Is there a full list of games yet?

I'll laugh my absolute hardest if Twisted Metal 2 isn't included.

I do not like this trend of selling mini consoles as if we could not sell them on PSN for PS4... that is quite likely running on a software emulator so... and yes the same for Nintendo mini consoles... I have fond memories of all of them as a kid and yes $99 is less than the cheapest PS4, but I think it should not be the only way this stuff gets re released.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
20 games for 99 euro? Holy shit. More expensive than Nintendo’s mini consoles.

No thanks.

God dam fuck off Sony they shouldn't be rewarded for this move, just turn on backwards compatibility on the PS4 you fucks.

This pretty much confirms we won't be getting any older generations apart from hopefully the 4 on the 5.

Cool, but I think I'll stick with PS3 for the 99% PS1 game compatibility(vs. 20 pre-selected) and wireless dual shock controller(compared to standard wired).

If it doesn't have Metal Gear Solid or Mega Man X 4 then no sale. Unless you can hack more in.

Yeah, this is going to be a big old pass from me. They aren’t going to have my favourite games and I’m just not nostalgic for it.

I get that they want to cash in on the nes/snes money, but they are doing it wrong.

The list of games better be Tony Hawk2, FF7, Medevil, Intelligent Qube, Resident Evil 2, Crash Bandicoot, CTR, Syphon Filter, MGS, Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo 2, Wwe Smackdown 2, Legend of Dragoon, and a few more games that don’t matter.

Meh, old games is old-- I've had enough of the constant need to "remaster" or re-release everything (be it on a new console or a mini version of an old one).

Please, Please, PLEASE let that closed back port have AV connectors behind it so I can hook this up to my CRT TV

My PSX from 1999 is still going strong but I could use a few spares

Gonna buy this but if it has the old school AV ports I'm buying like 20 of these

I've been playing PSX games nonstop since 1995...while my ps2 has been collecting dust for years wouldn't care about a ps2 classic at all

I don't see an Ethernet port to connect to psn store (or even a virtual psone store) to buy more games. If its limited to 20 games, that is ridiculous! Psone had hundreds of great games.

If it has Xenogears I'll get it day one.
Other nice to haves for me would be:
-Castlevania SOTN
-Crash Bandicoot
-Spyro
-Medievil
-Twisted Metal
-Tenchu II
-Chrono Cross
-Legend of Mana

Edit:
How could I miss Silent Hill and Resident Evil should be a must there.

These mini consoles are cool for me as shelve trophies, a reminiscence of great days of old. Since I already have the original ones, dont even bother to open these.

I knew they’d copy the idea. Sony does what Nintendoes.

Sweet, I’ll get one for sure.

I've never really understand the benefit of these kind of devices, beyond inducing a short lived pang of nostalgia.

There are countless other (completely legal) ways to play this hardware's games, often at superior quality and a cheaper price.

They're never going to have the exact lineup that most people want either. Any wishes for other titles to be added to the announced lineup are likely to fall on deaf ears. This is what you're getting.

Meh I really like the nes/snes minis. They are quality mini consoles. Not sure how far they can push it until enough is too much.

A bit concerning is the lack of a analog stick. So any games that required it is not going to be on the list.

Can you play MGS without a analog stick?

Im guessing some of the other 20 games would be Spyro, Crash, Gran Tursimo. Maybe Spider man.

A classic PS1 or PS2 even would have been far more appealing to me if they overlayed the games with PSN for online matchmaking, chat, trophies, etc. And if the controllers were wireless. This looks like a lazy cash grab.

For all of you, that say this game or that game or bust... Some of the best games won't happen, because of age restrictions, others (Tony Hawk) because of the licensed music... A shame, really.

The "Virtual Disc - Open"-thingy? It's for Final Fantasy... 3 discs, remember? Game changing will be like on the Nintendo Classics - through the Reset-Button.

Will be interesting to see, how much space is on there and how fast it will be hacked. The trailer shows no higher inner resolution, will these games be 240p or whatever the original resolution of PSX was?
And no look onto any Menu... oh oh...

Wonder what this compartment is for - for cables to hide, maybe 2 x AA batteries, or maybe new games slot? Interesting...

Still have my original PlayStation but can't help buying these cute Mini systems.

My worry is, now that we are moving into these newer systems - if they are going to emulate the BIOS or not, I suspect they won't bother. But the loading sequence, memory card management etc are all a big part of the nostalgia for me. Will be a shame if when powered on this thing just has a modern X-bar style menu.

My other question is around load-times, the PSX had some really terrible load-times which are obviously not a problem for a mini system which will be loading it all from flash memory. But some games (Final Fantasy etc) use the CD loading timings and glitch out when things are sped-up. I guess by having fixed games, they can curate which settings are used for which games. But on something like FF7 you ideally want it to be fast when loading areas, but emulate a x1 drive when playing the FMVs to avoid it going wonky donkey.

Curious to see what option they go for.

Looking at the age rating for the classic, it bodes well for folks hoping for a RE title on it.

I will say if it has a good enough list of games.... maybe.

100$ is still a little steep for way dated games, nostalgia or not.

no analog sticks lol

it was kind of hard to go back after they released the dualshock tbh

They could in theory release a Dualshock for it as a separate thing, right?

They're probably holding off on that for the PlayStation Classic 2: DualShock Edition.

None of the games require it, and some of them can't even use it.

All the hardware pieces in this are just cheap replicas anyway. It's a cheap cash-in. It probably keeps the manufacturing costs down.
