom, Tokyo game show, and psx. I would give it a B-. Excited about Spiderman, Ghost, and RE2 remake

I can't give MS the win because most of the games they showed I'll be playing on PS. Sony showed a lot of exclusive content that I'll be getting day 1. Death Stranding was a bit disappointing though.

TLoU 2 looked mediocre, Ghost of Tsushima looked ok, RE2 remake got me mildly interested, Death Stranding was...different. KH3 has never been a thing for me.
Spiderman would have interested me more if there wasn't a saturation of superhero shite these days.
Not a very good conference overall for me.

I can't say I enjoy this format very much but everything they showed got me interested in some way which is pretty good. I'm pretty satisfied with the conference.

Isn't MGS basically walking from place to place trying not to get seen by the enemy? Same shit.

Conference was okay, but it definitely lacked the 'wow' factor that's been present in previous pressers. They did the best they could with it, though, I guess -- although that single venue just for that TLOU demo certainly threw some people off lol.

For me, TLOU was somewhat of a familiar showing so as great as it is to see it's just something that you know you'd be much better off playing or hearing more info about at this rate -- right now, compared to the scene-stealing TLOU demo from a few years back, nothing about this actually shatters the groundwork of what we already know... so as a whole it provides a very good look at the gameplay and tone and leaves it there.

Death Stranding is still very vague... interesting, of course, as a game and as a Kojima game, but not enough here to elevate the E3 showing itself.

Control definitely looks promising, though. Another good one was Ghost of Tsushima, which looks like the samurai game we've all been needing frankly. Awesome to see Sucker Punch take on new IPs once again..!! Might be the one that struck me most in the conference from the provided peek. Spidey also looks to be shaping up to be a stellar superhero action-adventure. I'm not sure how much more invested I can get in another Marvel entry, but I'll likely get my hands on it at some point post-launch.

All in all, it was an average conference but the intention was a noble effort. They knew what they were working with, even if that might have meant rakin' a middling place in the company of their other conference holders. ^^'

It was great, because they showed us many games and their gameplay, I thought all of them looked interesting (outside of Remedy's, which I'm hesitant of) and they surprised me with Nioh 2. The one bad thing was the whole intermission thing, which was terrible. Other than that it was short and to the point.
What I was missing from Microsoft was them giving us gameplay. That and together with too much overall business talk, made it much less interesting as someone who plays games.

I give this conference a B-

Positives:
RE2 with release date
Spider-Man
TLoU 2 gameplay
Tsushima gameplay
Death Strading sort of gameplay

Negatives are:
COD & Destiny 2
No release date for TLoU2 or Tsushuma
No Shenmue III
No Red Dead Redemption II
Unnecessary stage transition
Too short

I still can’t over how good pirates of the caribbean world looked in KH3
Agreed, KH3 is looking better and better, makes the wait to January feel like forever, i'm praying they don't delay it. I followed the KH2 release back in the day and square delayed that game constantly.

what's happening to Sony's conference this year? Merging Nintendo's Treehouse concept in between the conference??? too weird. the presentation sucks

I think people went in with their expectations way too high. To be honest, I was shocked we got what we did. I didn't think there was any chance in hell we'd get Death Stranding gameplay. Or as much TLOU2 gameplay as we did.

E3 has been gimped in terms of importance for years. I think the fact that we got what we did was a major treat. It seems like people expected it to be the press conference to end all press conferences and that hasn't been E3 for a while.

I got what I wanted. Gameplay of the 4 big exclusives, the RE2 Remake, and more KH3. Nioh 2 is a huge bonus. So I'm super happy. It wasn't their best conference, but a lot of those games are day 1 for me.
